From the beeb:
  • They have won three Premier League away games since November 2023 - no side ever-present in the top flight in that time has fewer victories on the road.
  • Spurs have remained winless in their opening three Premier League away fixtures in only one of the last 15 seasons (2019-2020).
  • Spurs can win consecutive Premier League matches for the first time since March. Ange Postecoglou's side have only six victories in 16 top-flight games since (D2, L8).
  • Tottenham have made 263 off-the-ball runs into the opposition box in this season's Premier League, a figure exceeded only by Liverpool (282).
  • Son Heung-Min has created 13 chances from open play in the top flight this season, more than any other player (prior to the latest round of fixtures).
  • Spurs' captain is also one short of moving into the top 20 of the all-time leading Premier League goal scorers.

Well, this has tempered my expectations.

His tactics in the Chelsea game down to 9 men were a tad shocking. We don't know if that effected the players confidence. Of course they're not going to come out and say anything if it did.
Didn't we almost score 2 with that approach? one disallowed and one off the post (not 100% sure). It was definitely not your typical script, but as a marker for 'we never stop', it was an important one.

You should never expect much from us in any game away from home, we have been diabolical away since the end of the Poch era.

I didn't speculate I actually said ''we don't know''.

It came across that you were blaming our form beyond Chelsea on players' confidence being dented by trusting the manager in what he wants from them and believing in his mindset.

And not the fact that from that game, we lost nearly half of our starting eleven including three key players that made the system tick

I just meant that sort of kamikaze game play when down to 9 men could have an effect on the players mentality and confidence in the manager, I'm not speculating that it did, rather we don't know.

It certainly made me think WTF. Anyway I'm going out for a few pints now. I'll be back to watch the game later.

I'm not sure that's how it came across at all. But interesting how people can interpret things differently.

A bit like when that absolute moron on here, can't remember who, used Bentancur kicking the seat after being subbed as an example of the dressing room being against Ange 😂

TBH I don't recall the details of the match other than us going gung-ho with 9 men.
The details are we were 1-0 and in control before a Romero red+ pen, and injuries to vdv and Maddison basically ended the run we were on.

55th minute udogie 2nd yellow meant 35+ minutes with 9 men. For comparison sake, Liverpools 2nd red was in the 69th minute, so they had 14 less minutes with 9 men.

We conceded on 75 minutes. From 76-90+4, we outshot Chelsea 4-0 and had several close chances. Then Chelsea scored 2 goals at 90+4 and 90+7.

Doesn’t seem like the team gave up at all. Your confidence aspect is just complete speculation.

The reason for the decline in form was long term injuries to VdV and Maddison. Romero also missed a month.

You make it sound like we don't get credit cos of the level of the oppo...?

We did well to steady things and win those games but the idea people should be filled with confidence for a game like this because we beat Brentford, Coventry and Qarabag is weird to me.

Those wins needed to happen, they did. Now we need to win this as well to fix the start of this season.

Of course but other top teams get those wins and they're 'ruthless' and similar positive adjectives.

After how many wins are we allowed to express some confidence?
