he overachieved with what he had that first year, in a way ive never seen a manager do for us ever. but it turned sour pretty quick after that first year, for whatever reasons. but once it started to turn you knew it was done.
it is baffling why levy got him in and didnt back him properly, yet has give this guy a shit load of money and transfers to work with, very strange.

My point being that, on the whole, the ones on here creaming themselves over Conte's Napoli are generally the ones that gave Ange no credit for his start.
It is almost as if they change their belief system based on what case they fancy arguing at any particular moment...

I actually want a bit of a return to long ball football because when it happens teams won’t know how to deal with it in the PL because it’s been gone so long. There’s nothing wrong with route one football and getting the ball forward quickly, winning second balls and trying to make the opposition make mistakes.

Ange's whole strategy is simply throw a lot of shit on the wall and hope something sticks. He has no real game other than that. It's all about the same shit with Johnson's crosses. South Melbourne, Brisbane and Yokohama did not give him access to the best players in the league. As for Celtic, the club was a shambles when he came in and he re-built it, mainly on the back of 3 Japanese lads he brought with him, only one of which gets selected for the Japanese national team meaning they're not the best in Japan let alone the SPL.
I've watched his career over the last 20 years. I've said it before but this Tottenham team is not playing the type of football I know as Angeball-even the Socceroos did it better at the WC.

I always find this one funny. Before Ange came in Celtic had won, what, 9 out of the previous 10 titles? Celtic have the biggest budget by a wide margin over everyone including Rangers. They are utterly dominant other than a single blip of a season. Shambles is an overstatement.
Sure, it's a pressurised job but winning trophies with Celtic is never an indicator of an elite manager.
Yes, Pep wanted Kane, he didn't need him. And he got Haaland not that long afterwards. But ask any City fans or even fans of other teams, and 99% will tell you Pep has been backed. Same re Klopp. Ask them about Spurs and Poch, Jose, Conte, Ange or previous incumbents like Harry & co, I doubt you'll get the same vibe.
Of course it ain't just the manager deciding who to bring in. Heck, he's probably right at the bottom of that list at a club like Spurs where Ange has no history or particular affinity with someone like Lange. Compare that to City with Pep & Txiki or what Klopp had with Edwards. And you don't hear about their power hungry whore of a chairman negotiating deals. Truth is, it's not just that we don't spend like a true big club, it's that we don't behave like one. And once again, the No 1 culprit is...
Yeah man he did, I've not forgotten, and kudos to the big fella for that. I don't think that 10-game spell was as brilliant as some seem to remember it, but it was still quality.
Maybe Ange will get us out of that funk we've been in for months, maybe he'll fix all those glaring holes soon enough...heck, after 9 games in 2015-2016 we were even shitter and we all know where Poch took us come the end of that season. Let's have it right, I don't even mave mad expectations for Ange's 2nd season...I'd already be buzzing with a top 4 finish and a final, whether domestic or European. Gimme a trophy, especially the FA Cup, and the man would forever have a seat at my table.
That said, would I trust Conte more in our current predicament? You bet I would. Doesn't mean I'm right, who the eff am I and what do I know. But I've just gotta look at their respective CVs and there's no debate.
The football Celtic and Yokohama and the Australian national team played call it what you like 'Angeball' would be exposed exactly as this iteration of Postecoglou's Tottenham is being. It has never been exposed to this level of attrition or intensity. It will not yeld success against the elite level examination it's getting. Tournament 8 game football, the SPL, A league and J League are not the EPL. 20 years of watching it must make you even better qualified to see just how diffrent these tests are.
I find the desperate clinging to this narrative yeah was the same in another hemisphere of soccer so it's going to come right here in the league with ridiculous levels of international depth through out it( something no league he has EVER worked in had ) crazy. With the players we have playing the identical football Celtic did we'd get beat up worse. And if anyone wants proof go watch the games of those Celtic sides in Europe.
