Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Fair play.

Ange had a good start to his Spurs career too.
Yeah man he did, I've not forgotten, and kudos to the big fella for that. I don't think that 10-game spell was as brilliant as some seem to remember it, but it was still quality.

Maybe Ange will get us out of that funk we've been in for months, maybe he'll fix all those glaring holes soon enough...heck, after 9 games in 2015-2016 we were even shitter and we all know where Poch took us come the end of that season. Let's have it right, I don't even mave mad expectations for Ange's 2nd season...I'd already be buzzing with a top 4 finish and a final, whether domestic or European. Gimme a trophy, especially the FA Cup, and the man would forever have a seat at my table.

That said, would I trust Conte more in our current predicament? You bet I would. Doesn't mean I'm right, who the eff am I and what do I know. But I've just gotta look at their respective CVs and there's no debate.

Only the first part is true- he has never managed at this level.

South Melbourne, Brisbane and Yokohama did not give him access to the best players in the league. As for Celtic, the club was a shambles when he came in and he re-built it, mainly on the back of 3 Japanese lads he brought with him, only one of which gets selected for the Japanese national team meaning they're not the best in Japan let alone the SPL.

I've watched his career over the last 20 years. I've said it before but this Tottenham team is not playing the type of football I know as Angeball-even the Socceroos did it better at the WC.
The football Celtic and Yokohama and the Australian national team played call it what you like 'Angeball' would be exposed exactly as this iteration of Postecoglou's Tottenham is being. It has never been exposed to this level of attrition or intensity. It will not yeld success against the elite level examination it's getting. Tournament 8 game football, the SPL, A league and J League are not the EPL. 20 years of watching it must make you even better qualified to see just how diffrent these tests are.

I find the desperate clinging to this narrative yeah was the same in another hemisphere of soccer so it's going to come right here in the league with ridiculous levels of international depth through out it( something no league he has EVER worked in had ) crazy. With the players we have playing the identical football Celtic did we'd get beat up worse. And if anyone wants proof go watch the games of those Celtic sides in Europe.

Ange's whole strategy is simply throw a lot of shit on the wall and hope something sticks. He has no real game other than that. It's all about the same shit with Johnson's crosses. Ange loves crosses too much. That whole shit with Werner on the left. Come on. It's not good football. It works in spells but those spells are nowadays 2 premier league games in a row at most. He needs to wisen up but it ain't there because he will only stick to his own philosophy.

Anyway, pull up a fucking miracle today and change the whole damn system. Take City by surprise! COYS!
I agree, that constant get to the byline and ping it low towards the 6yd box for an easy tap-in, that bores me greatly. If that's what I wanted to see, I'd watch all of Sterling's City goals.

And like you say, that's the only string to our bow and we don't even have the required quality to make it work more often than not. Madness really.

What's happened to through balls, one-twos and little triangles (just not the super slow mo Mads/Timo/Udo), mazy runs a la Ginola, early & high crosses from your FB from 30-40 yards out, shots from outside the box, creative corner routines...even direct football when the situation requires it like at Palace, especially after splashing record cash on Solanke?

We could score all types of goals under Poch and even Jose & Conte.

People scoff at Napoli being top. As if the Serie A is shit. As if clubs like Inter and Juve are beneath us. The reality is Antonio Conte was a serial winner. Until he met Daniel Levy. He deserves a knighthood for getting us into 4th with the squad he had at his disposal.

He tried to call out the culture at the club, and fans turned on him. Fucking shambles.

Lol what a load of absolute horseshit!!

His record leading up to him getting sacked was abysmal - including absolutely dismal performances in the FA Cup, EFL and CL

The funs turned on him because his football was shit and he was a whiney little bitch.

I always find this one funny. Before Ange came in Celtic had won, what, 9 out of the previous 10 titles? Celtic have the biggest budget by a wide margin over everyone including Rangers. They are utterly dominant other than a single blip of a season. Shambles is an overstatement.

Sure, it's a pressurised job but winning trophies with Celtic is never an indicator of an elite manager.

20/21 they came second in the league. Got knocked out of the cup early. Failed to win a trophy for the first time in 11 years.
19/20 they won the treble.
18/19 they won the treble.
17/18 they won the treble.
16/17 they won the treble.

Fucking shambles of a club!!

The problem is we don’t know if he is capable of doing this project because he’s NEVER REMOTELY been in this situation before. He hasn’t managed anywhere near this level AND he’s never not had access to the best players in any league he’s operated in.

This idea (not that you’ve said it but others point to it) that you have to give managers time as a default because of Fergie or Arteta is nonsense. There are way more times when a manager is given too much time and the inevitable should have happened sooner. Ten Haag. Soljskaer, Gerry Francis - look at the way Arse got rid of Bruce Rioch after one season to bring in Wenger etc.
You have to chart your progress subjectively along the way and essentially continually work out the main question for any manager i.e is he capable of getting more (or at least equal) out of this team than the sum of its parts.
In this sense, it’s always harder at THFC because the manager is always required to get more than the sum, because transfer wise we rarely dine at the top table because of our fuckwit chairman.

And Sunday was an absolutely shocking marker for tracking our progress. Coming off that 2nd half vs Brighton and in our next away game we produce that insipid garbage.
Our away form is absolutely shocking. At home we seem to be adept at putting away teams outside of those competing for the top 6. This pattern will NOT keep Ange in his job past the summer and rightly so. 2 big home games coming up now, can we dispense of some quality opposition at our own house - another progress marker.

Many of us are not Ange OUT, we’re just very concerned.

How come then?

He's been with us for nearly 18 months. Club did a fine job getting rid of players he didn't trust. He's said on many occasions that he signed off on all our incomings. The coaching staff are mostly his picks too. He's the one leading the way at the training ground, the main voice in the locker room & dugout come matchday.

It can't all be on the directors and players. When is he gonna get his style through then, what's that gonna take?

THANK YOU!

Exactly. Through balls, one-twos, direct play...We have incredibly fast attacking players now. that's the kind of style this team is made for. The pedestrian stuff we're playing now is just throwing away all the potential. The more I think about it I realize that we need to get rid of this guy asap.

Lol, we have one manager here trying hard to change the culture and people are dismissing him as arrogant and all sorts of insults.

Then we used to have one manager who was disrespecting the club, ranting and acting constantly like he's doing us a favour and some people are singing his praises like how great he is for leading the Serie A now. I was so eager for him to succeed but lost all respect for this cunt the moment he rant off to the whole world about us. He can fuck off with his low EQ. Napoli winning will mean nothing for me. Not like they have not won for decades.

If only we could identify the person responsible for getting them to play the proper way and then hold them accountable. Because they are clearly being resistant or not fit for purpose like the players in the Australian or Scottish league.

He was right though. If anything he showed constraint regarding our shit show owners.

If Conte had been given the money Ange has been given we would be on another level now. As a manager Conte is way better than Ange.

Great post!

Did make me miss Gerry Francis' mullet

He'll always be a legend in my eyes for speaking up and exposing them for what they are. Revealed the rotten, stinking swindle for what it truly is.

One day, in a not too distant future with new progressive owners that prioritise football, people will come to appreciate his contribution to the outing of the cabal currently milking our fans and our club.
