Holding back?

So now we have to rank City alongside all those "poor" teams we beat, because they weren't trying? Because they rotated their team?

I guess we weren't "trying" because we rotated half of ours too then?

They played like they always play, trying to win the game, we just took our chances better than they did.

How fucked do you have to be to make excuses for the team you've beaten, just to shit on the team you're supposed to support?
Holding back? Nah.
Them not caring about the league cup too much? Yea.

Nope, your reading comprehension sucks, I said this:

'A manager is only as good as it's players and the circumstances around him' obviously he needs to make them tick but he has a far better chance if succeding with good players as opposed to crap players, that much is obvious.

I'll make an obvious comparison, do you not think we'd be winning more matches with Vinicius Jr instead of Werner?
A good manager will make use of the circumstances and players around him and improve them. I don’t see that at Spurs right now. So to come back to what you said initially, is Postecoglou the best manager out there able to get the best out of our squad right now? Chances are there’s someone better out there.

Obviously I support the team breaking out of the cycle of mediocrity that Ange has only continued.

Yeah I don’t care, making out it’s a good season so far when we sit in 8th place having lost 4 won 4 is a fucking laughable statement.

It’s been shit. With no sign of us gaining any consistency. We are already way off the pace for top four which should’ve been the minimum aim for a successful season.

You keep saying “We”

LOL 😝

Ange is trying to create a mentality at Spurs. The Spurs mentality. 'Its who we are mate' 'Its the way we play' producing an us against the rest mindset, which is laudable, for me if he would only adapt his approach in certain games, then I think we have a manger who could take us to the next level, sorry to repeat myself, but he needs to become a little more flexible in his thinking not just in the hope of winning games but also to consider the physical long term demands he is asking of his players.

I'm amazed how league position is even relevant after 9 games. such a small sample size.

It’s crazy they even have a league table until say matchday 37. Keep it much more interesting.

Reality is by matchday 26 the top 5 is usually decided. So we are a 1/3rd of the way there.

However you want to look at it, It’s a quarter of the season gone. 27 points have been played for.
When come May final league positions are often separated by 1-4 points some of those points were dropped in the first 9 games.

I get your point though.
Nobody ever won the title in the first 3 months of the season.

But they have definitely lost it.

I also find it crazy how people think Villa are lightyears ahead of us all of a sudden. They played their second team lastnight and got knocked out of the cup, because they wanted to rest everyone to play us at the weekend! Imagine if we did that!!

They did that because the league cup is a fucking irrelevance to most teams, we’re taking it seriously because of how hard we’ve been clowned for lack of trophies whereas Villa get away with it despite a similar record.

Most clubs do not care about this competition.

Oh give it a rest.

You would have been the first one here to stick the knife in if we got knocked out at Coventry.

Now we still in, it's cos the other teams don't care.

I know this is your MO on here - take a contrary position to most normal Spurs fans - but you used to do it with such grace. You had a bit of style about yourself. You weren't so blatant.

What happened to you? You've gotten sloppy. It's sad to see the decline.

most clubs play second stringers in the Carabao Cup
e.g. Villa, Brighton, Newcastle

That wasn’t even about Spurs or City lmao, it was about Villa. They factually rotated their entire team because they factually don’t care much about it and nor do most teams. Nor do we a lot of the time. You can deal with that reality in whatever way you want.

If we’d lost against Coventry the worry would’ve been more on the performance than the result. The league cup isn’t all that meaningful to me as a competition.

We’re in it because we won a game. Do I think city took it very seriously? The two youth players at the heart of midfield probably says no, but I understand me saying this upsets you on some level. Sorry.

Sorry if I’m not jumping for joy. We lost the more meaningful game days before and now we have another one in a few days.

Have Spurs ever made you jump for joy? Like ever?

I picture you more like this when we win...

Liverpool, City too.. both started multiple youth players and reserves.

But don’t say this, because facts being stated is wrong and we all have to pretend everyone takes this competition super duper serious (literally every elite coach says it shouldn’t exist) or feelings will be hurt.
