Long term its probably a good thing for us. Means we have to sign a proper good GK in January now, which is something we would not have done otherwise. I guess it would have been a lot worse if we signed no GK in January and then had the Vicario injury. Plus we should have two really good goalkeepers next season then.

There I found a positive!!

Have you not been a Spurs fan for long?
Levy is gonna lump a back up to Forster on us at the end of January.

It just means we can reel out the no vicario excuse should we suffer any perceived bad moments, it should make this thread a bit more quieter and we won't even need to lose our passwords by accident!!

:mickyarm:

Just means everyone is gonna flog to the ENIC thread though :levystare:

With Vicario being out, there is now no longer any pressure on Ange, whatsoever. He could lose the next 5 games and it all be easily chalked up to Forster.

I think we'll do alright during this time though, despite the doubts regarding Forsters abilities. Having Romero out I think has improved us already- for me the worst thing for us this season has been uncommitted defending in key moments. Dragusin and Davies are absolutely salivating to play more football and are just not playing as sloppily as Romero has been.

I do still worry about our system and how it fares on a consistent basis, and if we can actually start to get results on a consistent basis, but surely benching/getting rid of players who may be less motivated or who are secretly carrying injury can only help us put in better overall performances.

But what's your thoughts on the emphatic, unique victory? How do you think we played, despite missing those important players
I'm balancing it off with the fact City haven't won a game now in 6 matches.

Their last 6 games, FYI
Spurs 2-1 City
Bournemouth 2-1 City
Sporting 4-1 City
Brighton 2-1 City
City 0-4 Spurs
City 3-3 Feyenoord (from 3 up lolz)

Like it or not, they are a club with massive problems right now. I said it right at the start of that run when we beat them that they have injury problems (and possibly more serious squad problems) and I've never changed that.

At the moment, bragging about beating City is on a par with Jake Paul bragging he beat a 58 year old decrepit Mike Tyson.
Was it a satisfying win? Yes it was.
Did I enjoy the game? Yes I did.
Does it move the needle for Ange/Spurs? No.

We have been in this exact position under Ange and other managers. I'm having flashbacks to beating Chelsea 5-3 and then losing to Palace in the next game.
Or beating City at the Etihad under Conte and then losing to Burnley in the next match
Beat Man United 1-6 and then throw a 3 nil lead away against West Ham at home in the next game
Beat Villa 0-4 then lose 3-0 at Fulham.

See the theme? We keep thinking we have done something special and then revert straight back type in the next game.
It's who we are mate. And it's deeper than Ange.

Porro was but Kulu was only here on loan and we decided to make the loan permanent after Ange joined.
You're technically wrong on both counts.

They both came under Conte. Kulu in January 2022 on an 18 month loan. Porro in January 2023 on a loan to buy deal.
Neither are "Ange signings" in that Porro was always going to be made permanent as it was done and dusted, and, after haggling a bit off the Kulu price, him too.

Crazy the amount we spent on Ndombele and got virtually nothing back, and no fee.

I think he is the worst signing in the history of the club.
well you cant say we got nothing back
i heard from a very good source we nearly double the money from stadium food stalls

Ahhhh ok. So it didn't count.

I bet you could go through every single team above and around us and show these things happening at points in their existence.

It's football - mate - that's why the league is so tight this season.

Anyone can take points off anyone.

I said it doesn't move the needle. It doesn't really mean as much as some fans think it does.
What would really show we have progressed isn't a one off show, it's winning 5-10 league games in a row. It's not losing to bottom half teams.
Do you think we can do that?
I don't?

But for now all, all judgement on the coach is on pause. For me anyway. I don't know if Levy will pause judgement because our paper thin squad is stretched. Because Levy is Levy.

Que?

Nothing youre saying is making any sense this week mate.

Until we beat Villa and City, I was told we couldn't get results against top 6 teams. Now we do, there are excuses why those things don't matter.

I think you lack nuance here because every team bar Liverpool has been incredibly inconsistent this season.

Every one.

What's happening this season to us is happening to everyone hence the standing in the league right now.

I also think that you have missed my point entirely, the only difference between our squad today and before the City game is one player.

So if we are paper thin now, we were paper thin then and our paper-thin squad just smashed City at home.

Agree! Personally I need to see a run of a significant majority points gain from now until early new year before I start to believe we might have turned the corner on the way to the "next level", along with progress in the cup comps. This and our approach in the January window.
Either way it won't stop me loving/supporting our club, all it means is my enthusiasm will be tempered as this will be my 6th decade following the might Spurs and I no longer bounce as well when I land as I use to!

I think you're arguing for the sake of arguing at this stage.

You went looking for an argument, I didn't give you the ammunition you were looking for, but you've carried on anyway.

I demonstrated that I was happy to give Ange and the team a free pass for city because of injuries.
I have said that with more injuries I'll continue to give them a pass.

You just can't accept that we've beaten the shittest man city team in a decade.
Tell me they're not the shittest man city team and I'll tell you you're lying to yourself.

im not looking for an argument - I'm just trying to understand what you're on about. I still don't know so let's just leave it there eh!

Villa have won 1 of their last 7.
City have lost 5 and drawn 1 of their last 6
You're putting too much value on where they were last season, this season. They're both utter shite right now and we beat them in the midst of that.
If we're looking for positives - it makes a change for us to seize such opportunities. I've seen us go to Old Trafford many times in the past when they're supposedly on their knees and get beat.
The same for Stamford Bridge. They can be an absolute laughing stock and still beat us there.
So it made a change for us to actually take the opportunity to win.
Make no mistake though, what we beat was not last seasons City or Villa. So why get so erect over it?
I think you lack nuance here because every team bar Liverpool has been incredibly inconsistent this season.
I think you lack the ability not to quote me and argue with me even when there really isn't an argument to be had.
Every one.

I don't care about anyone else.
I also think that you have missed my point entirely, the only difference between our squad today and before the City game is one player.
And I acknowledged that. Before the match. AND after it when you went out of your way to quote me. - so you're the only one missing anything.
So if we are paper thin now, we were paper thin then and our paper-thin squad just smashed City at home.
Our paper thin squad smashed a shite Man City. The same one that threw away a 3-0 lead against a farmer team last night with players who wouldn't get on our bench.

So do yourself and me a favour, and stop this nonsense.
If you view THIS city as a scalp, then you probably punch old ladies and claim you're hard.
