Everything with Postecoglou seems to be high risk, which, to state the obvious is fraught with danger.

It is also quite clear for those who equate an excess of goals to their level of excitement, that mant (or a few) buy into Postecoglou's methods.

As mentioned and exactly right, you want a player like Van Der Ven to use his exceptional pace infrequently and when that is not the case, you are risking his main asset but you are also exposing the fragility of your way of playing.

All over the pitch we are just insipid when needing to be stronger and simply too easy too easy to play against.

We have an excess of injuries, which any teamwould struggle to manage. Let's not dismiss that because of any dislike of Postecoglou's tactics.

Part of me wants to see Postecoglou get a full 2 seasons, because the narrative if he is sacked is that he would have been fine with more time. It's always the way but how long do you wait? And the risk if you wait too long?

In January, regardless of who the manager is, we need 2/3 players.
High risk, no reward, it's who we are mate...

:ange-arms:

Bournemouth game should have been the end of this debacle, an entire half of posing no threat whatsoever in attack, whilst they carved us open at will.

What tf is the point of this system exactly??? Even when it's working as intended the attacking is boring and predictable...

It's funny you mention Sherwood, because the more and more we are subjected to Ange, the more and more he seems like an Aussie copy of Sherwood.

Big ideas about attacking football, absolutely no clue how to implement it at this level.

Main difference is that Sherwood was better at it, because under him we were pretty consistent in beating the sides beneath us.
Sherwood had a much better points per game too.

I think what hurt Sherwood is it was pretty obvious whenever he opened his mouth the man's an idiot. And Ange is at least smart enough not to offer his seat at WHL to a fan.

Also Sherwood didn't have any track record to go on, like some nothing title in East Asia that people could point to and say "look he's a football genius, back him!"

But as far as the football goes I see no more brains going into Ange ball than I did Sherwood ball.

Expect him gone in December.

Most likely after Chelsea thrash us at home again.

Chelsea thrashed us at home and still expect Ange gone this month.

He's clinging on now. Mid table squad sitting mid table is no disaster, but 3 transfer windows deep taking a top 6 squad to 8th-14th standard is the kind of thing that just makes me lose interest in football.

I don't know how some of you can continue to invest thousands of pounds and most weekends each year into this.

Sure Levy is to blame for most of our ills. We’ve lost 19 of our last 43 league games playing this Angeball system though. It’s clearly not working and there’s no Plan B. He won’t entertain playing any other way or ‘compromising his principles’. That can only end one way.

Exactly. People will say you are cherry picking numbers but he’s lost 19/53 league games including 19 in 43. It’s more indicative of the norm and I cannot believe it’s nearly 11am and there’s no noise. Nuno went for less.

From the Fulham game last season its played 26, Won 10, Drawn 3, Lost 13. Thats 1.26 ppg. Gets you 48 pts over a season. That is Gross, Ramos levels and its clearly getting worse not better.

What will end up getting Ange the sack is our inability to avoid defeat when things start to turn. You just knew we'd get nothing from the game as soon as Sancho scored.

Brighton, Ipswich, Chelsea, Palace, Bournemouth. We should be coming away with at least 5 points in those and we'd be having very different conversations right now.

Ultimately they were all the same, we won fuck all
And shopped in the bargain basement every season
They’re not though.

The years under poch we were fantastic, one year under conte was good, Jol had a good season or 2 Redknapp took us to the CL with a some unbelievable football with some insanely good players.

To say they’re all the same is ridiculous. So because in your mine ‘trophies’ in the only metric of good season 2007/08 was a best cause we won the league cup but finished 11th in the PL. yeah brilliant. What success!

Come on, don’t be so reductive

I mean, if you're adamant about being positive you could justify any loss with the old "if only we'd scored more and conceded less" argument...
If we won all our games that we lost since he came, we'd be top now as last seasons champions.
It's not his fault the players didn't listen

Sherwood was better. Look at the state of "his" squad. We had a very young Walker and Rose, a new Vertonghen with any of Kaboul, Chirichesor Dawson. In midfield our most used players were a waning Lennon, Paulinho, Eriksen & Dembele. Neither of the latter were much use in that season. And our forwards?
Soldado. Adebeyor. Coulthirst and a kid called Kane.
Sorry, but Sherwood getting 6th with that lot Vs Ange sat in fucking 11th with what he has is pathetic.

Fail to beat Rangers + defeats to United and Pool and that's a wrap I reckon, regardless of Southampton result.
He shouldn't make it to Southampton.
He just shouldn't.
But if we do lose, and he isn't sacked immediately after the game, then something iffy is afoot. And that iffy, to me, is a lack of interest in the football side of the business.

I heard an Ange quote this morning from after yesterdays game which just sums up how clueless and stubborn he is.

He actually said something along the lines of

"I don't know any other way mate, as far as I am concerned it was good enough to get us into a 2 goal lead, so why should I change?" suggesting his tactics clearly aren't the problem

I mean WTF!! That sums up everything wrong with him. How can he not realise that despite being two goals up, our style of play was so open that the opposition were very likely to get back into it. As far as he sees it, he is doing nothing wrong.

That beyond anything is why HE HAS TO GO NOW. He is so arrogant and stubborn.

I can't believe he hasn't gone yet. What are the club waiting for!

They must just be stupid or something...

Looking forward to another Southampton away post-match press conference meltdown from the Spurs gaffer...

Whats ange training? Right lads straight into a match. 😀
We don't look like we're coached at all anymore.
We're a total mess. There's constant panic when teams attack us. I feel like circus music should play whenever a team puts a ball into the box and it starts pinging around. The attackers seem to make the wrong choice every time. That Son shot that went high and wide for example. Johnson was closing in on the far post un marked. A fairly simple bent pass should have found him to tap in, Time and time again we break a press and a player will dribble through the middle, flanked by 2 team mates, and it almost always goes to the one with less chance of getting free. Happens every match.
Then there's the corners. Then there's our FB's playing in midfield making the flanks vulnerable literally all the time.

How is it so many people can't see this? We have a squad of players you were all raving about a yearish ago. Now all of a sudden they're all not good enough but it's not Ange.

WAKE UP PEOPLE.
He's as bad as AVB and Ramos. If not worse.

The thing with playing high risk football, is that you need the best players, or at least close to the best players.

And you need defenders that can actually defend. Porro, Romero, and Udogie are horrible at defending.
