Yeah I agree. It does mean though that once he goes it shouldn’t really take long to get the players playing to their skills. I would just get someone in again who can do that. Football doesn’t always have to be a complicated game. But then again we would be going around in circles unless that person also plays the football the squad is built for. I still go back to the summer he was appointed and Poch was sitting there for months by the phone waiting for the call. He was the obvious one to go to.
Cullen and Munn I reckon guilty party. No idea how this bloke who helped with Sydney olympics and some far east football group knows anything about top level EPL.
It’s acceptance nothing much changes till ENIC fucks off and how much managers have to deal with a mess at our club. We don’t have clear options for change anyway, most options mentioned are weak as fuck. If he goes I’d rather Mason pick it up than some of the managers mentioned.
Back the team in January with signings and if that happens and the injury situation clears up and Ange isn’t able to do much better work to get a new manager in the summer. Changing the manager for one that might be no better or worse with an injury mess is a gamble. There is no quick fix short of the board begging Poch or Naglesmann to come in which they won’t do.
We sacked Harry because he'd got a wandering eye, basically downed tools, and was really ready to go anyway.
So we hired AVB - it wasn't working out (we were far better than we are now, though), so we sacked him, stumbled through with Tactics Tim, then hired Poch. We didn't sign any expensive players, but we developed some great young players and it became the best team we've had, objectively, in at least 40 years.
Sacking AVB after 18 months was the right decision.
No - there are no guarantees Ange's replacement will be better.
But, then, he's so shite it's really unlikely to get worse.
But the question isn't "keep Ange and fuck off Levy" or "is the current mess Ange's fault or Levy's?".
The reality is Levy isn't leaving. Few managers can win anything with him, but some can be successful with him. Ramos won a LC, Harry did very well in the league, Poch had a smashing run. So it clearly can be better than this, even with Levy as Chairman.
So the question is keep Ange and keep doing this exact same bottom half of the table shite, or change something. Because what everyone wants to change ain't changing.
What did Levy do wrong? He has never shown serious intent to win. I'd like him to aim higher. Be bolder. Say publically that the aim to win the league, and this is how we plan to do it. If Levy, as Chairman, doesn't believe we can win the league, it more or less guarantees we will always be short.
Part of what he can do is spend a higher % of turnover on players (we still rank low vs peers). Solanke and a couple of promising youngsters is not enough.
It’s funny all that big talk from Ange about going for the league this season (last season after first few games he was happy to let peeps think of winning the league) has all died down now. Don’t here his big mouth now talking about wanting to win the league.
Butler can come across like a politician sometimes. He can come up with all sorts of stats, info and fancy sentences which camouflage what he really means. Think his defo now Ange out but I think he is levy/ Enic in. I remember one show where he defended / justified the ticket price increases. Saying if we wanted investment in the team then prices had to go up. When it was pointed out just saving lloris wages equates to the extra money from ticket price increase.
So, the club is happy to keep sleepwalking down the table while Ange can keep hiding behind the " but muh injuries, mate" after every embarrassing result on a now weekly basis. It's going to be an interesting January seeing how long people put up with this nonsense. I honestly cannot believe he hasn't been sent packing yet.
I was at the stadium with my 7 year old nephew even he could tell the atmosphere in the stadium was shit and hostile. We went in by train hearing most people predicting we were going to lose. Yes it is the holidays which normally means a slightly different crowd but that just felt like a stadium devoid of hope.
I find most people I talk to at the games this year and last are still confused what Ange ball is.

AVB is different because the team had clearly stopped playing for him hence why Tim came in, if that happens to Ange and the players simply give up he is gone and Wells/Mason takes over till summer. We got Poch in the summer which was the right call but that’s the summer, this isn’t the summer. Our squad is bare, it’s light, injured and knackered. It needs reinforcements more than anything else, our front line has no balance player wise and our defence has an 18 year old. That won’t change with a new manager. This January window is huge for us as we need a squad that can handle multiple competitions and any replacement for Ange will need it just as much. The options to replace Ange look weak as fuck which compounds the issue.
Just dont like the idea were going to chuck more money for this manager in january window. Hes spent loads as it is. Comes a point you have to be creative as a manager.

Of course that's expected because we are losing and on a bad run - what we are discussing is whether this fanbase has turned on him, I don't think it has, not yet anyway.

It shouldn’t be for the manager it should be spending to get players for a general way of playing that looks at the whole picture of managers and players. Brighton who are far better run than us despite being a lot smaller apparently have a list of managers and players for each position should they need one due to sale or injury all scouted to fit a way of playing. That means continuity and you can spend without having to worry about about the manager situation.

We need to stop thinking like this, we're not chucking money at the manager, we're improving the squad - whether Ange is going to stick around is irrelevant, if he leaves we'll recruit another coach to get the best out of these players.
We should always want the board to spend money and improve the squad despite who is managing the players.
Johnson post match said they are giving everything. So players are playing for him. Seems to me ange instructions arent working though. Injury situation is beyond a joke. Must be something to do with that. Crap training or too intense in demands. Im gutted where we are in the table.
