Howe also adapts to who he's playing.

People mistakenly think we keep losing to them despite "outplaying them"

Once maybe. 3 times in a row?.
They're happy playing with or without the ball and they are adequately prepped for game to game.

I noticed in Eddie howes interview after our game he mentioned that you have to adjust in this league or you get found out.

I took it as a little bit of a pop at Ange.

Especially after Ange basically saying Newcastle are part of / a beneficiary of wider league corruption.

I'm not having any of this. We drew Leicester and lost to Ipswich and Palace before the injuries. That's 1 point from matches against clubs currently 15th, 18th, and 19th. With a healthy squad.

I'm so tired of people trying to characterize Ange's struggles as a result of the injuries. Aside from an odd result (City), the results have been poor. The close of last season after the injuries was very poor. He can't manage at this level. He's capable of the odd shock, but he's getting Ramos level results with the 5th or 6th most expensive squad in England.

He's just not good. And we're just going to continue to fail as long as we persist with the fraud.

The close of last season he was poor against teams that we typically struggle against - it just so happened we played 4 of them over 6 games.

He can and should be doing better but that doesnt mean that we cannot discuss reasons and nuance as to why and it doesn't mean that those reasons can't be valid.

Chelsea took 2 points recently off Ipswich, Palace and Everton with a squad that costs 1 billion quid. Should they Sack Marcesa? What is their excuse?

What that shows is that bad results happen to every team - but trends tell a picture too. Our PPG has dramatically decreased since the injuries happened and has been exasperated during the busiest period of the season.

Also the easiest run of fixtures I think we have ever had in the league.

7th (H) - W
17th (A) - W
15th (H) - W
11th (A) - L
12th (H) - W
8th (A) - D
16th (H) - W
15th (A) - D
11th (H) - W
14th (H) - L
10th (H) - W
4th (H) - W
13th (A) - L
18th (H) - W
9th (A) - D
17th (H) - W

In that entire run there's 1 "good" result. Beating 4th away (Villa). There's at least 3 "bad" results losing to 11th away (Brighton), 14th at home (Wolves), and 13th away (Fulham).

The rest is a mixture of absolutely expected and mildly disappointing.

The question was when was the last time we had a decent PPG return? I answered it. You want to add some caveats to that - fine - go ahead - but I was answering a direct question to someone who had just said that POINTS are the only thing that matters in football. Not 'points against teams I deem worthy of fitting my narrative' are the only thing that matters in football.

You don't like the manager so everything you say and respond is viewed through that lens first and foremost, so this is not a balanced discussion at all.

His way of playing does not work at this level. And honestly winning at Celtic doesn't convince, everyone wins trebles there.

Nah, dudu dudu has debunked that 10 game nonsense so many times. There was another 16 game spell after those 10 games that was way more instrumental in us finishing 5th last year.

But that 10 games was the initial pump to show you what the ceiling of this project could be. Then we had a spell playing that well but without the same results to start this season. Now we have the worst injury/availability crisis and run of results in years... If that's not volatility I don't know what is.
Need to stop harking back to those 10 games. Why not concentrate on the vast majority of his games instead. That is a bigger sample of his work.

He has great sales skills. The question is whether he has convinced himself his system will work, or if he's talked himself into a job and is coming to realize it won't. The third option is to think he really has cracked the code and is going to bring innovations that have a lasting impact. My guess is he's gotten one step too far in his career, but I'm no expert. It's interesting to think that maybe he is onto some good ideas but needs to adapt to make them work. If he had a stronger coaching staff and a trusted lieutenant to bounce ideas off of he would probably have a better chance of success.
I can't disagree with any of that, especially the one step too far in his career bit. This is where I would put my chips!

If and when we sack Ange, I can't wait for people to moan about boring fruitless footy again.
Are you sure most managers play attacking football. However for someone unknown reason Ange propaganda has made out as if he’s the only manager in the world that knows how to play attacking football. In football manager history he wouldn’t even be a footnote but somehow his built up some sort of unwarranted reputation. Which he never had when he was at Celtic. I didn’t see ITV want him to be one of their experts at the last WC. Suddenly one season at spurs and his the man they all want.

My friend, I'm gonna guess you don't watch Spurs live? I'm not a season ticket holder but I have access to a ticket via a couple of mates who are. Been 5 times this season, 3 of those since late October. We are not an entertaining side. On top of that we are a losing unentertaining side!
Get this twat out!

Quick release an interview to show he's a nice fella who sounds like he knows what he's talking about...

I'll add this one to the list of Ange crimes :bentancurpoint:

1) Doesn't look interviewers in the eye, sign of insecurity.
2) Coughs too much, probably made our players ill.
3) Stands there with his hands in his pockets, why doesn't he throw his hands about?
4) Made our players catch colds by doing naked rondos in the snow.
5) Why did he change his name, clearly a charlatan.
6) Has a fake injury crisis especially when he's injuring our players!
7) Never criticises the board, clearly Levy in - how dare he take responsibility for the signings
7) Rotates the team too much even though he has ran the players into the ground
8) Hasn't ever produced an away performance like Amorim did at Anfield in the 2-2 win.
9) Doesn't play the inexperienced Alfie Dorrington when we're down the bare bones, give the kids a chance!
10) Allow the press to take his comments out of context and put them in headlines, you know what the media are like!
11) Needs to stop doing interviews with reporters, why isn't he working on corners with Mile and the lads instead!?

Ange Postecoglou says even in-form Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah would find life a struggle at the moment in the Tottenham team he manages.

Spurs are set to face the Reds in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesday (20:00 GMT), during a difficult run of form.

Tottenham have lost three and drawn one of their past four matches, including a 6-3 Premier League defeat by Liverpool on 22 December.

Egypt international Salah scored twice in that game and has netted 21 goals from 27 appearances in all competitions during a particularly eye-catching campaign.

However, under-pressure Postecoglou believes even having an "unbelievable player" in Salah at his disposal would have done little to improve their fortunes.

"Mo is a world-class player, but if you put him in our team now I'm not sure he'll have that same level of performance because of the situation we're in as a group," said the Spurs boss.

"His attacking play, who do you need? You need a team that's kind of in good form, creating opportunities, playing on the front foot, having a really solid foundation of a defence that is cohesive. None of these things exist at the moment."
Glad he's giving our players all the confidence they need before a semi final to a team that ripped them apart a week or so ago.
