Regarding kicking it long- someone suggested the rest of the coaches could've pushed Ange to abandon the principle of always playing from the back. May be something to it. If you think about it we've not done it for 18 bloody months. Maybe Ange is a Stalin who doesn't listen to his generals up until Wehrmacht is at the gates of Stalingrad.
Maybe now he listens as his job was on the line. Maybe after all Mason is learning at the job and we will start seeing improvement.
Personally im going to get off his back for a bit. Fully behind the team and the manager for Woolwich. Liverpool 2nd leg will be a huge test again. Between the two there's a few league games and twice in Europe, I would appreciate if we just don't embarrass ourselves in these and continue treating every game with respect we treated the Cup game yesterday. I want to see a minimum of 7 points from Everton, Leicester and Brentford.

It always amazes me how many buttercups are on this site. Or are they all just gooners? Grow some bollocks for christ sake. We always knew it was going to be a wild ride with Ange. He admitted himself very early on that some might find his ways extreme, with his relentless attacking, possession-based football. Well I for one is still enjoying it. We are the most exciting team in the league. Has everyone suddenly forgotten the dire shite we had to stomach under Mourinho, Nuno & Conte, where they were drilled into safety-first, getting back into shape, safe rather than risky play. Well fuck that! We are Spurs not fucking Stoke City or Woolwich. Just because we have had a few bad results seems like you all think there might be greener grass somewhere else. Tell me where? Tell me also another team that could survive losing four of their first team defence, several attackers and still be getting results like last nights? All I heard from Woolwich fans a year ago is how they would have won the league if Saliba hadn’t got injured. ONE PLAYER for fuck sake.
Get behind Ange. Last night proved the players are!

As the Tactical autopsy thread shows, The data there shows that Ange is not using our most creative and efficient player.
It seems to be attributes that Ange doesn't value so much, but I'd argue that he's wrong in that because top of the list is Salah and most people would say that he's the top player this season. We should firstly use the players most similar to him. That's Son and Madders. Thirdly is Solanke. BJ is low in creativity but ok in efficiency. Deki is high in creativity but lacking in efficiency.
Deki has clearly been inefficient recently. We need to make his role less prominent. Madders should not give way for Deki as we then suffer in efficiency.
Ange needs to use his brain more or listen more to the analysts in the club. Stubborn as he is, I doubt he would be particularly interested.

Good result yesterday but our position in league is unacceptable.

Course it is. No argument from anyone on that. The big question is can yesterday be an actual catalyst for change. Will it actually galvanise us and allow us to put a run together.

Every other decent win there has been an excuse for why it happened.... most notably, the other team was shit or in shit form whatever.... we haven't deserved credit.

Yesterday was a win against the best team in Europe right now with literally a handful of people thinking we might get a result

I said before yesterday the next couple of weeks are going to make or break Ange.... let's see what happens..... the league is so tight just a few Ws and we could move up the table

I'm.not holding my breath, but beating the Scouse is a tiny glimmer of hope

Very good performance from team and coach.

I think Ange and his football theory haents simply hit the hard road of reality in footballs best and toughest league. Ange is a good coach that simply needs to be honest with himself and accept that some things that worked well elsewhere need refinement or improvement here.

My problem has been with his games risk/reward strategy from game to game. Also to a lesser degree the in game management. Although the former affects the latter. Until Spurs assemble Brazil 1970 strategy should be based on opponent of course reflecting the chosen attacking identity of the club.

1-0 last night was not a cynical acceptance that football can never be fun and enjoyable. The could be said if it were 1-0 wins against Ipswitch, Fulham, Palace etc.

You can only play the hand you're dealt. The best poker players don't win because they get better hands than others. They win because they lose a lot less on the bad hands than others.

Already beaten Liverpool more times than Poch, Jose and Conte combined. Continued our ability to get results against City without just living and dying by the counter attack. The goons and Chelsea are the next big mental block to break.

Needs to raise the floor and win games against obstinate PL battlers like Bournemouth and Fulham but the mental block against the title challengers has been dented in a big way

Continued our ability to get results against City without just living and dying by the counter attack.

Is that true? It seems like we are always playing them and almost always Pool on the counter- have we actually won possession against City recently? Pool I'm not sure- I feel like they sometimes try to play more on the actual counter so may have conceded possession to us recently.

Great win vs Pool. I unfortunately didn't see the game as I was traveling. I've read some of the comments- genuinely hope that Ange made the defensive tactical changes with the fullbacks, and that it wasn't just players going rogue. Hopefully vs Tamworth we can pick up a confident win, and gain some momentum to take into the Woolwich game!
