When we lose, we often win those stats and the fans will point to them like they excuse the loss.

The difference is the opposition though isn't it?

We were never going to dominate Liverpool in the same way as we dominated Leicester for example.

All people were saying is that we did dominate Leicester and we should have won but didn't take our chances.

Playing as we did Wednesday against Leicester doesn't automatically assume a win for us.

It's almost as if every game is different with different circumstances and intangibles.

You can even make the shift mid game.

Like, he could have us start off with the heavy press, pushing the tempo and trying to get a couple of early goals. Then after 15-20 minutes they could settle into more like how we played in the second half against Liverpool to let the players breathe while still actively participating in the game. And then back into the heavy press for the final 10-5 minutes of the half.

That's at least what I personally have been advocating for in terms of adaptability. I don't want him to abandon his idea of attacking football. Just to figure out more, different structures to make it work. That we can jump between as a game develops.

I think it's more nuanced than that. We won without expecting to dominate the ball, chances etc against Liverpool.

Maybe that's what Leicester were trying to achieve too?
My recollection of that game, btw, was that we dominated the first 45-60 minutes but only scored 1. They equalised and then had the better chances of the remaining game.
Vardy had a golden chance to score a 2nd. So their plan nearly worked.

Same applies to Newcastle home and away. Woolwich too.
 
He almost certainly secured himself another month, including a favourable run of fixtures after NLD. With injured players slowly coming back, all stars are aligning for a run that'll get us right in the midst of the race for Europe. He has to capitalize, this high of the last match won't last forever.

Turns out we were actually capable of grinding out an ugly win under him, good to know. We weren't mindlessly running at opposition at the expense of leaving vast spaces between the lines under the name of heavy pressing, we gladly sat back and absorbed pressure during stretches without parking the bus, we weren't afraid of playing long at times without hoofing it up, and we actually hit them on breaks. It wasn't the total upheaval in gameplan and principles that some people are making it out to be, and I'd like to see more of it in the future.

Not sure that's true. He's your typical easy going Aussie.
Until it gets to his passion - football.

We, as a lesser nation in this sport aren't respected like others. He's been doubted his whole coaching career so he sticks up for himself, and I dare say in his Celtic and Spurs time in the UK the British press will have hinted at such things. Always having his credentials questioned and always needing to seek to prove people wrong. Not as if he's some bum from nowhere, his football education is just as valid as Pep and Jose learning off Cruiijf and Robson. His mentor was the great Ferenc Puskas.

With regards the young players ( of which there are a number) it boils down to consistency.
They haven't honed their craft yet so up's and down's will definitely happen.
Injuries can slow down consistency in seasoned professionals.
Playing a consistent starting 11 is a massive factor too.

I genuinely think despite league position that he will get us over the line this season in one of the cups. Hes had to put up with a lot of shit recently but I like his confidence. Plus add to that he seems to be tweaking his tactics which is helping.
