I know it's not realistic, you missed my point. I was saying that just because players "are behind the manager" it means fk all in the grand scheme of things, because if we were to keep losing, Ange would be sacked. He wouldn't be kept because the players like him.
I can just imagine Levy going "it's ok if we finish 16th, the players are behind Ange".
Yes, the fact the players seem to be behind him is probably the reason he hasn't been sacked yet, but that only lasts for so long. Eventually results can become untenable.
I hate to break it to you, but you have no evidence the club are doing everything to back him. We would be signing players anyway, because the club needs to. We've signed one young keeper so far this window, hardly proof to say the club are backing him. Even if we sign Muani or anyone else, they will be club signings not Ange signings.
The performance against Liverpool only pointed to us being competitive in a cup game. It won't be the first time a team wins in a cup but keeps losing in the league. Newcastle match was hardly vintage but we still lost, a worrying sign. At the end of the day, under Ange in the league we play well and mostly lose, and we play badly and lose. So the Liverpool win doesn't really mean much, we need results in the league.
I do agree that he will probably last until the end of the season, but at this stage that will be because it's a hassle changing manager mid season, as opposed to unwavering faith in Ange. I think the only way Ange is sacked now, as if results become untenable.
Unfortunately for us, if we continue the midtable form until the end of the season, then we will just have to deal with it, but if it does continue, I hope he's sacked as soon as the ref blows the whistle on the last game. I hope he wins us a cup in the meantime.
Anyway, I can't stop worrying until we start winning some league games
