We are 1-0 up in a Cup SF against the best team in Europe as evidence it can happen
1-0 up from the home leg. Do you really think we're gonna get anything at Anfield? Far better managers than Ange have tried and failed numerous times against far worse managers than Slot and far worse Liverpool teams than this at Anfield and failed time and time again. If we can keep the scoreline respectable that's the absolute most we can hope for, I would be willing to bet £100 we go out of the league cup in 90 mins.

Sticking with ange and buying two players shows we tried to back our manager, which makes us a little more appealing for the next mug
This - I think this is what worries Levy the most, after the way we have treated managers since Poch I'd be surprised if anyone wants to come here, if we stick with Ange till the summer it at least shows we are going to allow a manager a couple of seasons before sacking them.

League and cup form are overwhelmingly correlated. Have a look at the winners of leagues and cups over the past 20 years if you want some evidence on that.

Maybe the last 10 years.

Go back 10 years before that Boro, Spurs, Birmingham and Swansea all won the league cup while having poor league campaigns. 2004- 2013
Highest finish Swansea. 9th.
Spurs and Boro 11th.
Birmingham got relegated!!

Uh oh!!

Far better managers than Ange haven’t beaten Liverpool at home either, nor did they win 4-0 at the Emptyhad.

It’s the Cup, anything can happen

people have been saying has he been sacked yet since this time last year, but they wont accept the truth which i keep saying. This is Levy's guy! he put a ton of time and effort into this current set up that he massively believes in. He isnt going to give it up lightly like he would any other hire.

i just wonder what these tools to help Ange are that keeps getting mentioned. New assistants, new medical team, new players.

What I don't understand is, the club must surely realise that Ange is not the man to lead us to success. Even with only a few injuries, we are a mess tactically. The guy is a complete fraud. So what on earth are the club doing by standing by him? If he's not the man, and he isn't, just fucking sack him.

Even if we had no injuries, this clown would still have us bottom half. The club are run by clueless fucking clowns.

Bizarre. They've clearly given up on him, otherwise they would have had players through the door by now. Heck, if they really believed in this project they would have had more signings in the Summer. We're just kicking the can down the road.
Even with Levys non existant knowledge they cant believe in him. He wont be here next season. Its all the ludicrous dance off about timing/compensation/successor all to the detriment of the team once again.

No but it is evidence that we can beat Liverpool and reach the final.

If we win said final, that would be success.

Agreed- if we get to final and win that final, it would be success.

But I absolutely feel that you are picking very much the parts that you want to believe in.

We actually had two games with Liverpool recently.
In first one, where there was no do-overs, they came out and absolutely humiliated us at our home. Scoring 6 goals. And basically took pauses of playing football when they wanted. And when we decreased deficit, they just started playing again, scoring exactly when they wanted.
In 2nd one, they always knew that it is first leg and result can be corrected later if needed.
In that one they rotated and decided to play weakened side.
Jota -> Diaz
Bradley -> TAA
Tsimikas ->Robertson
Quansah/Endo-> Konate

All four changes were made on purpose and knowingly making the lineup weaker to give some players rest. In which they have a chance for re-do.

In home game they do not have re-do anymore.
Now you can take your pick - if you want to base expectations on other game where they did not have chance to put things right later... or on a game where they did.
