Must be wonderful for an 18 y/o’s development to have the coach attributing defeat after defeat to having to rely on you hey?

What a leader he is. Real Aussie tough guy
It was all about deflecting the poor performances and results onto the players but saying they are doing their best. It’s like being let through by a truck only for the truck to reverse over you. He never once says he could do things differently or change players. He rattles on about playing the same players. Well his had reg all this time and not once has he thought of using him unless his desparate. Same with the youngster when we were losing games and needing a goal he never once tried lankshear. Even Ajayi who scored a cracker has seen no minutes since. Surely he coul ms have come on v Villa nothing to lose.

I looked at an Opta Stats chart on high/low line and high/low pressing intensity. Then I looked at the most recent stats I could find for days lost due to injury (in parenthesis). Often it seems people either think Postecoglou is causing all Spurs injuries or that they are completely random. The truth is somewhere in between. It believe it is fair to say if you play a higher line with greater pressing intensity you are assuming a risk that comes along with that. Ipswich looks out of place, but mainly due to players who have gone out for a long time for surgery. Brighton could be expected to be high based on their style of play but the very high number there is, again, a function of season ending injuries. If I copied any of this information in wrong, apologies in advance, but I'm hoping I got it right.

High block, high pressure: Spurs (655), Man City (543), Southampton (522), Fulham (390), Brighton (914), Crystal Palace (613)

High block, less intense pressure: Chelsea (428), Woolrich (567)

Neutral: Liverpool (467), Newcastle (373)

Low block, low pressure: Aston Villa (421), Everton (437), Ipswich (626), West Ham (280), Brentford (491), Man United (384)

Low block, higher pressure: Leicester City (454), Nottingham Forest (385), Wolves (551), Bournemouth (461)

I run/ran a lot of long distance. I can run almost indefinitely at a steady pace.
If I try to sprint I fall apart in seconds.
If I try to change direction suddenly

Said it before, its like an elaborate con job. Staggering but not surprising that his career wasnt examined more closely. Why wasnt he questioned about his lack of coaching team? This is why its not just him that needs to lose his job over this. The lack of due diligence once again is off the scale.
Munn who knows nothing about football but can organise olympic events. No wonder levy hired him as that is what we do now events.

That wasn't the question. Were you arguing the case for them to be given time or not?

Conte - No. It was clear he had no interest in being at Spurs.
Mourinho - Yes, we should have stuck with him. It's still not clear why he was sacked before cup final. Probably $$$ decision.
Nuno - Clearly if a coach of Conte's ability was available, he was to go.
Poch - It was clear he was burnt out and future of club wasn't aligned with the board. Given what he achieved, should have been given the opportunity to rebuild - but when Mourinho is available; you can see why the boards eyes lit up.
AVB - Probably the closest comparison to Ange. Working with a new squad of questionable quality. Very rigid football philosophy.

The only coach I think that should have been given time was Mourinho. If he was given a better squad, I think that he could have achieved more - however, he is a high achieving coach who wants experienced quality squad - something not available at Spurs - So I suspect this is why the club got rid. "No, you can't have quality players. Make do with this lot; we got them for a good price"

Ange seems on board with the club direction to buy young players and develop a squad over many seasons. Build a close group of players who play for each other, not themselves. Develop an attacking style of football; and lose the Spursy tag - stop being the plucky underdog and start having confidence to win. This may take a few seasons.

The alternatives

Bring in an elite coach - This won't work (see Mourinho, Conte) we don't have an elite squad.

Bring in elite players - They won't come to Spurs. They want to play for prestige teams in the Champions League and compete for trophies.

This makes the term "elite coach" seem a bit backwards.

Are you defining an elite coach as someone who is elite at coaching, or as one that can only coach elite players?

Because the latter description doesn't really sound impressive at all, most coaches could have success if furnished with elite players.

Surely an "elite" coach is exactly what you want to turn a lesser squad into something greater?

Click link: If Ange is eventually replaced, not Poch please.

I think I started losing respect for Ange when he said "I always win a trophy in my second season." What a stupid thing to come out with. You can say that after you win a trophy, but not before. Such poor judgement and leadership to say that, especially at Spurs. It was like a desperate attempt to win over Levy and the fans by saying, "You better stick with me if you want a trophy this season."

Setting himself up for failure, week after week.

And how does a guy who talks to people by looking at the ground, expect to motivate anyone?
