Only 10 points from 5th place with 11 games to go…

This is all true. Can we also admit that some posters (not you) do the whole "Just enjoy your team winning!" whilst very openly provoking people they deem to have been wrong because we have finally got some of our shit together. It's like "oh yeah, unhappy cus we lost BUDDY?" whilst simultaneously going "oh haha you big fucking idiot" as if the person is annoyed at the win rather than the person bizarrely claiming a victory because we won some matches.
To put cards on the table, I didn't really have huge confidence we'd win today. Or against Brentford. I did think we would beat United. So overall we've outdone what I expected, but then my expectations were on the floor. I don't think we were great in any of the 3 games, but we have 9 points so that doesn't really matter. Ange gets credit for ship stabilisation.
I expect we will end up anywhere from 9th-12th and not win the europa league. Does that mean I want that to happen? No, I'd happily take a lot of "see? angeisdasbestcoacheva" to win a europa league title. And it's a fucking great opportunity to, the best teams left in it are fucking Bilbao, Frankfurt and Roma.
That's piss weak and eminently doable which is exciting, but I'm not very excited because of Ange. Maybe I'm completely wrong and he'll surprise me.
I'm sorry that it annoys you that beating Ipswich, United and Brentford has not changed my opinion on the manager. I expect you can imagine how annoyed a lot of us felt when being 16th and losing to Leicester at home didn't change your opinion on the manager either.
Luckily, you're not me. So you won't be sin binned for that comment.
If we manage to win the EL I'm giving him a piggie back down the high road!I'm still not convinced that he is the man for the job, but I so want him to prove me wrong.
Our league position is a disgrace, and even with our issues, we should not be losing against the likes of Ipswich and Leicester at home.
However, should this be the start of an upturn in our results and IF (and it's a big if) we manage to win the EL, then I think he deserves to stay.
He is a proven winner Mrs P, give him all of the tools unbroken and he will get us there, I reckon.I'm still not convinced that he is the man for the job, but I so want him to prove me wrong.

Oi! Oi! Oi!
When you say the guy. What exactly are your expectations?I'm glad we won well today, but I haven't seen anything to make me think Ange is the guy. I'm still absolutely Ange out, but I hope we can do as well as possible until he is replaced, which will most likely happen in the summer now.
Ahhh Rooster - whilst I am Antipodean, I have followed the EPL for decades, and even lived on White Hart Lane. Great times!1. Ange does lack experience at the top level... that is facts and it shows.
2.EPL is the best and richest league in the world so its not an entitlement.
3.All teams who qualify Europe all rotate if they have too, injured or not.
Going by your history you are a hardcore Ange follower. You ONLY post on Postecoglu's thread land you will be gone when he leaves after this season.
Get the fuck out of here.
Glad you enjoyed the winI’d still place the bet mate, toe even goes on that line with me now and it’s instantaneous.
But yeah, nice and calm. Contrary to posts I actually enjoyed the game, it was an entertaining mess. Referee sucked. I enjoy league matches currently, actually feel like free hits.*
My enjoyment of the win won’t stop me from arguing back if someone gets in my E-face and screams ‘SEE? SEE YOU WERE WRONG IM A GENIUS’ because we won a match.

Um, that’s football. That happens in every single game.If it's going to take stuff like;
-Deflected shots going in (see Spence's goal today)
-Opposing forwards missing sitters (see Garnacho last week, Wissa the week before)
-Opposing keepers making grave errors (see Onana last week)
-Vicario making highlight reel material saves on a regular basis
for us to go on a run then I'm not very hopeful. All stars rarely align like that in a certain match, let alone across several matches. I guess players are more fresh and therefore cover more ground due to less congested schedule, but other than that I don't see much of a difference. Giving the ball away playing out from the back, chaotic running around masquerading as pressing, players getting vastly caught out of position are all still there.
I think Ange will be given next season irrespective of results now. As long as we don’t go into freefall I should say. A quarter or semi in the EL and a finish around 8th in the PL, he’s safe.We will not win the Europa League and we will still finish 10th or below. Does that do it for you? Or essentially, the season overall will be viewed extremely negatively when it closes, and Ange will end up losing his job. Nothing in the last 3 wins has remotely come close to changing that opinion for me.
Not sure its that set tbh. I think he needs a dramatic turn in results to get next season. Would need a top half finish and to make Europa semis at a minimum.I think Ange will be given next season irrespective of results now. As long as we don’t go into freefall I should say. Remember Levy signed him for 4 years. Ange is known as a project manager and Levy would have been sold that from Ange. It’s the one time Levy will actually show some restraint and try have some stability. He knows Ange is instilling cultural change. Plus the injury crisis has given him some leeway this season.
Wish him gone all you like, you’re going to be disappointed.
Yep agree. I think realistically we finish around 8th and let’s hope with a trophy. Not sure its that set tbh. I think he needs a dramatic turn in results to get next season. Would need a top half finish and to make Europa semis at a minimum.
But completely agree with you about this place been totally out of touch with reality when wishing him to be sacked mid season. There was genuine hysteria about us being in a relegation scrap and needing to bring in Sean Dyche a few weeks ago. Honestly you have to just laugh at some of the stuff you see on here.
I think he'll be lucky to get next season tbh. He'll need a dramatic improvement in results so that it was obvious the injury crisis was the main factor in our terrible spell. I hope he can turn it around but he's up against it
I’m not a mathematician but anyone tell me how many points a game, in the games he’s played, and what that would be on the ladder, if he’d played every game for Vicario, against the combined foster, Austin, Kinsky combo?
By my rough calcs we’d be top four if Vicario had played every game at the same points per game, and equal with Ipswich/leciester based on the three headed monster we’ve had to play in his spot.
Sometimes it’s not that complicated.
Suppose more the last two games when Vicario, Maddison and Johnson have come back. The point that returning players have helped. Why does everyone go on about the past 3 games - we’ve won 3 of our last 5 - why does getting knocked out of both cups in the space of 3 days no longer count.
9 points in the last 3 league games means very very little - I would have been far happier with 3 points and winning both cup games.
If we go on a bit of a run in the league and finish say 9th - are people seriously going to want Ange to continue? If so, why?
