Only 2 wins against the current top 11.

Another thing that is hard to understand about his style. After the game he said we were too passive in the second half like there was nothing he could do about it. Why not take a step forward and get into the players?
He had 2 of the leaders group on his side of the pitch second half, get into them as well…leaders do your job and lead.
well done for going through the pain barrier to dig that stat out. Chapeau.Of the sides above us we've won 6 league games all season.

Thought this was a pretty interesting watch. Sorry if it's been posted before. The comment about the players having to have ultimate synergy for the system to be at its best is a total failing given how much the manager changes the team, even with everyone back. It relies on players being too clever imo, which none of ours are particularly. That and just generally being risk averse.
That's on the players themselves tbh. You don't see them taking risks in game anymore. It's all too predictable. He has a history of not playing within the limits of his players ability. But risk averse? I've never hear that said about his football philsophy.
And all of those were entertaining coached wins....but....but....we've scored LOADS and if we lose its only by the ONE GOAL

because when they lost the ball they all had a 70 yard sprint back every time. its braindead football. That's on the players themselves tbh. You don't see them taking risks in game anymore. It's all too predictable.
Agreed, that has to play on their minds as well. I'm not defending the 'system'. It's playground stuff really. Flood forward, flood back.because when they lost the ball they all had a 70 yard sprint back every time. its braindead football.
yes its playground stuff. hes potentially ruined VDV's career.Agreed, that has to play on their minds as well. I'm not defending the 'system'. It's playground stuff really. Flood forward, flood back.
Congratulations on the marathon. A few from our club ran it too and mentioned how warm it was.ran the Brighton marathon yesterday in searing heat and a tough wind. Beat my PB by 40 mins. Didn't walk once. (OK blatant)
My mates all crowded round me at the end as I was staggering around with a medal and not quite knowing what was going on. I couldn't wait to be congratulated, lifted onto shoulders, carried round like an FA cup winning scorer or skipper.
"bad news mate! We won so he's still in charge for Thurs!"
What a fucking let down
hmmmbecause when they lost the ball they all had a 70 yard sprint back every time. its braindead football.

Also relies on our players being a bit smart and having a bit of savvy when instead we have Spence and bergvall colliding in the right wing position
Excellent post.I genuinely thought the injuries in Nov, Dec and massively impacted the squad and serious criticism of Ange was unfair. And that he was badly let down by the club in Jan, and it was not all his fault. But since Feb, and players have returned, we look clueless. The football is disjointed, slow and predictable. Our defence is like a sieve. We cannot defend counter attacks or the back post. Our central midfielders look slow, lethargic and have zero creativity. Our WFs, look devoid of ideas and confidence (whether Son, Tel, Johnson, Odobert, Werner etc.). Ange ball is broken, it has been figured out, and he has to go.
One of the big problems I think we have is that our FBs invert way too soon. As soon as our CBs get the ball the FBs are stood halfway in the oppo half in a central position, which is congested with passing routes easily blocked. Watch the first 10 games of last season and the players ran off the ball after it passed them into advanced positions. The play was 1 or 2 touch, and midfielders always had a forward pass option. Now, when our CBs have it, the only pass is a ball to the WFs who have to run back towards their own goal with no FB behind him to lay the ball off to. Both Son and Johnson look terrible comign towards their own half. The only way we are creative is if Romero pulls off a 'through the eye of a needle' pass and Maddison or Kulusevski turn their man, or if VdV thunders through the opponents press with an aggressive run.
Not necessarily. Could also be an idiot.
