You're absolutely right there. Ange has made a complete mess of every competition this season, including the Europa league. However we're still in it, we have a chance to win it and get that 'Spursy' tag off our backs a bit, plus it leads to CL qualification.
I just think as fans we should be proud to win a trophy regardless, and not focus on the negative aspects that it's not as prestigious as the CL or PL.
 
The EL is not a second rate trophy. And the rewards are certainly not second rate.

But it is objectively a second rate standard. With no CL teams dropping down, it’s a pale imitation of what it used to be.

We are fucking rank and are about to play Igloo merchants for a place in the final.

It's not like we haven't been close.
Like, in many cases, closer than we are right now, today.
League Cup final in 2021 - Finished 7th, lost a cup final. We were 6th goin into that Final.
2019 CL final - finished 4th
League cup final 2015 - finished 5th
We've also had 2 semi finals of the FA Cup and finished 5th and 3rd in the process.

What has happened in this league season is absolutely, unequivocally unacceptable. If we somehow get through the next 3 (that's a lot of) games in the Europa League and win it, I almost feel like they should engrave "THFC Winners 2025 (but they were shit in the league) on the trophy.
It will be a stain. A tarnish that can never be detached from winning it. They will be forever linked.
I even remember West Ham winning "the European Cup" and were fighting relegation all season. If I remember them struggling in the league, I will, forever remember how bad we were.
Not least because I've been there in person for most of these humbling home losses this season.

1) Champions League
2) Europa League
3) Europa Conference League


It is literally a 2nd rate cup.


Much like we're a 16th rate premier league team. Probably 17th rate soon.
 
The scars of Ange's reign (I mean that as in the whole chickens coming home to roost clusterfuck that's been compounded by an inept manager, I don't mean I think it is solely down to Ange) are going to take a long time to heal I think. Getting someone in that can at least steady the ship somewhat and get us out of this doom loop that has normalised losing would be a start. We don't have an excellent squad, far from it, but it should be nowhere near 17th imo. Just want this dreadful season, and Ange's reign, to end asap and pray that we somehow snatch a trophy out of its jaws, even if the chances of that are realistically incredibly slim.

Ange is uniquely obnoxious. He’s this heady concoction of arrogance, incompetence and pettiness that makes him truly unlikeable.

Of course fans will moan about the next manager. It’s part of the enjoyable pantomime of football. But he will be nothing like as disliked.

3 managers out of how many under ENIC? their success rate is very rare, add to the fact none of those 3 won anything

plus i very much remember spurs' fans attitude towards poch in his final 12 months, actually you know what the abuse was there for redknapp too in his final 6 months as we hardly won a game , the infamous mind the gap season . like a 12 point lead over Woolwich with 10 games to go or something ridiculous and they overtook us and we got knocked out the CL places on top

I’ll 100% celebrate winning it and I want this trophy desperately, but if you look at it purely objectively rather than emotionally, we’re in the semis because we haven’t had to play a particularly high standard of opponent.

You know you can think both things!
 
Didn't watch the Pool game and won't be watching another league game this season.

Why would I waste my time tuning in when clearly the manager and players are now treating the PL as glorified training sessions? It's a complete embarrassment and an insult to fans.

Having this fat chancer in charge of the team is the lowest point I can remember as a Spurs fan. It's so bad that even a EL win will probably feel hollow.

Ange has created a divide with the coaching staff and players on one side and fans/media on the other. Like we are out of line to criticise a historically bad PL campaign and 17th place finish all because we've beaten a few tin pot sides in Europe's B competition and may go on to win a trophy.

The guy is a grifter and his exit can't come soon enough.

I dont doubt Levys incompetence to make shit appointments but really bored of the false equivalence. This sort of league season has only been seen 3 or 4 times since the war. This isnt Jol, Redknapp or Poch or even Conte or AVB. This isnt normal. He's just a useless manager.

I understand what your saying , but no one , and I mean no one , can underestimate the power of our league position or number of games lost .

Cups are cups , league position generally show your true quality of football .

He's not stupid , he's been mentioning about everybody talking about him supposedly being gone by now , he knows he's on death row and the Europa is all in for him , hence the team he put out today .

This. When either of those names under-performed and got sacked we were around 10th-12th at the worst.

Ange is breaking negative record upon negative record this season. It is bizarre that he has been kept on for so long.

yep lets just hope it hasn't been for nothing and we're all toasting to our first European trophy in 40 years a month from now
 
I just feel really sad that Levy isn’t brave enough to sack him today and increase our chances of winning the Europa drastically.

All because he is too scared we don’t win it and the narrative then becomes that Levy made a huge mistake sacking this fraud.

He knows he should sack him but he doesn’t want to be accountable like he was with the Jose sacking.
