Levy is to blame most in all of this, let's not forget that.

As an aside, in 1991 (when we won the FA Cup with Gazza and Lineker), we only won 1 out of our 15 leagues games after January, but no-one remembers that because we won the FA Cup.

I'm sorta surprised by that - I didn't remember us being that bad despite keeping a match diary in my school homework book at the time ^^

By the same token, most people will remember us being pretty crap in 1999 and 2008 when league results were objectively better than 1991. I think the style of football makes a difference, and obviously that semi final win in 1991 made memories as well.

Different era as well. No social media like there is today. Now we're drowning in the misery of the situation. Back then I remember it was have a crap journey back home (or go to the pub with mates and talk about something else) then reset and forget until the next game. A lot more healthy for the mind.

We even lost 5-1 to Wimbledon that season.
The signs are all there……..

Just need a crazy free kick to go in on Thursday night.

Weird season that... we only lost 1 game from the start of the season until the end of November... we were 3rd but of course we played Chelsea on December 1st, lost that and preceded to win just 3 games the rest of the season (sound familiar?). The club was in serious financial trouble off the pitch. Trading in shares had been suspended and the only signing we made in the summer was the cult hero and dearly missed Justin Edinburgh. We all know the FA then tried to hammer us in the summer which Sugar pushed back on.

Justin was absolute king of the on-pitch wind up. What he lacked in high end ability, he more than made up with knowledge of the dark arts. A player that fans loved and opponents hated.
Sadly went too soon as he was carving out a nice managerial career for himself. Was he the best left back in football? Even he would admit he wasn't but he was all in on every game and the fact he wanted to punch Robbie Savage but restrained and still got red carded... and we still won... puts him up there as a cult hero of mine... even if I cursed him a few times when opposing right winger left him on his backside...

I loved him as a player. Him, Paul Allen, Paul Stewart, obviously Mabbutt, and Samways weren't exactly world beaters but they gave everything for the club and that meant the world to me.

10 draws though.
6 losses.
14 points.

Since the date ticked over to 2025, we've lost 10 league games this season. Won 4, drawn one. 13 points in 2025
And we have 4 very losable games left.
And I don't think we'll win the Europa League after all that anyway
