Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The longer this goes on, the more I think Ange is here for next season.

I get that levy may just be giving him time to deliver on his “winning things” promise, but two things:

1. He’s had plenty of chances to sack him so far this season and hasn’t pulled the trigger.
2. He’s hardly shy of sacking managers during a cup run - see Jose as evidence.

He may just be waiting until summer to open up the market of managers a bit, but again, he’s not shy of putting a caretaker in charge.

I really think the signs are pointing towards another season of Ange.

And before the drama begins, I’m not saying I’m in agreement with this. I’d be going all out to get Unai Emery instead.
To state the obvious, it will certainly get far easier to justify if we do with the EL. I want Ange gone asap, but I do think some on this board underestimate how massive that would be for the club.

I've posted before that my view is if we win the EL, we will start the next season with Ange in charge.

Well that's dumb because we've pretty much thrown the league, the lower you finish down in the table the less prize money you get so that wouldn't make any sense.

What's more likely is loyalty to Ange and optics of not wanting to sack another manager whilst in the latter stages of a cup competition, the club do not want a repeat of Mason ball.

ok

As Shadydan Shadydan said, I can’t believe that’s the issue. We’ve lost millions on our league placings, so it would have to be a pretty hearty contract break fee to make it worthwhile. One I just don’t see Ange having.

I think it’s more that Levy has seemingly tried everything to make the club a success and has failed at every turn. The only two things he hasn’t tried is spending more on fees and wages than anyone else (never happening), or giving a manager, any manager, multiple seasons to get things right. Maybe this is him giving option two a try?

Well he gave Poch a chance as he wasn’t great when he first came here but he probably saw something in Poch that persuaded him to give him time

We’ll probably never know but levy got a lot of criticism for sacking Jose on the eve of a Cup Final so probably didn’t like that and is determined to let Ange have his cup run before letting him go and I think that’s already been discussed between the two !

Ange probably looking elsewhere for a club and Levy looking elsewhere for a manager
IMV

Thank for keeping the debate civilised though without the “that’s a dumb comment!” sort of remarks from the ManChild!

Cunts are useful because they make dicks like you stand to attention and write shit like this!

Oooh big bad me, I spoke the truth about Ange and called your little Maddie the c-word.

Cup or no, he is gone. What a ride eh. Hope he can bring us some glory. Funny that we will look back with great fondness if the ropey goes well, but league is another caper altogether. Ange got my interest up enough to find an online forum, but he’s not why i’m a spurs. Nice work big fella, hope you do well in you next gig in the future - your resume should include ‘got a cup with spurs’ and ‘changed the culture’

So Postecoglou was just a front for Chris Davis, doing PR and and Player liason whilst Chris was the tactical mastermind?
No there was no master mind. But the little cohesive coaching that was being done left at the start of this season with Chris Davis and the dysfunctional shit shower we have endured since has been the result of your Aussie brains trust of Postecoglou, Jedinak, Raimondo. Hey its not me saying it bubba it's all out there.
Advance Australia fair!!!!!

In fact I've made it clear and want to do it again. It's been so unimpressive a tenure that I genuinely feel sorry for a generation of Australian coaches. These clowns have reputationally ruined them. No serious clubs are going to give them a fair shot in Europe no matter how good they are for a long time to come.

You may well be right but I think that the reason Levy hasn’t fired him is probably due to a clause in his contract about still being in a major cup competition which would mean an extra pay off!

If Bode knock us out he’s gone imv
A few reasons why that doesn't make sense to me.

Why would Levy ever agree to something so restrictive?

What kind of bargaining power did Ange really have to insist upon it? Can see how he might have wanted something like that based on Mourinho, but we're hardly talking about a top tier manager who could play hardball over it.

Surely if one side was putting in such clauses then Levy would be putting in something equally weighted on such dismal league performance?

Reminds me of when people were convinced that Levy sacked Jose a week before the cup final because he didn't want to pay him his payout if he'd have won that 😵‍💫

So the manager that won a sixtuplet (CL, Bundesliga, German Cup, European Super Cup, Club World Cup, German Super Cup) is playing Angeball?
Let's be real, there is no "Angeball", he just picks 11 names and chucks them out on the pitch.

Randomly telling a few of the positions to do batshit things does not warrant being credited with having developed your own system.

Me deciding I'm gonna throw some rice in the toaster instead of the standard method doesn't make me the originator of Herclueless-cuisine does it, it just makes me a fucking idiot.

It's funny some of the Internet rumours that somehow become set in stone and taken as fact.

Harry Winks the dressing room mole of yesteryear.

Ryan Mason Levy's man on the inside.

Tons of others that are escaping my recollection right now.

No evidence whatsoever, but the hate generated is very real.

…AND the inventor of Herclueless-cuisine!

That would be a shame. He should of been gone mid-season and certainly once his pressers became a side show.

Theres probably a degree of that and showing the next incumbent that he hasn’t got an overly itchy trigger finger. They stuck with him through the injury crisis and by the time that was over it was probably a case of we may as well limp on to the season end.

Ange has effectively cooked his own goose and no one (with half a brain) could argue he doesn’t deserve the bullet!
