That Leicester side that won the fa cup and competed under Rodgers was a completely different side that was rebuilt like 3 years after the title winning team. Just like our side will need to be rebuilt over years.
Mate, you're trying to evolve this into something different to the original premise you set. The Leicester side was rebuilt due to them selling off their prize assets, not because of the "damage" done by the previous manager. Totally different scenario.
Also the fact that your acknowledging that Leicester had and forest are likely having freak seasons is surely proof that it does take seasons to rebuild a poor side?
I acknowledged that Forest are having a freak season? They bought in a raft of players that the previous manager couldn't get a proper tune out of. Nuno has come in and essentially fixed that in a single season. THAT is the point I'm getting across. They may not hit the current heights again, but it is highly unlikely they'll be back flirting with relegation again.
You could say the same for Iraola. It took him half a season to take relegation flirting Bournemouth to a team that is admired by all, and he lost his star striker as well.
Otherwise they wouldn’t be freak seasons, they’d be sides capable of maintaining consistent challenges (like the rebuilt Leicester under Rodgers, where they clearly wanted to build something more lasting unlike the freak title winning team that was unsustainable)
Again, this is irrelevant to the original premise. Both teams were able to undo previous "damage" in a single season. Leicester may have fallen back from what they achieved when they won the title, but that was due to player sales, not because the same team turned back to shit again. Had they kept their key players you may have a point, but they didn't. Forest can't be construed as a freak season until we see whether they revert. They've invested heavily in playing staff and Nuno has them ticking. It remains to be seen whether they maintain a similar level or not. Even if they don't, getting them to challenge in the top half regularly is an achievement compared to previous managers with the same squad. In other words, the "damage" from the previous manager was fixed in a season.
I look at this club over the last 5 years and I see 2 halves of seasons where we played sustainable, consistently good football: second half of 21-22 season under conte, first half of 23-24 season under ange. Everything else has been largely shit if we’re being honest and we’ve been massively bailed out by having Kane in the side and in-form Son at times. Now Ange has been horrific don’t get me wrong, but it’s lazy to suggest that 20 fucking losses in a season is purely down to a manager. That’s down to a shit mentality, a lack of quality AND shit tactics.
That's only part of the equation. The massive injury list has had an enormous impact as well. All have contributed to a "freak season" for us where confidence in the league is in the gutter. That confidence is only apparent in the EL, and that is largely because the tactics have helped the team to play with a lot more solidity. It has been apparent to all that we are a better side when the setup provides that platform. Why we haven't adopted the same setup in the league is anyone's guess, but I think the majority would agree that had we, we'd be a good way higher in the league.
This team is done, and we’re in for a rude awakening next season if we go into the market thinking that it will take us back to the promised land. That is unless the ambitions have changed and challenging for the top 4, titles and UCL is no longer what we want?
This team is young with absolutely shot confidence, and it will remain that way if we continue to play the gung ho Football we've played virtually all this season. A reset, with more solidity will, I believe, allow for confidence to build and momentum to be built.

The long and the short of this is that we will have to wait until next season to see who we get in and how they set us up. We can revisit then.

17th in the league.

Last season I said it. I was in the minority, but I said it.
Lose the next 2, which is likely, not just possible, and we finish the season on 1 point per game.
I showed how, over every period of games after those first 10, that the ppg was tumbling downwards at an alarming rate.
That began LAST season. No Europe. Out of the league cup at the first hurdle. No FA Cup run. And STILL the ppg was getting worse and worse.

If this guy is here next season, we're in actual trouble.

The 'speech' Ange gave post-match last Thursday n Bodo was telling ..

When Solanke & Porro came in later, cheering (after doing interviews I guess) Ange properly "Shusshed" the team like ' teacher's talking now'
It's not much, but it stuck out?

Hasn't that useless twat Levy sacked him yet?

If not, why not? He's turning the team into a mirror-image of himself - useless, clueless, beyond hope, clinically depressed and an utter dismal failure.

Stop sitting on your hands, Levy. DO SOMETHING.

Our almighty run to the Europa League final has seen wins against such mighty opposition as
Qarabag at home
Ferencvaros away
AZ at home twice
Hoffenheim, 16th in Germany away
Elfsborg at home
Frankfurt away
Bodo glimt, a club with 8k seats in the north pole, twice.

We got utterly outplayed and beaten by Galatasaray. Lucky to get draws Vs Rangers and Roma. Beat by AZ away when we were awful.

This has not been some character defining run to a final. This has simply been 2 English Clubs (same applies to United here) actually taking the competition seriously for once and playing the "best" 11 in the Europa and "resting" them for the PL. There's no magic from Ange. If we win this, it's not because he has a super power of always winning something in his 2nd season. It's a competition full of poor teams. Poor financially and poor technically.
And we could still be the more shit team in a final featuring 2 shit teams.

No point asking this every day. It will not happen. The bigger concern is whether Levy does it after the season if we do bag the ropey league. THAT is the debate now.

Yes he will. He knows it, the players know it. My only concern is how long it drags out. If we win and do a parade would they keep him on for that? I'd hope not. They need to take their thumbs out of their arses which have been shoved up there for the last 8 months and sack him the day after the final if we lose or the day after Brighton if we win.

He hasn’t defended the club in the slightest. His whole modus operandi has been to play down the achievements of the club to defend himself. On the eve of Bodo Glimt, he said this club isn’t used to getting to semi finals - we’ve been in 8/9 over the last 10 years.

Compare him to Amorim. Amorin is a winner who is disgusted with his team’s league form. Ange is just a chancer who only cares about backing up “I always win a trophy in my 2nd season” .

As for his comment “If getting to finals is so easy, why aren’t the top 3 in one”? - I mean how utterly thick is that?? Is he comparing Arse playing Real Madrid and PSG to us playing Frankfurt and Bodø Glimt??
Is he saying that Liverpool winning the EPL isn’t as significant as getting to a Europa final. And they walloped us in the League cup semi final to get to a final.
Oh and Man City are in a final anyway.
The bloke is an utter fucking plank.

If we win the Europa, it’s in spite of, not because of him. I’m bloody annoyed that my enjoyment of next week’s trip hinges on that arrogant, gaslighting baffoon enjoying it with me.

It’s our second European Final in 40 years. That’s not downplaying, it’s reality.

Then look at his defense of the media’s relentless diminishing of anything good that happens to this club…

As for bigging up Amorim. GTFO that’s simping for the opposition. We owe United nothing and we have every right to believe we can beat them. Because we will

I can see a wave of sentiment coming towards Ange from the fans and the media if we win.
Even if the the final is horrendous.
Even if United have 3 players sent off and we win in the last minute after playing with our backs to the wall against 8 men.

There will be a very vociferous crowd asking how we can sack him.
You know why it should happen as well as I do.
But if the noise gets loud enough, I can see Levy caving and giving him next season. At least until it all goes to shit again.

Well, if we look at this season, he did rest VDV, Romero and Udogie for all the early cup fixtures; so, any accusation that they were overplayed is unfounded.

Quite simply, if as a coach the backup players you are given by the club are young and inexperienced (Bergvall, Gray, Spence, Odobert, Moore, Sarr, Dragusin, Tel, Kinsky) or are just plan crap (Werner, Regguilon, Bissouma) then it makes rotation of the squad difficult - because you are far more likely not to get a decent performance. Senior players such as Davies and Son are showing their age and Bentancur and Richarlison both coming off a very injuries that could have been career ending.

The club needs to furnish Ange (or whomever our next coach is) with a BALANCED squad. The team on the pitch needs to have the right level of experience and ability no matter what rotation we have.

Any coach in world football with the squad and injuries we have had this season would be sitting in the bottom half of the table. The question you have to really ask :

1. How many of those coaches would have thrown their toys out the pram, lambasted the owner and sulked (e.g. Jose, Conte, Poch)
2. How many of those coaches would have sacrificed their own job to get the bare bones team into a European final.
Thanks for the insight, Ange.

No Scott Munn and 2 new people in charge in Vinai and Paratici. They will want their own man, not a bloke who has just finished 17th and overseen a record number of defeats. I mean if not all that they have the perfect example on not acting on sentiment 12 months ago with Utd and Ten Hag.

I hadn't seen the comment about not being in Semi finals very often in Europe.

That's partly because between 16-19 we were mostly in Europe's premier competition. And made that final.
It's also very much because every other manager we have had has NOT taken the Europa League seriously at all. They have all done the polar opposite of what Ange is doing - they made 8+ changes on a Thursday, usually resulting in a poor performance in that competition. Then back to winning ways on Sunday in the league.
Because they understood that the PL matters. They also, all of them, had no CL place to gain from winning the Europa League. He is the first manager we have had that has been in this competition when that is on the line.
