Your agenda is boring, I've been a long time lurker of this forum and I've decided to sign up and post tonight solely because I'm sick of you stinking up this thread with your arrogant negativity.

You don't rate the Europa league and you never have, you've been downplaying our European run for months in this thread and I'm convinced you haven't even celebrated our greatest night in 17 years because all of your posts have been about how we only faced rubbish opposition.

The fact is Ange has won a major European trophy and in 40 years time nobody will give a damn that we finished `17th in the league, he won us our first trophy in 17 years and our first European trophy in 41 years, all the years of mockery from our rivals ended as soon as we lifted that trophy. That achievement of winning a trophy and securing champions league football + bragging rights over our rivals is superior to securing champions league football and winning no trophies.

There are also 2 mitigating circumstances that you refuse to acknowledge. The first is how many managers would recover from losing one of the best players of all time (Kane) in their first season of managing the club, a player that our whole club had been built around, not to mention losing an inform Son .. not many managers would recover from this. Can you imagine Poch Conte and Mourinho without Kane?

Secondly.. October to December we were decimated with injuries and from January to may Ange clearly calculated that winning the league was out of the equation and we needed to win a trophy so he put all his eggs into the European basket and the players clearly bought into that vision as well. They took a risk and it paid off massively but this whole lost 21 games nonsense doesn't even take into account that simple fact that the players didn't give a damn about winning a few pointless premier league games when the European trophy was there to be captured.
I refuse to hold that decision against the gaffer because it paid off.. He deserves the chance to bring in quality players and build a legacy, he is the man to take us forward and I fully believe that. I don't like the fact that you and other posters on here almost bully people who dare to hold this opinion.
Post of the thread!
Welcome!

I see what you’re trying to do here and it’s unbelievably pathetic. It shows that the hard truths I hit you with are eating away at you and your embarrassingly trying to switch it around and say Ive ran away to hide. When in fact ive been on here all week. You’re the coward.

And for your information i was unbelievably emotional after the final. My father is the reason I support spurs but he died a few years back. So yeah watching them lift a trophy without him being around was very emotional. Don’t you fucking dare insinuate anything to the contrary you snake.

If you check the actual facts, hamstrings were not the cause of most very important injuries. They were mainly VDV issues. Vic, Maddison, Son, Kulu, Dom, Cuti which were very much missed had injuries that had nothing to do with training or playing intensity.
I think that this 'training and style of playing caused the injuries' song should come to an end.

Eh? VDV, Son, Romero, Odobert, Werner, Udogie, Richarlison and Davies all had hamstring issues and almost all were poorly managed and had a recurrence of the injury. Johnson and Sarr had calf issues too. Then there’s all the players who Ange described as “sore” without any proper detail. We also had stress fracture injuries to Romero and Deki which are a clear sign of being overtrained/played.

So clearly a huge amount of injuries, mainly in the first part of the season when Ange was having them do insane amounts of running. Since he stopped playing that way in February the issues have eased up a bit. It’s absolutely clear that his style of play cause injuries early in the season, Ange himself has more or less admitted this.

I'm talking about this thread, you thick twat.

So he gets a 2 million pound bonus for winning the Europa.

Now, if he gets sacked, its rumored another 5 million. Poor bastard if that happens to him....

Then Levy has to pay someone at least that, with higher expectations for him, and a real risk of failure.

Let's get real here: Levy will not buy ready-made league-winning players for next season, so no, we're not winning the league next season even with Ancelotti or Guardiola. So realistically we're a cup team.

Just as well because I'm nearly certain Postecoglou personally prioritizes the Champions League over any other club trophy.

Yes, I can imagine it, because it's not difficult to achieve, you're talking about professionals who are paid tens or hundreds of thousands of pounds a week to do their job, and they will do their job or fuck off elsewhere in the summer window. Not to mention not being funny but this squad just finished 17th, you can count on one hand the number of players in this team that you would call "indispensable".

I massively feared that sentiment and emotion would get in the way of cold, hard logic when it came to this decision post-final, looks like we'll be back in this boat in November or so if the general fan sentiment is anything to go on...

Professionalism and buy in aren’t the same thing.

Just ask Nuno who never got buy in from older and more experienced veteran players at Spurs than this squad.

You try and hire any of those guys after this it would be a disaster and they’d be gone before you can blink. We’d be right back to being a banter club.

We are 17th. It’s unacceptable and Ange needs to wear that as much as his EL winners medal but let that be the uniting force that Unites this squad to prove everyone wrong in the league next season.

After winning the EL together this season, they will believe anything is possible. You hire Iraola, Frank or Silva, you are telling them to believe that winning things is over now and we really believe we are an upper middle table club who had a freak trophy. Maybe not what you think it says but that’s how the players will see it

Everyone is a cup team except City and Liverpool nowdays

He tried to win the Caraboa Cup but we couldn't beat Liverpool over the two legs. There's no point pretending otherwise like he only wanted the Europa League. If we'd have met Liverpool in the Europa League we most likely wouldn't have won that either.

I don't think he's said that he *only* wanted to win the Europa League, only that when it became obvious that the league was done, he focused like a laser on it, because he felt it was winnable. He was right.

Excellent points that I had not considered.

Fair fucking play to him, I’ve been one of his biggest doubters but he’s given me an unforgettable few nights, nobody can take that away from him. Give him massive credit for Wednesday and Frankfurt away in particular, he got those players ready to die for him on the pitch out there.

I still however think it’s best for all parties for him to leave this summer. The premier league form since November 2023 just can’t be ignored, we have enough sample size to judge his ability to manage us week to week in the prem. He has the chance to go out a hero and be remembered for breaking the trophy drought, I think if he stays he will end up being sacked at the start of next season and it will affect both the way he’s looked at and hinder us next season.

What does change though is the optics, he simply can’t be sacked to be replaced by a silva/iroala type manager, even though I think both of those would do better in the prem, it would just look crazy to sack a European trophy winner for an up and coming mid table manager. For him to leave this summer I think it has to be for a “big name” type who has won before, a Xavi for example.

Interesting to see what happens, because really whatever the board had in place for after Brighton shouldn’t change on the back of one game, but what this cup has done for us and all the emotion of the past few days can’t be ignored. But lastly big up ange for getting us over the line and giving me the greatest night I’ve had supporting this club.

I would argue that conversely keeping him on after finishing 17th in quantifiably our worst ever campaign since the First Division became the Premier League sends a message loud and clear that we are not a serious club that wants to build towards sustained success and are more than happy to essentially "do a favour" to a manager because he finally ended our trophy drought and let us give it back to rival fans for once. You don't think that those players also have it in their mind that they've been an absolute laughing stock for most of the season and had multiple clashes with their own fans, dogs abuse thrown at them all season, and it is in no small part down to the manager?

After finishing 17th in the league under this manager, yes, anything is possible next season, including relegation...

Agreed. The club needs to get him some goalscorers and difference makers in the summer and keep the vibes going.

Lets not forget this was one of the worst finals Ive ever seen in terms of quality. And most games this season I felt like turning the TV off.
