This conversation is frankly ridiculous, and boring now. Palace beat 2 better sides in City and Villa than we had to face throughout the whole EL, you can talk about 12 extra games but look at the standard of half those sides, Bodo x2, Rangers, Qarabag, Ferencvaros, AZ Alkmaar x3, Elfsborg, if you're telling me the side with the 9th highest revenue in the world shouldn't be well equipped to batter those sides with a 2nd string side and stay competitive in the league on the weekend you're fucking dreaming, Villa manage it with half our resources, Glasner's won the same cup as Ange at a team with 1/5th the resources, and didn't tank the league to do so. He told us all he was chuffed with his summer window, he's headhunted half the players, it was his responsibility to balance the competitions and he failed to do so. I don't know how people aren't angry that he's saying we've been going through the motions in the league since january considering the only actual stiff opposition we came up against in the EL through to the final was Frankfurt, and we beat them with fucking Conteball.

Because most people dont give a shit and are celebrating winning a trophy rather than finding reasons to take the achievement away from the players, manager and club.

Name.Checks.Out.

Did Lampard win the league at Chelsea?

What am I looking at on their CV's btw, do you mean more experienced as in they've managed longer or do you mean more experienced in the type of competitions they've managed in?
Longer management experience, managed in the prem etc.

Maybe I’m in the minority here but I don’t put a huge store in their overall managing capability if they’ve only ever managed Barca or Madrid (Xavi and Zidane). Those teams ARE expected to win and I believe anyone with a half decent knowledge of football could achieve reasonable results there. It’s a bit like Kompany at Bayern.

LOL.

Some of you are going to be devastated when he is sacked next week.

If we don't hear leaks via the usual journalists that Ange is staying over the next few days, he is 100% gone.

The silence is deafening in terms of there has been nothing from the club backing Ange in any shape or form whatsoever.

If he was going to be our manager next season, you'd expect to hear something along that lines from the club over the next few days.

Not a single person will be as devastated at him being sacked as you will be if he stays.

Context is important though and Xavi did a pretty impressive job at Barca when they initially had their financial crisis, I hear you on the Prem experience though but it's not always as cut and dry as that - Arne Slot just totally disproves that theory.

Anyway I'm not even pining for Xavi, just trying to 2nd guess the club on how they're gonna make this move...I really don't see the club sacking Ange if a 'big name' isn't available, the optics wouldn't look good.

The only reason I'm gonna be devastated is because it's going to be the death of this thread, some absolutely unbelievable memories in here tbh 😆

Right back at you pal because you don't half chat a lot of dudu.

The wave of positivity I predicted is now well and truly here.
Fans, media, even rival pundits making all the noise that'll make it harder and harder to sack him.

The best team we beat in this, the first Europa League with no CL sides in it, was Man United. 16th in the PL and an absolute laughing stock here. We did it by parking the bus.

He's going to keep his job.
He's going to start next season in charge.
Everyone will be injured by October.
Again.
We will have to play good teams in Europe so no hiding behind a 3-0 win Vs Qarabag.

Thankfully he won't stay so I won't be devastated.

In all seriousness, I do understand emotionally why some want him to stay, I do get that, but it's still absolutely stupid, baseless, and would be a monumental mistake.

If the club decide to keep Ange, it will confirm to me we are very much run by a bunch of clowns.

You can't decide Ange isn't good enough to be manager after a absymal season finishing 17th, and then change your mind because he won a cup. It's really short sighted.

with 10 men for 80 mins bro

Why would they release a statement backing him, straight after a trophy win? I don’t think you can read anything into it right now.

My guess is he starts next season.

I don't expect there to be right now, but there's going to be leaks and noise either way, either that we are 100% on board and Ange is our man, or we are looking at replacements. All should become clear within the next week I would imagine.

It will be a fucking disaster.

The club have such a great opportunity now to build on this new momentum.

Wouldn't it be so very Spurs, the club decide to stick with Ange, next season starts like this season has been for months, and all the toxicity returns and people screaming for him to be sacked and all the momentum and goodwill is wasted as we end up battling relegation.

The idea we suddenly start competing for top 5 places under Ange next season is delusional. Just watch us under him, we are an awful football team, so poorly coached. There is no evidence that next season we will see a miraculous turnaround. It's purely blind hope because people like Ange.

And just wait to see what happens in the CL under him, we'll get battered.

Man Utd were nowhere near the best team we beat...

Frankfurt finished 3rd in Bundesliga automatically qualifying for the Champions League group stage
Bodø/Glimt won Eliteserien qualifying for the final play off round for the Champions League group stage and by the way they knocked out Lazio who are currently 6th in Serie A and still have a chance to finish 4th and automatically qualify the Champions League group stage.
Whilst we didn't beat them (we had no Vic, VDV, Romero, Bentancur, Kulu or Solanke and Udogie was unused sub), Galatasaray won Super Lig automatically qualifying for the Champions League group stage
We also beat the team who knocked out Sociedad, Lyon and the team who are currently 3rd in LaLiga and will automatically qualify for the Champions League group stage.

Too many people are buying into a false narrative that the Europa League is crap. It's bullshit. Yeah people are happy, overjoyed, delighted and maybe some will turn 360. So be it, enjoy the summer, enjoy the winning feeling because it might be another 17 years before you feel it again.

Didn't look poorly coached on Thursday did we... look, most people want him gone and I still think he will depart but if some on here have changed their mind. So be it, it's okay... I must admit I am having seconds thoughts... that stupid record when our back five plays vs when it doesn't is quite compelling. Honestly I'm confused. For so long, I have wanted him to go but if Levy decides to keep him then I'll suck it up and see what the new season holds.

Man United beat the 4th best side in Spain, the hosts none the less.
It's lovely to win something, but let's not try to act as if it was a huge effort against European heavyweights. Most of the teams us and United knocked out would be bottom half of the PL or lower league.

We played Wednesday.

They are utterly mental if they give him another season.

The likes of Antonio, Jose, Poch and likely Nuno would have walked that tournament this year with the current squad and teams we faced and there are quite a few of the teams that would have dropped down that would give us a good game even in the new format.

The change in format from the smaller groups in both CL and EL has been a worse format and lessened both competitions IMO.

Still pissed, no idea what day it is :dawsonlol:

Before the EL I’d have agreed. Fuck, most summers I’d agree but the ego can kick in at times like this.

Levy has seen protests and banners made about him, he’s got the opportunity to make a point this summer… I just wonder
The biggest stick to beat levy/enic with is the one league cup in 23 years - he will be more made up than anyone to add an Europa league winner to the honours list delivered by Ange
Ange has been saying the club have identified the need to add experience to the young squad so I expect the cheque book to come out and ange to stay as manager
