Can't anyone hold two thoughts at once?

+Getting a trophy was great and euphoric.

+The last two years have been godawful, and if we hadn't won Wednesday Ange would already be sacked, and the decision would have 99% approval among the fan base.

He didn't become a different man in 24 hours. Winning this doesn't change the future prospects. The club didn't suddenly surge upward at the end of the season. We'd broken mast and rudder and were listing for months, before putting a performance together (more or less) on Wednesday that was good enough.

All odds are that the third year will be just like the first two, minus the trophy. We are not waltzing through road apples in the CL next year the way we did in Europa this year.

An average manager would be an upgrade so go get one. Ange is still a liability and we can't punt this chance to turn the club around.

Spot on.

Can anyone even remember when we last strung two or three good performances together under Ange?

I mean, yeah we won but the final was shocking quality. We aren't suddenly a team on the up. We don't look like we have a clue. We haven't improved. We simply got over the line in a major final. Monumental achievement, but completely seperate from where we are actually at as a team under Ange. We were largely average to poor in Europe this season, and beat a shocking United side, with the worst statistics in a final since Opta started counting.

What we did on Wednesday night has no bearing on what happens when we line up against top quality PL teams next season. It will in fact be even worse. We struggled massively in the PL last season and combining that with Europa. How do people think we will manage combining the PL with CL matches and quality opposition? It's going to be a fucking disaster.

New signings won't solve the problem when Ange's chosen way to play football is fundamentally broken.

Nobody has any answers to this, it's simply "Ange has to be given another season, we can't sack him after this"

It's based on nothing but emotion and vibes from Wednesday night.

People have given every excuse under the sun for why Ange failed in the PL, it was dogshit performance after dogshit performance, we looked totally uncoached and clueless week in week out.

We won a trophy playing utter crap football in a final, We finally won a trophy. Amazing, but anyone thinking we go again with him next season. Deep down, you know, it'll be exactly the same, a shit show, and we will waste the season.

I am hoping the terrible league form was him sacrificing it all for the Trophy.

You don't seriously believe that do you? That is Donald Trump-esque bullshitting from him. When Ange actually said that on Wedneday night I cringed. The guy is completely blagging it like he has all season. Results will pick up when injured players return, too many games, not enough games, every excuse under the sun.

I can't believe we have spurs fans actually buying the shit, that he threw the league for Europe and that explains all the abysmal results. Biggest load of bollocks I've ever heard. He's taking the fanbase for mugs.

it's Ange all over. He's a complete bullshitter. Fair fucks to him that he won a trophy for us, but if anyone seriously believes, Ange threw the league for Europe, it's nonsense. He's just saying that to make himself look good and like he had a plan.

At most he started focusing on Europe and forgot the league around April time, when we were in the Semi's. No way does that explain all the poor results from August to March.

That third season line from Ange was a really calculated attempt to try and make him unsackable to Levy and the board.

Thankfully I don't see Paratici falling for Ange's preplanned bullshit. And make no mistake, that line was preplanned.

We have two full years of data about what happens when Ange lines up against decent opponents

1 PPG

And that figure was buoyed by a fast start last year that never was duplicated

It will only take a couple of games of the same old shit for people to realize retaining him based on the vibes was a titanic mistake, but by that time it will be too late.

the squad won that, it was by far the best squad in the competition. mason would of 'won' if he was the one putting out the likes of VDV and romero...

Look, I agree with you to an extent. However he was the manager for our first major trophy for 17 years and first european trophy for over 40 years.

I think we had massive rub of the green to win it, but teams need that in cup runs. I want him gone and think he's a fucking blagger, but I won't knock him or take away the achievement.

What I will say, is his performances in the league show that he isn't a very good manager at all. No matter how we won the trophy, my opinion won't change on Ange, he's nowhere near good enough.

You’d have sacked him for a mid tablist who would have prioritized finishing top 8 over the Europa.

We wouldn’t be having the fucking time of our lives if the club did what you think is the smart thing to do.

Then you told us we’d lose to Frankfurt because they were half competent or some weak boy drivel like that.

Give it a rest, you were wrong.

Yeah only Ange could have achieved the miracle of beating AZ, Frankfurt or Bodo. Only him. Deluded fucking waffle.

You were wrong. We finished 17th. This manager is fucking shite and has been for a year and a half, one cup run doesn’t change shit and anyone on here with a functioning brain knows it. Only the thick as shit posters who I wouldn’t piss on if they were on fire continue to argue otherwise.

sometimes you kind of have to be open minded with these things. He won a trophy so he has leverage over Levy in sense and won't accept "potential' again. We bring in someone like Mckenna and he would simply accept what he's given.

I want us to sign experience proven players and the best bet doing that is either with Ange (who has said countless times now we have to bring in experience) and bring a proven winner in like Xavi or even Glasner who also wouldn't just accept what he's given. Forget Silva, forget Mcknenna (who I like), forget Frank (who I like), forget that Italian that just got sacked by Ajax.

Of all the realistic possibilities it would be:

1) Xavi
2) Glasner
3) Ange

If Ange stays it will be a fucking disaster.

But I am sure he will be gone. If you just watched that parade today you'd think there's no chance he goes.

But with the football operations revamp, and backroom changes, I'll be amazed and shocked if the club decide to go again with Ange. I can't imagine Paratici coming back, and giving Ange 1 point per game and 17th place, the greenlight to go again.

And if everything was going so well, why is Levy offering Paraticiy a shit load of money to return and make all the football decisions? and Paratici isn't coming back to be Levy's yes man.

There can be no sentiment in decisions like this.

Mmmmm, you think that's a premeditated move to force pressure on to Levy and the board? FMD...

You'd assume a decision has been made prior to that statement..

Some supporters lens on Ange is absolutely disingenuous and absolutely disgraceful in how they come to the conclusions they come to. It's like he's brought you the joy and he's still Judas.

fair play to him, he really does know how to get the simpletons on side.
200,000 on Tottenham High Road, 25,000 in Bilbao, 45,000 at the stadium on Wednesday. There’s a helluva lot of simpletons in that lot

I’m not saying you’re wrong to stick to your guns. But ppl like me got fed up with being so negative. I’ve got my Tottenham passion back - and I was genuinely worried I’d lost it forever - and if the club decide to keep him, I’m going to try and be comfortable with it.

Ange did

Bigger names before couldn’t

Keep fighting your fight. I’m sure it’s helping someone.
