This is turning into the most important point. You'd feel like the lot of them will revolt if he gets sacked.

Rightly or wrongly this trophy i think buys him another summer.

A lot of them need to be shipped out!

Everyone has agreed all year long that the squad isn't near good enough. Why should the opinions of players who everyone agrees are mostly below standard enter into it?

Those who belong at the CL level will play for who whomever is here bringing the possibility of more PL success and of CL football. Anyone who "revolts" can see the door.

Ok so after we won the cup I was all Ange in he deserves another chance.

But now the dust has settled, I hope Levy has the balls to sack him. He has that cup forever, but lets be honest. He's a crap manager and we cant have another league season like this year.

Mmmmm, you think that's a premeditated move to force pressure on to Levy and the board? FMD...

You'd assume a decision has been made prior to that statement..

Some supporters lens on Ange is absolutely disingenuous and absolutely disgraceful in how they come to the conclusions they come to. It's like he's brought you the joy and he's still Judas.

I honestly don't think a decision has been made to continue with Ange, it's too soon after Wednesday. If it has, it's purely emotional and we should all be really worried that our chairman is making such a huge decision like that when he's drunk or hungover on vibes and champagne and not thinking clearly.

Yes I do think that he is trying to make himself unsackable with that line.

The quotes about unfinished business, that line tonight, he's sending a message to Levy and the board that he wants to stay and deliver more. But he shouldn't get that chance.

Unfortunately I'm not falling for his bullshit and I hope the club don't either.

I can just imagine starting next season utter shit, and he'll start wheeling out the old excuses again, injuries, too many games, CL such a big step up, squad not big enough. He'll spin it, and some people on here will be falling over to excuse him yet again.

No, thanks. .This league season was enough for me, he needs to go. I can't accept what he delivered in the league, being absolutely battered by every team we came up against. One night in Bilbao doesn't change that for me. It just makes his departure be on better terms.

Unfortunately I am worried the club may make the wrong decision and we will suffer for it all next year, and all this goodwill and momentum will vanish.

This momentary wave of sentimentality will be our ruin

He’s 1.0 PPG as our manager.

Over two full seasons.

How can anyone see this and say “yes give me more of that”?
Even 1ppg will be enough to keep us up next season 😁
If Ange delivers more silverware in the shape of a league, FA cup or champions league hell even the super cup and good runs in the league and other cup competitions ill take it over your negativity all day long

I think the decision to sack him was pre-planned weeks ago. That's why we're hearing about the structural changes, including the removal of Scott Munn (an Australian, who brought Ange here, by the way) and the appointment of Fabio Paratici.

Sacking him now, though, would be very problematic in my opinion. Although it might be a rational decision, he's the one who gave us the best moment this club has had in about 40 years. Just look at the parade today — it was bouncing.

Football is all about emotion. Sacking the man who brought that emotion is causing division among the fanbase and also among the players. It would take a top hire, like Inzaghi, to get everyone on board again.

That's why Levy is in a tough spot now. If Paratici comes in, I think Ange is 100% gone. But if Levy suddenly goes with the vibes, rejects Paratici, and meddles with Vinai, it would show his incompetence and reactionary nature.

Ange knows this and is applying pressure with statements like that. He knows that suddenly, momentum is with him. The next few days will be interesting for sure.
Spot on. Ange knew what he was doing.

You simply cannot sack him now and expect the players to actually give 100% for the new manager.
If we have anyone under our roof who won’t give 100% for a new manager, they should be sent out.

Footballers are professionals and may disagree with board decisions, but when training begins they will be there and do their jobs for riches and glory and love for one another. Especially with CL football waiting for them.

Big decision ahead from the board to be made.

I am afraid we won't be ruthless enough to sack him even when - in my humble opinion - we still should do it. Same pattern was applied already in the past when it comes to not getting rid of some players (took to long with Dele, Eriksen, Lloris, Davies should not be there as well etc). We are too nice in this area compared to our opponents.

Watched whole parade and i am still watching video's of ceremony when we got a cup. I am enjoying every moment, because I expect now we will sacrifice next season completely by keeping Ange.

100%. The decision was taken weeks ago so I'll be shocked if they change their mind based on Wednesday.

It explains why Ange is saying what he is saying in public. Bit of a last attempt to influence the situation in his favour.

Sunday will be a celebatory atmosphere, and obviously the result won't matter, but it will bring people back down to earth with a bump if we lose. It will be a reminder that this is the club under Ange in the PL, constant defeats.

We have two full years of data about what happens when Ange lines up against decent opponents

1 PPG

And that figure was buoyed by a fast start last year that never was duplicated

It will only take a couple of games of the same old shit for people to realize retaining him based on the vibes was a titanic mistake, but by that time it will be too late.

lol you must be new to the forum.

A lot of them need to be shipped out!

Everyone has agreed all year long that the squad isn't near good enough.
Have we agreed on that all year long?

If the squad is so bad, maybe the manager who dragged them to a European trophy did a better job than the league results would indicate?

And I'm not just being snarky here, for me the most compelling case AGAINST Ange is that, and least when fit, he's got a pretty decent set of players to work with here, quite a bit better than what Jose and Conte had for most of their tenures.

Until he was on death's doorstep in the job and totally reversed two years of blathering on about all-out attack being what his late father would have wanted, he seemed pretty unable to convert good individual performers into team results on a stable, consistent basis.

Which is why I'd want answers on what the plan is going forward before I make any final decisions here. I know throwing the squad's hamstrings into a blender playing a suicidally high line every minute of every game is a bad idea. Is that still mandatory?

He knew exactly what he was doing.
He's trying to keep his job. Mystery solved.

It just doesn't work like that.

Come on man, the players finished 17th under Ange. Do you really think they think Ange is the only manager they can play under?

No rational person would ever disagree with you .

But :

Given the tidal-wave of emotion hitting this Club right now ; it would take the person who shot Bambi’s Mother to sack Ange now . Not impossible; but imagine the pressure the next poor sod would be under …

Incredible as it may seem: Ange has to stay ; to do otherwise would be a leap too far even for Danny Boy

Well, if you care about the PL. Then we SHOULD sack him.
Other managers already have him figured out. Unless he changes his whole philosophy, there is no way we can get top 4 next season with Ange.
Its funny
picture the scene

Levy calls Ange into his office for a meeting end of season.

Levy ( in pure former chairman Alan Sugar style)
" YOUR FIRED"

Big Ange responds to Levy
" WHAT For mate?
SO FOR WINNING A TROPHY
AND MAKING US CHAMPIONS IN A COMPETITION ( IN ELITE COMPETITIVE FOOTBALL)
I GET FIRED MATE,??????

I really think lines have been blurred

Pmsl no chance Ange gets sacked

No he doesn't have to stay. It's just a fairytale outcome that has no objective reasoning behind it. It's an outcome based purely on emotion.

I know what you are saying, but Ange isn't getting sacked tonight after the parade, it will happen when things die down in a week or two.

He will leave on mutual terms. It will be carefully worded. "The club have today made the decision to mutually part ways with Ange Postecoglu. He has our utmost thanks for delivering one of the most special nights in our history, however the board feel that the league campaign didn't come close to meeting expectations and the club has decided a change is needed to give us the best possible chance of success in the coming season"

The club needs CL football and we aren't getting it in the league through Ange. And there is no Europa League to win next season. It's either win the CL or finish top 4/5.
