I'll happy wager that we will be in the title race next season

I guess that depends on your personal definition of title race. For instance Ange’s first season plenty on here said we were in a title race. Were you in that crowd?

We finished 22 points off the champions that season……….

For me the title race is the last 8 games.
Until then you’re jostling for position.

And even then after 30 games you are second or third and 9 points off the leaders you’re more in a chase than a race. Within 3 points you’re in a race.

And I’d happily wager Ange won’t even be our manager by the time we get to the 30 game mark.

So put in writing your definition of title race contenders and then let’s set the terms of our wager young Harry.

There are other factors as well. After the ten games the injuries started to mount.

I also remember some of our players showcasing the worst of their coach-killer talents with missing goals my mother could tap in and others gifting goals her mother could save.

Yes, I agree that injuries were also a big factor but some of those injuries were incurred during our training sessions, and it kept on incurring until towards the end of this last season.

I just wonder why training methods couldn’t have changed to avoid / reduce the number of injuries incurred during training. I believe it’s because of his stubbornness and inflexibility. I also think that he isn’t a great coach at this level.

Well, in the 2nd leg we had to give a debut to Danso and Tel, who hadn't even trained with the squad yet.

Porro wasn't fit to start, so we had to play 18 year old Grey at right back; a position he had never played - next to a CB making his debut.

We were missing Solanke, and Richarlison was only fit enough for 45 mins.

Liverpool had an extra days reset before the game.

Bissouma forgot how to play football.
Starting XI: Kinsky, Gray, Danso, Davies, Spence, Bentancur, Bissouma, Sarr, Kulusevski, Richarlison, Son (c).

Same midfield as started final. Tel was on the bench as was Porro. Only 2 changes from previous game v Brentford where we won. Everyone was banging on about kulu at the time being great. Richi the saviour for our Europa league final games. Da so has done well since joining. So enough decent players there to at least keep it tight and push them back. We were timid and pathetic. Gawd knows he sent them out but I think this was long before he abandoned his principles completely.

No-one before in in FOUR decades was able to do what he did- so explain why they didn't they all stroll it in?

This is the weakest player roster since Poch left. Its worse than the squad Postecoglou took to fifth. Better teams- and as he said better-credentialled managers- failed.

His league form is abysmal, but no-one can take away his Europa Cup managers medal.
This is his squad he has spent nearly £400M. Got rid of players like PEH who he didn’t want, discarded Spence and sent on loan all our academy players except Moore. Who he has treated badly. All the while bringing in other youngsters same age as our own and giving them minutes. If the squad that got 5th was better than the one now how comes people say he came into a shit show in 23.

Agree you either back the guy properly or don't back him at all, all this 10 matches business is stupid, you're not committing to anything other than sentiment.

The problem is that backing for this board means that they do it half arsed...Ange's system thrives on having top players who can make a difference, go and get your Eze's and Mbuemo's if your serious and want Ange to succeed if you don't then we're gonna be talking about another wasted season.

Unfortunately I don't think the board pull their finger out for him because why would they, they haven't done it for anyone else hence why I'm more in favour of him leaving.

I dunno it's not an easy decision either way but the only way the board justify keeping him on is if they are going to go big in the TW, can't see it personally.
He didn’t want eze last summer he preferred players like Solanke and oddbert.

The really concerning thing is this started in the last third of the previous season. This isnt a dip in form, injuries or concentrating on the Europa, its systemic. 28 league defeats out of the last 49 games.

Why does anyone think this will improve? What happens, as is quite possible given the trajectory, we lose 3 or 4 of our first 5 games next season? He isnt getting 5 top class players this summer and even if we did manage that would you not rather see them under a good manager? You shouldnt have to buy world class talent to prop up your inadequate manager anyway.

As ever with these owners we need a manager that can improve individuals and get more out of the team than the sum of its parts and that certainly isnt Postecoglou.
100% Ange cannot coach a team to play good solid attacking football. It’s just throw your cards in the air and see what happens. How comes a 32 yr old rookie can get his Brighton team to play football we could only dream about. Whilst spending far less on players most of which we would shit on. His had one season only. I’d like our team to play like Brighton with our better players. Not too much to ask!

Not sure what you mean by just posting 17th? Like it's definitive evidence of being fraudulant?

- Noun.

'a person or thing intended to deceive others, typically by unjustifiably claiming or being credited with accomplishments or qualities.'

Did he categorically state that he has the skill set to never finish as low as 17th?

The only thing he ever claimed was that he ALWAYS wins a trophy in his 2nd season.....so unless you have evidence that during his interview with Levy he stated that he will never finish 17th, I think fraud is the wrong term.

Unsuitable, unacceptable, tactically naive are all terms I'd use to describe Ange's management of the club.....but he's never been fraudulant.

I don't think Ange is fraudulent. I just don't think he's good enough at this level. He may have won a cup but, anyone one on any given day can do that. He lucked out. 22 defeats cannot be ignored

I’m not sure you have ever watched a Royal Rumble Mrs P.

But to get you up to speed.

Arthur Rowe tries a surprise push-and-run on Venables—but Harry sees it coming and tips Rowe over the ropes! (Elimination #12: Arthur Rowe)

(Clearly Venables and Redknapp have formed a tag team. The WideBoys.)
and

Keith Burkinshaw—He’s grappling with Ange Postecoglou near the ropes. Ange, fired up after eliminating George Graham earlier, channels that aggression and uses a running big boot to send Keith over the top rope! (Elimination #13: Keith Burkinshaw)

Harsh on the two legends but according to Mr Chat this is what would happen. Or possibly has happened in an alternate universe.

I completely agree with you there. I'm not excited about next season. If we'd finished 5th again, and won the cup, and invested, I think there would be real excitement about what we could do next season.
However I just can't see it under Ange.

New manager bounce as well as opposing coaches and players weren’t used to Angeball yet.

Once his tactics had been sussed out (after the first 10 games), results and performances have been, generally poor.
I don't understand why it would take 10 matches to be found out. Are PL managers completely idiots?
I don't buy this narrative. Better look for other reasons.
