The final was a pile of shit and both teams were bad, but I did think we look comfortable the majority of the game and the boys looked confident. The entire gameplan was to shithouse, play ugly, nick a goal and defend - there was no chance of a game of football breaking out. We got lucky with our goal but other than the Vic fuckup United never looked like scoring.

I slag off Ange a fair amount on here, but I do genuinely believe he had the team pumped up for the game and I've weirdly never felt more confident about Spurs winning a final. That's one thing Ange does have experience over compared to better managers we've had like Poch - he has won cups and titles which is handy going in to one-off games like that, regardless of how bad the opposition are.
Tbh after epl season there was a 3 week gap till the cl final. That plus kanes injury and it was 37 degrees over there. Tbh they should have brought forward the cl final by a week. Logistically it was viable.

Crazy its been this bad under Frank and we're still 3 points up on where Ange was at this stage last year. Frank would have to get 10 points or less in the next 18 games to have had a worse domestic season.
But lower in the league than what Ange had I believe? You just know Ange would be getting better performances out of Xavi / Muani.

At this point it's clear Ange was a great coach for coaching attacking play. All those whipped crosses / far post tap-ins weren't an accident.

Think that VdV interview about him believing in his system still, and Romero comment when he was sacked as very telling.
They very much liked him, the sacking was probably right but the next appointment had to be spot on to win them over

Going for a dull spreadsheet manager was such a bad mistake
