Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Which party wanted the 18 month term though, and why? Didn’t Conte say it was us?

It doesn’t make a ton of sense

Isn’t it something like Poch, Mourinho, Nuno and Conte all have contracts to manage Spurs to 30 June 2023?

And don’t we have an option of a 12 month extension at any time so effectively it’s 2.5 years? I’m sure that’s been mentioned. He’s not going to leave now anyway, it’s just the bed wetters bed wetting.

Meh.

That Chav squad just WON the CL & is considered a title challeneger. We're battling with Arse, WH & Utd. for top 4; not Chelsea.
You still have to be very good to get into the top 4 over the course of a season. I don’t know what people have seen based on us this season to think we can finish 4th.

Not going to happen. The sooner people accept that the less painful it will be

Which one of the other 4 would you describe as having been "very good then"?

I'd say WH have been the steadiest of the lot, but they're far from a lock-in.

Nah; thanks for the concern, but I'll keep hoping...... The kind of "pain" you speak of is just the life of a footy fan..... I'll cope.

At this point I'm assuming that he is here for the remainder of his contract. With such a big job to do I question why only an 18 month deal has been agreed because with a world Cup squeezed in next season I think it should of been a minimum of 3 years.

Well, as another post has reminded me; there's actually an extension option on his contract. He seemed pretty at ease with the contract length/terms when he was hired..... (Same length as Tuchel at Chavski incidentally)

Are you honestly telling me that you'd be thoroughly calm at this very moment is he was on a 5 year deal?

Like I said, if he's happy he'll stay; if he's not he'll walk regardless... Don't stress yourself unnecessarily, mate.

Probably a coincidence... .You think there's some kind of Armageddon theory? (joke)

Let’s see. He always likes to put pressure on his chairmen in press conferences at every club he’s been at. I wouldn’t read anything into it.

Weird thing brewing here......

When he arrived it was all "Hahaha.... He'll kick Levy's ass and won't be scared to call him out".....

Now; the slightest hint of him politicking (or as I like to call it; 'doing a rafa') and peeps are getting super edgy.

The only reason I think we have a decent chance of finishing 4th is that after the top 3 clubs (City, Chelski, and Liverpool) the next tier of clubs is rather poor. The squad we had the last time we finished 4th would have no issues making top 4, maybe even top 3.

If he had more than an 18 month contract I'd agree. The fact is his contract only runs until the end of next season so realistically what he needs to do he needs to start this window. Big ask for him to do it all this summer. And remember there is a world Cup sandwiched in next season.
If we were able to get the right players in this window, it makes a push for top 4 viable rather than winging it with what we’ve got and then trying to integrate new personnel over the summer, knowing how Levy loves to leave it late.
I honestly think now is the time to get new faces in that Conte wants so he’s not feeling increasingly like it’s a lost cause before we even get to the summer.
January is difficult to get top quality in, but other teams seem to manage it when they have identified weak areas in the squad. It just requires some hard work, done efficiently, & not quibbling over minor details for days on end. I’m not suggesting we should let teams or agents pull our pants down, but there has to be great value out there, even in January.
Players coming to the end of their contracts…pay a fee rather than hope you’ll get them for free in the summer when the CL boat may very well have sailed

West Ham.

Woolwich have looked pretty good (hate to say it) and Utd are performing way below what they should be with the team they've got.

Have you actually watched us this season? At no point have we looked a team capable of putting the sort of run together to actually challenge for 4th.. I remember the seasons we finished in those spots and we were actually a good side.

Half of this team can barely trap a ball mate.

Even IF we got close near the end of the season, are you seriously telling that THIS group of players would be able to get us over the line in a pressure situation!?

Come on!

See last post.

Arse have been dreadful at times this season.... And the only big game they've won is against us at our Nuno worst.

Yes they look improved..... But popular outside opinion is that we look better too as results (and numerous stats; XG, goals scored, goals conceeded... The important stuff.) reflect this.

Under Conte: 8 games / 18 points from 24 & unbeaten.

Crunch games coming up, but we're on a run right now.

I'm not "telling you" anything other than we have a chance... That's it's possible. That's not an outrageous statement on my part.

20 games to go mate.

Truths will be told about both teams on Sunday
