Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The fact is that you don't know what was or wasn't said. Nobody does.

If he didn't ask about our transfer policy before he signed, he's a fool.
If he signed anyway, then he can't complain.

He never said he was lied to, only that he realises now our transfer policy.
Its not necessary to know the truth or understand what you are talking about when condemning Spurs players, managers or managerial level employees

you just need an agenda and a reasonable level of accumulated invective

Yeah, Davies started so well under Conte, now he's the old Davies againg. If he kept the form I would be almost confortable with Romero, Dier and Davies at the back.
Rom can't deal with high balls. Ben can't play under pressure. Dier's always had a brain fart in him. That's hardly comfy.

Personally, I wish we weren't obligated to sign Rom, especially for 42 mil. I'd rather spend that on someone else & better.

Davies as a backup to play garbage mins in the PL and Cup games, I'm fine with that.

Dier was hated by loads on here not that long ago for being bang average on the pitch and having an oversized ego off it...but now he's a fan fave cause those around him are shite 🤔 If we wanna win titles, you don't start Dier, unless you got two monsters with him, so not Rom & Dav.

Nail of the fucking head......................

I'll chuck this piece in here as well, as it relates...............

It's exhausting!! There are posters in here that NEVER post in any thread about the football, their posts are exclusively about spending money, the board, everything apart from the football. Odd no?

"The match is secondary to everything else"

A-fucking-men.

......Even during the damn match!

You are living in a dream world. A reserve Juventus player and an academy player cannot compete with Kante, De Bruyne, Pogba, Thiago etc. We need at least one midfield player who is elite level if we want to compete seriously for top 4.

The only times we challenged for 4th were when we had either Modric or Dembele in the first XI. We might be able to do without if we can find two world class wing backs but that’s even less likely.

Whilst your point about levels is valid: whether or not Skipp comes from the academy or not (every club wants Rice atm..... Every player comes from an academy..... Harry Kane?) or B'cur falling out of favour at Juve (KDB & Salah were Chav "rejects" once) is irrelevant .

Levy has completely fucked this up since Pochettino.

He shoulders all the responsibility as he clearly has no direction for this club.

Only we could so monumentally fuck up an appointment like Conte.

Likely Kane will be off at a discount in the summer aswell

......Why would we sell Kane at a "discount"?

If Conte is genuinely ready to leave after 2/3 months then it speaks badly of all parties (board, manager and players).

To be honest I'm already getting sick and tired of Conte. He might well have valid reasons for being dissapointing with certain aspects of the club, but at the end of the day he should be showing better professionalism to the club that pays him his massive salary.

He can certainly help himself by not playing the same fucking wing-back formation game after game. Teams know exactly what we're going to do. And with that formation you're relient on having very good wing-backs, something which we clearly don't.

If he wants to keep whining and moaning, and feeling sorry for himself, fuck off already.
He should absolutely not change his system. Poch didn't do that when he took over, Klopp didn't do it when he took over Liverpool and Pep didn't do it when he took over City. Contes system is one of the best in world football, it's the players fault for being lazy and abject time and time again. If I'm sick of anyone it's them. They couldn't be bothered at the end of Pochs time, couldn't be bothered under Mourinho, Nuno and now Conte.

Really look at our squad and tell me how many of our players would start for a Wolves or even Southampton?

also because most of them have little or no football acumen to articulate.

Reguilón: Won a Europa League with Sevilla, making the UEFA EL squad of the season, and was consensus top 5 LB in La Liga. Sessegnon/Davies back-up.

Romero: Argentina won their first trophy in nearly 20 years last summer with Romero as a CB in a back 4.
Sanchez back-up.

Dier: Is our best LCB.
Rodon back-up.

Tanganga/Royal: We're 7-0-3 when Tanganga starts this season... most with Nuno in a back 4. Royal is a RB and has been used as such for Real Betis and the Brazilian NT. He is totally not a Barcelona-style player (whatever that may be) but he's young (the same age as Tanganga), was also a consensus top 5 RB his 2 seasons at Betis, and continues to be called into Brasil... though he wasn't in the first 11 for the Copa America final -- he came on as a sub in the 76th, down 0-1 for Lodi (the LB).
I see what you're doing, pal, but with all due respect, it doesn't matter how good it looks on paper and what they achieved elsewhere in the past, it's all about how they do at Spurs.

Reguilon really hasn't justified the big investment, he's been mostly average. Sess has been a flop and Davies ain't ageing well.

Loads are all wet when talking about Romero, but I really don't see what the fuss is about. Aside from the early attitude problems and injury troubles, how many goals have we conceded because of his ineptitude at dealing with high balls? He's not a 42 mil player. Period. And Sanchez? My oh my, where do I even start?!

Dier is a good player, but he's never been and likely never will be any more than that. He sure ain't elite...he's miles away from that. He's looking a lot better these days, but that's also (mainly?) because the players around him are garbage. Rodon, we just don't know what we've got cause he never plays.

Japh is a decent young player, but he's still very raw and has cost us a fair few goals already. But I'm fine to give him time. He won't turn into a Ledley, but could still become a solid contributor. Royal, on the other end, is a major bust. Yes, he did well at Betis, but La Liga is a lot easier than the PL. If he was that good, Barca would've found a way to keep him despite their financial troubles...but no, they preferred to keep always-injured Umtiti, error-prone Lenglet, and very average Mingueza. You didn't even mention Matt Doherty, but then again...

Just because that formation worked for him before means nothing. He had the players to get the most out of that system. He had better wing-backs. I ca understand the need to play a back three and not a back two as it helps to mask the averageness of players like Davies, Sanchez and Dier to an extent. But we're so relient on players like Reguilon, Emerson, Sessegnon and Doherty game after game. And some wonder why we barely create chances in many games.

I'm with you, pal.

Rod is good, has decent pedigree from his time at Juve (where he wasn't a reserve, though) and with Uruguay, and he's still young enough to develop into a very good player...but as of now, he's nowhere near KDB, Gundo, Fabinho, Kante & co.

I really like Skippy, he had a brilliant loan at Norwich and he's been good this season whenever he's played. That said, many fans need to calm the eff down talking about him as if he's been around for years and playing like Iniesta. He's only a 21yo kid with 30 odd PL games under his belt...0 goal, 0 assist. Is he an exciting prospect? Sure. But are some putting way too much pressure on his shoulders? Fuck yeah.

But mainly, it comes down to the fact that neither of them is a creator, that MF able to take the ball from our defense to run at the opposing team's, splitting their tight rearguard with clever passes. It's just not how them two play. Hence the major need for a Modric/Eriksen-type MF maestro.

Apparently agreed to stay till the end off season. Going to walk away then. He don't want to walk now as it will make future jobs look bad for him. That's why he was urging the club to sack him Wednesday night

Am I allowed to criticise him without being considered racist towards Italians yet? The decision to set up and play the same way here as we did at city cost us tonight. Does not have the players here to be so tactically rigid. Piss poor set up against a fantastic defensively side that'd extremely well organised.
Criticizing your coach is legitimate. And I say it as an Italian 😉

Bentancur at Juventus was not a reserve: we had (and do have) a problem of uncovered or overly covered roles but he was not the problem. Our cross were Ramsey and Rabiot. Benta left because he had a much lower salary than Rabiot (€ 7 million a year) and therefore with more market.

Wonder what mood our manager is in today.

We know it will be different by 14:30 tomorrow that's for sure.
And now problems are kicking in.

Our manager is becoming a sideshow, regardless who he is and what he's done. I don't want someone whose words and actions are of far more note than the squad and the results.

Tomorrow's game isn't about whetherwe win, lose or draw. It's about, "What way will Conte react"

He also wants to prove he can be successful with a club who have neither a big transfer budget or heritage as one of their country’s most successful sides.
That paragraph right there. No he doesn't. He wants the budget that the top clubs have.

I mean if he wants to show he's a wonderful developer of mediocre talent he'd be in Heaven right now.

Mate, 100 fcuking per cent.

Many will disagree with me but if this carries on until the end of the season we should get rid.

Top manager but too bloody volatile and for me, playing to the media.

He should rein in his expectation, stop with any hyperbole and add more value than he has in totality.

He is beginning to sound like he is making excuses in my book, which aren't necessary.

Add a top class RWB & CM to our first XI and it is elevated significantly.

Add a top class LCB too and we're cooking.

XXX / Rom / Dier / XXX / Reg
B'cur / XXX(*) / Skipp
Kane / Son

(*Can Kulu be evolved into that guy? That would be awesome.....)

Oh yeah I agree with you, pal. He wasn't reserve, that's why I was correcting the guy I was replying to.

I've more of a soft spot for AC Milan, but I wish Juve had sacked Rabiot as opposed to Bentancur. And I'm not saying that because I wanted that French twat at Spurs! No way, I can't stand him and his mom.
