Central midfield is the most important position on the pitch. For some reason, spurs think you can just throw 2 sideways passing nothing players in there and as long as they don’t fuck up, they did their job.

Obviously, Skipp was making a huge difference. Nothing will change until we get good midfielders.

United have the same problem controlling games consistently with Fred and Mctominay. It doesn’t matter if you have talented forward players if the midfielders can’t get them the ball in favorable positions.

I blame Dembele for carrying midfield by himself for years and making it seem like players like Winks are semi competent.
Thank you. Nailed it. Dembele gave anyone he played with such an easy life. We have the worse midfield I have seen as a fan since the mid 90's. I'm going to keep saying this till people get it. Kulusevski like Bergwijn is an attacking forward so I'm leaving them out.

Winks Hojbjerg Skipp Bentancur Locelso N'dombele. This is our problem and it's fucking huge. The only elite attacking midfield player in this lot is a fat disinterested French kid who hates England. Of the others Skipp and Bentancur still both learning the league have a future the others actively hamper our attempts to play attacking football or keep the ball. People need to wake up its this simple.

Let's be honest. The one looking bad in all of this is Conte.

The club has bent over backwards for him by all accounts since he came in. We sacked off 3 of our highest earners in January just because he didn't want to use them and brought in two players that by all accounts and his own words he wanted in.

He came in mid season and was informed upon taking the job that we could not do major business in January. He knew that when he signed. If he wants out after 4 months and a string of bad form then that reflects more on him than it does on Spurs.

This is not in defence of Levy or the board. Its just pointing out the truth of the matter.

Ok - let's see who ends up with a top job after they leave us, and which club ends up in another painful managerial search, being rejected by the majority of coaches who won't want to touch us with a ten foot bargepole after yet another failed appointment.

Then we'll see who looks bad in all of this, shall we?

Pogba has looked bad throughout his 2nd United tenure.... Tevez looked bad when he refused to play for Mancini..... Ballotelli looked bad throughout his entire career.... Jose looked bad at Utd & Spurs at certain times...... But people still hired or will re-hire them because they take a punt on their talent as it is a rare commodity..... That's just the market.

That doesn't mean they didn't look bad to begin with.

I don't think so. Conte had specific, achievable requests for January that the club didn't deliver on. Failure to land Adama must be a particular frustration, given how weak we are at RWB, and how reliant his system is on quality in this position. His frustration and comments suggest the club messed up on this deal and could have wrapped it up (if they paid up) before Barca came in for him.

He is speaking his mind. He has the credentials to say what it takes to build a winning team. Spurs has a world class stadium, training centre, but not a world class squad. And the policy to recruit talented, but relatively unproven young players has delivered no silverware. A more balanced approach, with some 'ready' acquisitions is what's needed. We need to see that intent to build a winning team. If we don't, why would the best players or managers want to come?

Conte has not changed. The club surely knew how demanding he can be when they got him. And if he goes, it will be a signal that Levy, for all the talk, is unwilling to change his player recruitment philosophy and aim for the top. If Conte goes, Kane goes of course, and we're then looking at rebuilding from a very weak base.

Because what he has done in the past. But emotionally he is a man baby. He will take us places if given ready made tools. Levy DONT DO THAT. He is a bad match consequently and always was this ends I tears probably before preseason
Please.

Even thinktank thinktank could win the PL with peak-Putin/Abramovich-era dirty £££.

Most of our own fanbase think Spurs look worse than Conte do. If I go around the football world I see most people saying 'Spurs broke Conte!' rather than blaming him. The narrative will be that WE once again failed with a managerial appointment, that WE didn't give him what he was wanting when he joined us.

Make no mistake, if he does end up walking (I still think he sees out his contract, but let's find out) then I suspect afterwards he will talk even more openly about why, and what is wrong with this club. This will look worse on us than him.

There is genuinely no reason for any of us to tune in to and listen to his post-match press conferences, best leave that to our rivals to speculate over.

I will be sipping a cuppa tea or coffee or taking the dog for a walk, anything to avoid the inevitable instant hot takes, it's all a load of BOLLOCKS.

TBH. If Conte just gets super emotional after losses then he is tailor made for this fanbase. We are the same.

And I perfectly understand getting emotional after a loss. I try to regulate my own anger after losses by focusing on other hobbies.

Agree, and particularly galling as Spurs history is full of great midfielders, having possession of the ball etc. We need better midfielders not just to improve the team, but to reclaim the playing style that got many of us into Spurs in the first place.

Addendum: If this was after a full summer window then it would be a completely different scenario. But he knew the circumstances when he took the job mid season so throwing his toys out of the pram after a couple of games does not reflect well on what is supposed to be one of the best coaches in the world.
Shut up Patrik.

No way will we get Carlo but I don't want him, he'll just walk out when he gets a better job offer like he did Everton.
Oh yeah I'm with you, man. I have bags of respect for what Carlo's achieved in his stellar career, but I don't want him here.

It's just 'fun' to imagine what could happen in that mad game of musical chairs.

You could just as easily have:

- Poch to Utd
- Jose to PSG
- Allegri to Roma
- Carlo to Juve
- Conte to Real
- Bassett to Spurs

He's gone imv

‘I’VE HEARD FROM HIM’: ITALIAN DROPS CONTE BOMBSHELL THAT’LL SCARE SPURS FANS

He told TMW Radio: “He’s thinking of leaving. He would like to stay at home, let’s say. It takes time, and maybe he realised that there’s a margin beyond which he can’t go with certain players. He made a wrong assessment. I’ve heard from him; he’s disappointed with a situation he expected to be different.”

You're right, we do need better midfielders, hell we need better players all over the pitch, but I truly believe that Conte's anger and frustration the other night came from the attitude of the players vs Burnley rather than their ability.
