You tell em ChampGerrard has Villa running riot against the same Southampton squad which outwitted Conte. Really a total indictment in the end. If you’re being honest, you’d swap Conte for Gerrard in a heartbeat.

Yep it was. I guess my point was more about listening to your manager and getting proper class in to solve their problems. The first position we clearly needs improving on in Jan was RWB. They should have proper gone for it and filled that role with calibre. But that was from sale of courtinhio? I think their net spend isn’t much different to our in last 5?years. Add in they have earned more prize money than us so can afford to spend a bit more.
You really think our biggest problem is RWB?Yep it was. I guess my point was more about listening to your manager and getting proper class in to solve their problems. Thing is I think we could break teams down if we stopped persisting with the 343 with non creative Cms. There are some creative players in the squad they just need utilising better. He's playing with the hand he was dealt. We can't break stubborn teams down.
There's a reason we got many, many chances against Liverpool, City and Leeds, they don't defend in numbers.
I agree with you! But didn’t Conte say first priority is RWB? My point is that if the manager has identified this for the way they want to play, then that should be the priority recruit, like Klopp did with goalie and CB.You really think our biggest problem is RWB?
You've not seen our midfield duo of Hoinks and Winkberg completely bypassed by football heavyweights such as Burnley and Boro?
Sure, RWB is a weak area, one where we're not really getting much attacking benefit from. But we have attackers to cover that. We don't have anyone fit to cast Hoinks and Winkberg out of the starting 11 at the moment.
Can Moura (or Berg) be any worse than CP3O or the tinman? He's kind of stuffed though. Because unless he used Moura as RWB and teaches him when and how to defend, we have no one to play on the right. Until Skipp and Bentancur are fully fit, we're going to have to suffer 1 or both of the Hoinks axis. Until we get creative mids, we're going to have to rely solely on the front line to create and score our goals. Until we sign 1 or 2 top CB's, we're going to have you suffer any of Dier, Davies or Sanchez. And tbh, I'm not even convinced by Romero yet.
I think Conte has fully underestimated how bad our squad is. Probably because Spurs pushed his Chelsea so hard.
Agree with this. Rice, Bissouma and James would see us challenge for the PL (with some luck re: injuries).I agree with you! But didn’t Conte say first priority is RWB? My top choice would be to get a CM who can create, be that a box to box type, or someone who can have freedom to create while Skipp plays destroyer. In see that as more important but clearly Conte doesn’t.
I think a lot of us would agree that we could probably do with 5-7 new first teamers as there is so much shit in the squad, but I would rather the board get 1-2 proper high calibre signings and spunk more budget than 5-7 middling players

Skipp and Benta have potential but yes, very weakI don't think we have one weakest area.
MF, RWB and CB are all major problems. Fixing one of them doesn't do much because the others areas are so poor and will hold us back.

Our back 3 is ok, it’s the ridiculous Sanchez that’s a major problem and the imposter has been found out now
RWB is pure comedy

Possibly but too early to say on either. They might drift into Championship mediocrity like Wankberg, or they might kick on and really shine (talking Skipp/Benta). Give them timeI think that if we want to be at the level of City, Chelsea, Liverpool or close to it we can only have one of Skipp or Bentancur starting. If United continue to hire incompetent managers (doubtful) I think that Skipp-Bentancur would be good enough to get us 4h-6th.
Davies and Dier are not close to good enough for top 4. Both need to be replaced. Romero has great talent but looks like he could use an experienced player next to him to help with his development and fit with how Romero plays.

Dier has been good this season and decent in the past. He’s also been shit in the past so I suspect that’s down to illness/injury. He’s definitely good enough for top 4.
Royal, Sanchez, Doherty, Wankberg. These 5 are the stranglers that will kill all form and block us finishing in the top 5. Happy to have a fight with you re: Dier and Davies
I just don’t see that take on Dier. Odd mistake but he looks strong and passing the ball well. I don’t know enough about those 3 to say they have five better cb’s but he would start for Utd, West Ham and definitely be 3rd choice (at least) at GoonsDier has been vastly overrated this season. He misses a few games and people create a BS narrative that we need him in defense to do some yelling and blaming everyone around but when he plays we see how shit he is. He is not anywhere close to top 4 level. City, Liverpool, Chelsea all have 5 CB's better than him in their squad.
RWB and Midfield both need massive upgrades, if we only fix 1 it will mean we still struggle.

Agree on RWB and CM but it’s so awful it’s impossible not to improve both.
