Quoting my own post from few weeks ago.

I don’t care if we beat Marseille, this football is so tedious. Conte needs to realise we are Spurs, not Chelsea. This is a Champions League night in London, not Italy.

That is just pathetic BS. OM had an oap pensioner in CM with a bunch other rejects. The first was the worst I think this season. The performances are getting worse. So much to write about here. We are home midweek CL with bumper ticket prices people like me won’t get home till 2A’M. Where was the passion? We didn’t look scoring all gane even with them down to 10. The worst things were he takes off royal and puts kulu rwb not changing the formation., dier again the worst CD on yellow plays all game and to top it all we need a goal and what dues he do brings on davies and jasphet followed by Doh! We only bcos of 2 crosses that Ricoh out away. Ffs we almost let them get a goal at the death. They had the lions share of poccesion as well. Oh and if potter at Brighton can get them playing good attractive football on a budget then why can’t we expect at least a little bit of that from a so called super manager? The players don’t even look as if they are coached as we had literally had no idea of how to break them down. Passing was sloppy and there was no effort. Take the win but by god that was shocking again. I said a few weeks back these slow first half’s are planned and we waste time as well. Check lloris with goal kicks. We were screaming at him to get a move on. No point boing the oppo when we do the same.
 
It’s clear to me that they don’t set out to give up so much possession, but rather Conte’s given them a defensive foundation to rely on when the passing/ball control fails the players.

An extra body in midfield might help, but the bottom line is that the players need to be better on the ball. If they have that, they’ll start having more comprehensive performances. In the meantime, we’ll have the defensive shape to grind out results.

think he got it wrong tonight which made it hard work, got the result in the end but still. just hope this persevering with son doesnt start to affect the other players in the side because it could spread if he isnt careful.

props to conte tho for changing the culture in the dressing room in his short time. got rid of the soft kids, and muppets who are robbing a living in the winks, dele, ndombele and gios of the world! and replaced them with men who come to win and are prepared to go deep into the trenches to get results for the club and earn their dough!

the characters we have in the first 11 now are so different to the soft little pansies we had a couple years ago, and its shown in the results! while not even being at our best we are still undefeated and you dont fear for us like you did a couple years ago when we had the soft pansies right through the core of the side! onwards and upwards in this new era!

When we're out of possession and we've set up into our 5-4-1 defensive block, Conte's perfectly content to keep shape to let us catch our breath. As long as the ball is in front of us obviously.

Makes sense as the counterattack has been a particular strength of ours circa Kane + Son.

You can win the ball against us with a high press but you're often up against 7 with no space behind. If you miss with the high press or get tired from implementing it, we'll get in behind and make big chances for our very strong attackers. Son playing like Rasiak ain't helping, mind.

Conte got what wrong?

You can be as down on Son as you like; but it doesn't explain nor justify the flaws in the performance last night.
