The other problem is let’s say Conte leaves, who do we get. The obvious replacements Ten Hag and Potter are no longer available. I love attacking football but we would need to buy and sell to refit the squad for a new manager with a different philosophy.
Now that we are on a path with Conte we need to see it through and properly back him, the alternative seems worse to me. I don’t disagree that Conte might have got some things wrong but he is still an elite manager in his prime, that is not easy to replace.
Also, who really wants another potential long and tedious drawn out manager search like summer last year? I’m still traumatised from that!
After having loads of upheaval in personnel in the last few years, we need some stability for a while, unless things go really pear shaped.
