Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The one thing I would say is that I knew we’d struggle as soon as it was announce kulusevski was out. We’ve seen the impact him and bentancur have had to the side. How many times have they played together this season? 3 or 4?

There was zero options on the bench and he’s having to play son whose legs have gone. His replacement is also injured.

Today was fucking terrible, I wanted to go home 15 minutes in I was so bored. But I think there was mitigating circumstances. Conte is losing me because of his stubborn 343 formation which just doesn’t work.
You’re certainly right about Kulu and Bentancur , can you imagine the mess we would be in now if we hadn’t have got that pair in last winter ! Doesn’t bear thinking about

Very difficult to add to whats been posted over quite a while now but this project Conti looks done to say a overhaul is needed is a massive understatement and as we all know will not happen under Levy .Only we could get a manager pay him a huge wage who everyone knows has one way of playing but of course fail to get the quality that was required .Difficult to know where we go from here as we would need a manager for five or six years and get the backing that would be required .Gutted for all the fans that pay good money to see this shambles and then have to listen to all the guff from all sides after .

One could say if you spend £400M there's no need to hire an "elite" manager like Conte. No club he's been at, mind you, has ever spent a sum like that. But if you were to spend £400M, you might as well hire someone like Howe or Potter because you're just trying to out-talent the rest of the league.

Possibly but an elite manager is not the same as a good manager. Certain managers like Pep as an example only work with elite players, in this respect they are limited. It’s controversial but if Eddie Howe wins the league with Newcastle I would say he is a more all round better manager than Pep as he has shown more capability to work with different situations to get success. Pep even took Bayern backwards compared to his predecessor. Pep is great but only great in a very specific environment.

Elite managers are those who have a record with elite players in combination winning elite prizes of which Conte is one. He has no record of winning with a team like us. I think levy gets a hard-on with big names. £400m thrown at Conte is less of a gamble than other managers but £200m or less thrown at Conte with a squad like ours that needs big fixes is also a gamble. For someone like City getting Pep makes sense, for someone like us it doesn’t and it’s the same with Conte.

Complete lack of leadership at this clubb from top to bottom.

Conte contract should have been signed by now. Now it's a unnecessary distraction

Owners making shit appointments or good managers for wrong reasons.

No leadership from players(although coming back as much as they have shows some great character or willingness). But more to to do with Lloris throwing them in or individuals going completely missing for games on end.

What really does me in though is... The really basic errors and shit easy passes. Some 30-40yard passes by professionals were horrendous. This needs to be put to bed.

And Contes comments about 5th 6th and 7th is bollocks. We have a better squad than Woolwich, Utd and Newcastle and they are all bove us right now

TBF, Conte hasn't won *elite* prizes. Winning Serie A with Inter is by far his crowning achievement. Just about everyone who's managed at Chelsea with Roman's chequebook won a PL title. His Serie A titles with Juve were basically equivalent to winning the Bundesliga with Bayern.
I think his time at Spurs is exposing him more than anything else. Spurs don't (and can't) spend what the top PL teams do. So we need a good coach that can maximize what he does have, keep the squad focused so we don't drop points to teams we have no business losing do, and is willing to shape his tactics against the top clubs to give us the best chance of taking points.

We need head coach Poch (and not manager Poch). Someone whose ego and "system" hasn't ruined their ability to coach football. Which is why Potter was always the candidate we should have hired.

The worst thing that could come of this would be Paratici leaving, honestly. I'm not fussed in Conte walks, I don't think he'd get the job done even if we spent £200M, honestly. It's an impossible task at Spurs, winning the league, for someone who just wants to buy it. We need a manager that will work for it, and get the squad to work for it.

Exactly but you hire Conte you spend 300-400m, you get Skrinair, you get Gardivol, you get Dumfries, you get elite players who suit his system and overpay if needed to fight for the title. As others on the forum have said we didn’t have to go that route Ten Hag and Potter where available and we could have gone a different way.
Elite players want to join trophy winning clubs. The club will never get a free run at elite players, there will always be another club or two who are proven winners and pay amazing salaries.

1 League cup in over 20 years is not much of a pull.

What a squad that was and one of the best times to be a Spurs fan in my life. If we were a big club we'd have taken that opportunity and pushed on.

We didn't and now we are stuck "in the process". Are we ever getting back to that level under Enic and Levy?

Of course we can get back to that..... I just don't think Conte is the right man.

If we're going to lose 0-2 at home, i want a team that at least busts a gut and plays with style and flair. Sick of seeing us start an attack then whoever has the ball slows down, spins and plays the ball backwards or sideways.

Our fans clamour and blind, deluded support for this ex Chelsea manager has hampered us. It’s been cringeworthy seeing some of you fawn over a man who refuses to change from his dinosaur 3/5 at the back system.

Football moves quickly and we/Conte are stuck in the past.

Ask yourselves this - would Liverpool, Man City, even Woolwich consider Mourinho, Nuno and Conte as their managers? Of course they wouldn’t. These dinosaur managers have been left behind by progressive, forward thinking young managers.

Conte won’t make it to May but I’ve always said this.

Go on, downvote me. But you know it’s true now.

He did well last season. Got them fit and eventually we found some form. But it was helped by Woolwich choking, we didnt have many injuries and were out of Europe and then the FA cup fairly quickly so it was 1 game a week from mid February. But agree, the age of these big ego 'born winner' type coaches has come to an end. We are about 8 to 10 years behind in our thinking. It just patches over issues in the short term.
