Was there no money or was it the players he wanted either didn't want to move or their clubs didn't want to sell? Its all guesswork from the different rumours that fly around so we will never know for sure.There was no money to buy a centre back so he had to get Lenglet on loan.
The interview on Sky Sports that Conte has done, is actually a realistic view of where we are at as a club. I feel he is trying to push ENIC into making big changes, I hope it works as I don't feel sacking Conte is the correct way to go. We'll just be going round in circles forever otherwise.

If that is the case then why is he not signing a new contract to show his committment also. I find it hard to believe when he says a long term project to adjust the club but he is only here short term.

Hmm I don't know if I'm being "led" anywhere- I've been calling for Levy/ENIC out for at least a year now, and my post history has been extremely critical of them for several years now.
If you check my post history you would see I've called most of the squad/manager meltdowns 6mo to a year before they happen.
I'm being generous to Conte in saying he's not a good fit for us. Levy and ENIC pick the coach and sign the checks. But since Levy and ENIC are unlikely to sell, yes, I believe that the best course of business is for Conte to be sacked.
Villa may well overtake us in the next couple windows. They will almost certainly invest more into their team. Over the last 10 years they have a bigger net spend
I don’t want him as our manager anymore. I don’t even care if he does manage to get a team playing the way he wants. His style of football is shit. He never has a plan B. His selections are poor.
He’s won a lot, great. Chuffed for him. But I watch football to escape from my normal life for a couple hours a week. Within those two hours I’d like to be entertained slightly. Instead, I’m subjected to the most most fucking dogshit, negative, backwards, boring shitfest of football imaginable.
If he can’t get more out of this squad then simply put; he’s not as good a manager as he thinks. Yes, there are stinkers in that squad but for fuck’s sake. We should still be beating Villa with the players we have. He has to accept responsibility for being unable to get the most out of the players available to him.

He even made a statement saying that he wants us playing fast-paced, attacking football that the club is known for (or something along those lines). He then signs a defensive minded manager, again. So I have absolutely no faith in Levy to get it right this time either. Might as well have Gareth Fucking Southgate as manager to completely kill off our love for the club.

Agree. One doesnt exclude the other. ENIC need to sell, its just painfully obvious now, they're done. Its been way too long and they've completely lost touch with the way the game has evolved.
I also think Conte isnt really a Tottenham manager. He's been hamstrung to a degree but we shouldnt be losing to Newcastle and Villa at home, Forest in the league cup and struggling to get out a very easy CL group. The football is abysmal as well.

To be fair, when Conte has got it right we have played some brilliant attacking football, especially towards the end of last season.
Thanks for the reply- I thought it was a dig, but now I see what you are saying- that Levy and ENIC are subtly encouraging this sort of situation to give them an out with the fans. I agree completely.
Which makes it harder to understand why he is failing to be pragmatic against certain opposition.
Conte's tactics are killing us and clearly demoralising some of the players who we know are better than what they are showing.
I fear Conte has always known what his job was and for how long he was here.
