Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He’s out for another month. Why on earth would you keep Son? He’s pathetic. I do agree with starting Richy but pair him with Kane and bomb the hapless cry baby

Son had yet another nightmare today and quite simply isn’t worth his place

He couldn’t even play Kane in with a simple pass and fucked it up

He’s totally lost it imv

There are fair criticisms of ENIC and Levy but those people need to face head on the fact that the football under Conte has been bad this season and there is precious little evidence of the work that’s happening on the training ground. There’s no sense that we are moving towards something better.

I don’t think conte has long to save his job.

Is there anyone in particular you'd prefer to replace him with if he goes?

Im sceptical about Poch. I don’t really believe in the messiah coming back and I think he’s likely to have loyalties to certain players (Lloris, Kane, Son, maybe Dier) that will distract from the benefit of the team.

It’s clear our strategy for recruitment is to buy players <25 years with high upside and high potential sell on value. It seems logical to me then that we hire a manager who has a track record of working with and improving young players - someone who can make players better and make a team better than the sum of its parts. I’d also like a coach who has a proactive rather than reactive approach (been bored under 3 managers now) and ideally one who has his best years ahead of him instead of behind him (Mourinho was always the wrong appointment).

Potter would have been perfect…

Julien Stéphan did a good job at Rennes which is maybe the best academy in the world this past decade… proven record of working with and improving young players. qualified for CL with Rennes and beat PSG to win the french fa cup - win more than Kane! Finished 6th last season with Strasbourg after they finished 15th the season before… But doing poorly with them right now.

Amorim at Sporting or Gallardo would be excellent choices too…albeit with risk attached. Hard to say.

But this is exactly why we have a director of football. To align recruitment with the vision for the club. It seems like the next appointment needs to have a risk attached.

Contes appointment was worth it simply for how much hes exposing and dragging Levy and ENIC. Great insight from a world class manager about the upper echelon of this club.
The performances against Brentford and Aston Villa are not on Levy and ENIC. They’re on Conte and the players. We’re talking about one of the highest paid managers in the world who has had over a year with the squad and they are turning out performances like that? thats on him

I agree with you that Conte fully deserves the criticism for how we've been playing, and the seeming inability to adapt and try other approaches. Even with the gaps in our squad, we should really be doing better with the players that we have.

Beyond this, we also have a longer term problem in how the club is set up and aligned (or lack thereof) in terms of its footballing direction, development, recruitment and investment; I know you've also touched on this in one of your other posts elsewhere. Bentancur and Deki have been revelations, but why did we spend what we did on Gil, when we had other pressing areas to fill, and did we not do any scouting on Royal? We've also made little progress on shifting our deadwood, and you have to ask if this is because we've left it all too late or are unrealistic in our expectations.

I've said this over and over if the manager is successful then ENIC can take some credit for that, if he fails then ENIC has to take some of the criticism.

to do what? man united has begun to seem a football team after buying casemiro (70M) and anthony (100M)
before of those signings, united took 4 lemons from brentford and collected sh*t results
Ten Hag has been fine. He had the balls to do the number one thing needed for them: kick Ronaldo to the curb, and out of the way of all their other talent.

They had spent very poorly in years past under Solskjaer. Obviously Casemiro and in particular Anthony greatly improved their quality, but, undoubtedly Ten Hag has been an excellent coach for them so far.

We'll have to hope something else goes wrong over there, otherwise 300m of transfers a year plus Ten Hag will be a combo we simply will be unable to compete with under the current Levy/ENIC regime.

come on, in every interview he released, he talked about CR7 involved in his project. Cr7 kick himself out with that interview to Piers Morgan.

give to conte 170 M for 2 players. than we can argue
I like Ten Haag too, but without those signings he would have been already sacked

He said all that stuff because he simply had to- he had to give CR7 a chance to hang himself, which the egoistic prick of course did in short order.

As far as the spending, maybe, but, hey they're United and can spend without blinking an eye. It's basically a moot point. If they had bought say Toney and Calvin Phillips instead of Anthony and Casemiro I have a feeling they'd still be pushing us if not ahead of us right now too.

Ten Hag and the Ajax crew are tactically astute, run a system, have a flexible plan, and know how to develop young talent. The most you can maybe say of Conte are the first two points, and of Levy/ENIC, none of the above.

and pigs fly

don't believe in fairy tales, there is a reason if united bought those two players for that amount of money instead of cheaper alternatives

He is airing his frustration in public, sadly he will probably be gone by the end of the week.
He is telling it as it is, but levy doesn't want people to find out what is going on, so poch will unfortunately be back in the job again.

It is total crap.

He has Harry Kane to use.
Emery had Ollie Watkins.

It is not about the tools. It is about the absolute idiot who cannot use the tools.

One can say whatever about Levy and ENIC. But in our current run of form, we have been outplayed by Aston Villa and we fell behind against fucking Brendford.

These comments might have any point against really big boys, but right now his system is being cracked open and actually has been since end of August, game against Wes Ham when they just dropped deep and let our midfield move the ball slowly and created nothing. Since then we have only 2 games I think when we actually had significant upper-hand - following game against Fulham and then against Everton.

Ideas are up. No alternative or ideas how to fix it. So just not up to task.

You can translate his latest comments into English as follows:

I am used to winning titles and trophies with teams who are among the top spenders in their league. I come in, win a few things and am gone 2 seasons later. I have no interest in developing a team and culture because I’m not sure I’ve got the ability to do that. Finally, it’s clear this heap of shite team arent good enough to fulfill my ambition and you wont give me the money to do it so I’ll be off then.

Very well summed up.

I would also add:
"I have one system. And you have to give me exact tools for this one system only. I cannot change it at all, and I don't give a damn what the players skillsets are. I play same setup every game and if possible I chose my favorites despite their form or performances".
