Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The thread is him showing one pattern of play they both happened to use.

What happens when teams don’t press and just let us have the ball?
I didnt even bother looking at that thread as it knew it would be like that. Best just to trust your eyes and reduce it to simplistic terms, i enjoy watching Brighton under De Zerbi every time i see them, i havent enjoyed watching us all season bar perhaps 2 games. Its been dreadful. Formations, tactics, subs all secondary. They'll always be someone with a video clip and some stats to show how we're actually playing great its just that us mere mortals cant see it. Remember that a lot from the hipsters when AVB was here.

I have honest question to anyone who hold Conte in high regard.

Name to me one player that has taken consistent step up under Antonio Conte for Tottenham.
Last season it seemed to be simple to claim- Eric Dier. Now... we've seen our defense.
If I'd try to answer my own question, then maybe Bentancur? But I do not know about how well he played before.

Not really, could use the rest of the season to get his methods across, time on the training pitch, assess how players adapt to help him prepare for the Summer market.

Gonna spend the rest of the season getting his message across to players who are gonna be out the door anyway and will likely change styles and philosophy,

You don't need to join a club with 3 months to go to prepare for the Summer market, that's literally what the Summer is for.

Kulusevski?
Davies?
Emerson is in the form of his life at the moment?
Bentancur (as you said)?

Feels like some are being a bit harsh on Conte. I’ll always be a fan, as he got us back in the CL when we had no business getting top four. And we’re still in a decent position to accomplish something this season. People acting like he’s worse than Nuno.

Nuno was unacceptable and most knew it before he came here but Conte is supposed to be an elite manager and has been a major disappointment

Emerson’s form is relative to how crap his been. His basically playing like most average footballers nothing spectacular just better than his played before. Which is a low bar. No doubt he could be improved upon. This is the thing a lot fans accept medocrity just cos his played a couple of games playing like the min you’d expect so fans think his unstoppable. Not realising if an alternative could be a lot better.

I don't accept mediocrity, I've been very vocal against Levy and the squad. However, Emerson is playing very well. He's not been average at all these past games. He's defended brilliantly, and even looked more comfortable in attack.

Agree looked better defensively however he is a fB.by trade and so should expect him to be good in that department. However he offers nothing going forward. His passing is atrocious as for his crossing let’s just Dracula wouldn’t be turning in his grave. Also he never ever attempts to beat a man and get to byline. In Dino mk2 system the WBs are all important for creativity by beating players and putting in good quality crosses. He offers none of that and basically limits our attacking threat. His best position I reckon would be rcb with a pacey WB ti his right.

Asking this as a question without trying to make a point. Is this the most injuries you have seen one team have in a season? I don't know what I think about this season and Conte's part in it, simply because I feel like I haven't seen Spurs anywhere close to healthy all season. And is this just really awful luck or does it speak to anything regarding the team's training?

I don't think running multiple laps of football pitches in preseason was the great idea it was made out to be.

They run a lot in training. Kane confirmed this during an interview earlier this season.

When Gerry Francis had his 'terror Tuesday' running sessions; Spurs went through a similar polava.

Key players always injured.

Chelsea have and had more injuries than us this season.
Liverpool too.

Bentancur is the anomaly as he’s known for almost never getting injured but picked one up as soon as he arrived.

Disagree. Has Ben Davies really progressed from being a steady Eddie under Conte?
Emerson has played well the last couple of matches but that may well have more to do with his response to the increased competition from Porro than anything Conte has done (and let’s face it his end product is still poor).
Kulusevski hasn’t really progressed much this season and there are signs that he has been worked out a bit by defenders.
Either way the original poster is closer to the mark than you. The whole team looks uncoached

And if you are going to say that Emerson has improved very recently and that that is due to Conte then by the same token you have to say Kulusevski has been very poor recently and maybe that is due to Conte as well.

Team is off form.

That’s not the same as uncoached.

Top 4 is the peak level that ENiC are prepared to reach. Conte got the absolute max from them already. They are slightly below that peak right now.

The team has been poor all season. They often look like strangers. As I said they look uncoached with no real discernible patterns of play. Your eyes are being fooled by your unshakeable loyalty to Conte

I don’t have unshakeable loyalty to Conte,

Not really sure I want him back after the end of the season. Just not sure sacking him mid season solves anything.

Spurs will never win because we are owned by Levy ENIC who have no hope of ever being winners in football. They just don’t have it.

As Kosher Kid says above injury plagued seasons under Gerry Francis were fairly common. This is the worst i can remember since those days though. Moura, Bentancur missing half seasons, Lloris, Richarlison and Bissouma 2 months a piece, Romero and Kulusevski a few weeks, Skipp and Sessegnon pretty much a constant (nothing new there tbf). I dont know if it has anything to do with training and to be fair some have been impact injuries but we've looked like we've been running in treacle all season and something hasnt felt right.

Our fitness coaching passing away during the season may have something to do with it.

Has he even been replaced fully?
