Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The problem with Poch, Jose and Conte was that they got great results, looked like they would achieve things, but ultimately when they left we were in a desperate run of form.

That's why it's so hard to pin the blame on anyone other than the manager.

How did a team, in Poch's case finish 2nd and make the CL final fade in a few months? How did Jose get a team to the top of the league 20 games in, then fall away thereafter and Conte's team who finish a season on an up and start the next well, then fall away again.

How does a team hit a high and then fall away so quick?
Addictive behavior patterns.

I'm not sure Conte's fall has been "so quick."

We've not really played well all season. The only good, sustained stretch of form under Conte was last season.

It's really simple, from 2016/17 until maybe the last couple of windows, our transfer business has been utterly shocking and cheap compared to practically every club around us.

The squad has stagnated, they've gambled on all the fucking wrong best bright new things, they constantly have missed out on top quality by fucking about and not paying wages at a level comparitive to the majority of other clubs compared to turnover.

Look at what's came in and went out retrospectively. Shambles.

If the same thing keeps happening with different managers isn't it likely a culture problem within the team itself? Not trying to be argumentative, it just seems like Spurs a horse that can't be ridden.
it’s the rotten culture of the entire club that’s the culture problem, goes far deeper than the first 11 and all flows from that weird little creature at the top.

The example given by Honest John Honest John of the fucking weapon giving the stadium tour is a prime example. Cheap, second rate bunch of morons. Losers club

Completely agree but if you think transfers is the only issue, you are blind. There are so many negative factors in play. Lack of leadership and strategy, low ambition, penny wise, poor youth set up etc etc

It's that bald little lying cunt who thinks he's a moneyball-player-procuring genius

Needs to fuck off.

No more chances for that cunt.

Absolutely fucking sick of his fucking bullshit.

This whole calling the players selfish not wanting to play under pressure and lacking commitment is frankly embarrassing

Conte has been manager 18 months - 11 of the squad have been signed since he was appointed - he picks the team he runs the coaching he decides the tactics - he sets the culture and outlook (says he has been trying to hide it) it is such a lame excuse the kind of rubbish fans come out with. It is all on his watch he should grow some balls and own his shit not deflect it into the players

He says it is unfair on the fans - shame he did not admit that after our abject performance against the mighty ac Milan - it’s not beyond the realms of reality that he actually threw that game with his absurd tactics

Go do one Antonio

There's our biggest 15 transfers in, currently out of all 15, 4 are out on loan at other clubs, 2 play regularly and the rest of them ended up doing practically fuck all at the club before being sold on, usually for a loss.

It's not the players as individuals, very many current and recent players have won trophies outside Spurs, and we have forwards in Kane and Son breaking records.

Obviously some players aren't good enough but that's not the main issue.

The culture stems from the Board's strategy to focus on CL qualification and revenue* as the prime objective over anything else. It filters down.

Combine that with sloppy transfer business (more than a lack of spending recently), doping of Chelsea and Man City, and a bit of bad luck, and we end up with no trophies.

* It took me until the super league fiasco for me to settle on this conclusion tbh.

They're chasing the most revenue from the smallest investment we will let them get away with.

And we have been letting them get away with it.

Spurs broke transfer records and won trophies before these parasites and Sugar rocked up.

They have turned THFC into ENIC FC.

They stole our identity and used it to rinse a loyal fanbase and trash our trophy collecting history.

Young Spurs supporters have no idea what it is like to support a Spurs team that wins things.

........In all fairness, debut aside; I didn't see him do a lot wrong in a Spurs shirt.

More than any other position (except maybe GK), CBs need a run and some stability around them; something he was never afforded here; despite the low bar set by the alternatives.

I'm not suggesting we wasted a Ledley, but he has the traits of a steady, meat & potatoes CB; something that none of Dav, Tanganga & Lenglet do.
I hate to continue banging the drum but 3 (4?) successive managers, who are no slouches, watched him day in and day out and judged him to be not up to snuff.

I'm not offering up guarantees or boasting training-ground level insight, but he's not been as calamitous as a number of those selected ahead of him....... Saw people here earlier today pining for Juan Foyth.... Another who wore bigger clown shoes than young Joe.

Anyway; I don't wanna labour this any more than you do. It only serves to water down my OG broader point.

Fully agree with your first point- increase revenue, raise the asset value with the end game of a £4bn windfall or whatever it will be. Cups not an issue. Plus financial leverage.

I don't feel quite as strongly about the loss of identity as you do, which is fine of course. Between the Jol, Redknapp and Poch eras there was still a lot of good football and hopeful times. And Spurs is ultimately the fans - we're still here.

But yeah, for a club that would historically win 2-3 trophies a decade, to win 1 in 24 years, that's dreadful. I don't expect regular league titles but we can expect some trophies and more passion and drive, from the top down, to win knockout games.

The Stratford and Super League moves probably bother me the most of what ENIC have tried, attempts at ripping the guts out of the club and league's history for money.

Bryan Gil. 25 million plus Lamela to Sevilla.

So from this deal Sevilla got 25 million, Erik Lamela and now…. Bryan Gil :contetellmemore:

Good Lord above we really are a shambles of an organization from top to bottom.
