Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

So Conte has fallen short and while I am not going to say we will definitely be better as a result, Im glad the moaning, dsfensive fcuking lemon has gone.
You do realise the bloke who appointed this defensive Lemon, also appointed the one before him :nunothumb: and the one before him :mourthumb:, and every other manager he's subsequently fired over the last 23 years of ultimate failure.

And he'll be appointing the next one too. 🤷‍♂️

Have you ever even contemplated, just for a moment, that the real problem may not be all these failed managers, but Levy himself?

What's the saying "Fool me one, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me"

He's about to employ his 15th manager for fuck sake!

Lucky us that we have continuity and a degree of stability then.

Have the FA had the same people picking the England team for 57 years?

In nearly every estimation our club has had some of the best talent in the last 20 years, mostly bought by Levy.

He is not blameless but neither can most with any degree of impartiality see him as not having tried to get the managerial appointments right.

Unlees agendas are in play in which case...

Correct pretty much.

Only the liars and those who think spending 500 million is the only answer would have foreseen us being so far behind Woolwich at this stage of the season, and that Chairmen dictate the tactics and style of play.

Nobody would have taken Saka, Martinelli and Jesus over our 3, plus Richarlison. And of they would, please show me where tnat was written..

Midfield - maybe but we had Bissouma to add to our 3.

Defensively it's arguable. Goalie, most would have taken Lloris..

So Conte has fallen short and while I am not going to say we will definitely be better as a result, Im glad the moaning, dsfensive fcuking lemon has gone.

The downside is that the spendaholics will view it through one lens of blame.
You always hear about us pipping teams like Everton or West Ham to a player. We never out muscle 4 or 5 teams above us. Money talks when there is a scramble for in demand players. We love levy style speculative purchases with a 30 percent success rate. Been that way for years.

This is a good point - and a worrying thought.

The Trust....

THST Statement - Antonio Conte

THST is concerned to note the departure of another Spurs manager this evening. No supporters want to see their manager leave during the season as it usually means something has gone wrong.

Despite the difficulties faced this season, THST would like to place on record its thanks to Antonio for his hard work during his 18 months in charge, particularly last season and during that tremendous run-in. We also acknowledge the personal challenges Antonio has faced this season and wish him well as he continues to recover from his operation.

This departure will come as no surprise to Spurs fans. We are aware many supporters had grown tired of the football associated with the manager, while others felt he was the right man to take the club forward and will be saddened to see him depart.

The Club's board must now have a clear strategy for what and who comes next, and it needs to tell this Club's supporters what that plan is. THST has repeatedly called for this, and fans deserve it.

Less than two years ago, at the end of the 2020/21 season in May, Chairman Daniel Levy told supporters the Club would focus on the recruitment of a Head Coach saying they were 'acutely aware of the need to select someone whose values reflect those of our great Club and a return to playing football with the style for which we are known'.

Many supporters will feel the appointments of Nuno Espirito Santo and then Antonio Conte following Jose Mourinho's spell do not reflect the promises made above.

In the same statement, Mr Levy said: "I feel we lost sight of some key priorities and what's truly in our DNA."

As another season without silverware comes to an end, we would urge the Club Board to reassess those priorities before appointing a manager the entire fanbase will get behind, and building a team that can truly challenge for domestic and European honours, respecting the traditions of our football club.

We, and all Spurs supporters, will now get behind Cristian Stellini, Ryan Mason and the coaching team, in pushing the team towards securing another top four finish.

I’m no Levy/ENIC supporter but I fail to see what they could have done differently. I think we were all pleased when Conte and his huge team were taken on - for huge amounts of money. He was supported in the transfer market. We all thought he was the elite manager required to take us forward. Unfortunately he was fucking useless and his ridged tactics were a blight to anyone who likes football. Over the hill. Any successes he may have had were just luck. We are currently 4th despite him not because of him
I'm not totally sure if he got what he wanted in the transfer market otherwise he'd used some of them, it looks to me like cheap punts rather than identifying targets and going for it.
But we'll never know the whole truth.

we needed 6-7 new players, and they couldn't be all first XI because you can't spend 300 M in a session like our competitors do

You are a very strange, contradictory man.:contefacepalm2:

[Edit: You are though.... You spent ages arguing the opposite with me yesterday and claiming that even the squad hadn't improved.]
