The overreaction from both sides after yesterday is ridiculous. We're still above Woolwich, having played them United, Chelsea and Liverpool.
Meanwhile our next 5 fixtures in the League are West Brom, Leicester, Watford, Stoke and Brighton. Followed by a tough fixture v. City, which is then followed by Burnley, Soton (twice), West Ham, Swansea and Everton.
A conservative estimate would say we take 28-30 of those 36 points with say a loss to City/1 other or a loss to City and a few unexpected draws as the Prem always throws up. Odds are, come our tough period where we play United, Liverpool and Woolwich consecutively, we'll be in the distance of both Liverpool and Woolwich.
With City having the title wrapped up already, consolidating top 4 is now our target with a deep run in the CL and F.A. Cup and our forthcoming fixtures are relatively forgiving.
They may have won the battle (for the first time in 4 years) but the war is still well and truly in our favour. The hysteria after yesterday is laughable.
EDIT - One other thing, Chelsea took 4 of a possible 15 points away to the top 6 and won the title last season. But, you know, narrative.
Don't you come in here with that sensible shit.
We’ve been anything but soft since Poch walked through the door. What a silly reaction to yesterday’s game.Well are we? In the time pochettino has been in charge we've had deft through balls and slide passing(Eriksen) solid defending,a solid midfield and the majority of the time a free scoring forward line plus backup from our midfield in the scoring department! But as for having a bit of steel bit of grit in the middle of the park.......do we have it? Yes Wanyama stands up for himself but he's not been playing, sly kicks and petulance from Dele is no use! Son & Eriksen are far to lightweight they both pull out of 50/50s on a regular basis losing the ball and giving possession away, today we needed someone to win the ball put their foot through it and get stuck in! Not only today though in other matches as well if we're being outmuscled.....are we soft?
Yep. Should have got a few sent off. That would have helped. We are too soft.
One yellow card (for dissent on Kane i believe) in the NLD, when things are going badly, is just lethargic
Yeah yesterday was a fucking joy.
No other team is winning those games.
Chelsea won one last season, and finished miles clear.
So doesn't that make us consistent then?

I was writing something but you said it.We’ve been anything but soft since Poch walked through the door. What a silly reaction to yesterday’s game.
Fuming about the performance? Definitely I am. We didn’t show up and for the first time in a long while they seemed to be more up for this fixture than we were.
Let’s not forget we also had the spine of our side out/unfit yesterday in Toby, Wanyama, Dembele (struggling), Kane (clearly not 100%).
It was a horrible performance. Nothing more.
Mensa, you know what it’s like. A club is only as good as its fans.
Beating Real and BD was strong performances, mentally and physically . Thats were we are, thats the level we have reached. Yesterday, Utd would sit everyone behind the ball and play for the point. Poch plays his way, we play our game looking for the win and when we fail, we get nowt. Its not about weakness its how you are set up. we didn't do much wrong. Woolwich were faster to every ball yes but never came close to taking the lead until the refs intervention. We were coping in our way with their huff and puff and playing ruff sort of way.. We played the offside perfectly and they never looked like they were going dominate the game. Watch AW and he is a bag of nerves before the goals because he knew they weren't making the break through. You are either on or off side and both goal were off side. Its down to luck and judgment. Weakness no - the way we play yes. It was just one of them days when every element of the game went against us.So losing 3-2 to West Ham wasn't a weak mentality in the second half when we capitulated after they got one back?
Going to Old Trafford and making Smalling look like Maldini because we are too timid is not a weakness?
I suppose our top 6 away record has zero bearing on our weaknesses?
Yeah sadly as the team gets better the fans get worse, I bet some city genuine fans enjoyed being in division 2 in 1999 on the way back up having a laugh together at maine road, now surrounded with plastics and tourists
Paxton 2004, losing to someone I cant remember who, I loved coming up with a pisstake Atouba song having a right giggle in the crowd with a load of other real fans, what you would give for that mentality to be back
Although Poch bought our club back for the fans, it has bought with it some massively inflated expectations
I think the media are also winding a lot of our fans up with "they have to win something" line.
It's only us they say that about, they completely ignore that Liverpool have only won one league cup in the last decade.

And is that not normal? Should our expectations still be what they were under Hoddle?
Poch is saying we are going for the PL and CL and with regards to the FA Cup "where are Wigan"...?
But the fans have unfair expectations?
