Are we too soft?

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Sammy come on you know the expectations are higher than then, the realistic even minded expectations i think a lot of people said is top 4 and have a good run in champions league, remember people we have no fucking home ground, the home ground that gave us a record amount of points last year, you should expect some regression this year probably.

So that means yes we get one less point at the emirates, and I still think we will finish top 4 no problem

So far we are having an amazing CL run and are in top 4 so I think we are meeting expectations, which with no ground and less spend than Woolwich and Liverpool is still incredible

Thats my point though. Why shouldnt the fans expectations match the teams ambition?
The fans cant be ambitious, thats not our job, but if we are told we are trying to win the PL or CL then our expectations we will a lot higher than if we are told we are going for 4th and the FA Cup.

Of course Poch says that but as spurs fans we have to do ourselves a favour and avoid the heart attacks the middle aged hen pecked do every week in the stadium and think hang on, with no home ground will we really overturn a man city team who spends 120mil on full backs in one week? of course not

I would not listen to where the media say we should finish or what Poch says even though I love him he has to say that shite, step back, its top 4 and a decent CL run, we have no chance of winning either this season

Yes that sounds defeatest or whatever but thats what I had in mind before a ball was kicked when the stadium was being demolished, its being realistic

So when we get a loss instead of a draw at the emirates one game of football, there is no need to go crazy, as i never thought we would win the title, if people on here did then sadly its going to be another disappointing season as a spurs fan for them

Earlier on you said to everyone to calm down and one bad result doesnt change anything etc etc, but now you are saying the same.

I believe we can very much win the CL which was my point a few weeks back when I made the Priorities thread.
Prioritise the CL over the PL and we can go all the way. Players can get much more rest in between CL games than the league games and we could probably go full strength through the whole knock outs.

That doesnt mean I expect it, or will "melt" if we go out, but my expectations are at the very least to give it a massive shot, and qualified or not, that doesnt include going to Germany and playing Nkoudou and Foyth.

Jesus. We had players coming back from injury and Dier and Eriksen were knackered out by being overplayed by England and the sheer emotional and physical stress of carrying Denmark to the world cup - it was pretty much a perfect storm of when best to play us. Let the gooners think it's changed things. It really hasn't.

But that's probably because I was almost talking to myself it seems as to me that result didn't change anything I still think top 4 etc but realise now that it may change things in other peoples eyes with their expectations as we are further away from city

I definitely think we have more chance in the CL thats for sure, on song we are one of best in Europe and pretty unplayable, I saw you said earlier Janssen and now Lorente have been a disappointment, I just wish someone would stand in for Kane and even be half as good, Kane looked dead meat yesterday. Pray for Lamela too to be that stand in for Eriksen who gave everything midweek and did not show up yesterday

Every time our players leave Poch it hurts us, I hate it, horrible time to play those bellends

I agree. Just found it to be false that they've not had injuries. They are, unlike Chelsea and Leicester, currently winning because they are simply better than everyone else.

Meh..... Maybe they'd be feeling the impact of these injuries more if they didn't have a bench choc-full of £40/50m players.

"Brave?" .....Still not buying(*) it.

(*Pardon the pun.)

It weird people keep using the Bridge battle game to show we're not soft.

We were lucky not to finish the game with nine men to be honest. We threw a two nil lead away and officially fucked up the best chance in 60 years to win the PL.

A few reckless slide tackles and a 20 man brawl so what? Oh great we lost our discipline so we're hard.

That game was soft as fuck when you look at what it cost us, and all because we lost our nerve against the tenth place team.

So you think capitulating a two goal lead isn't soft because we nearly broke Hazards legs?

Would the West Ham game the other week not have been soft if we did some reckless slide tackles while throwing the game away and kicked off at the end?

You got a different idea of soft to me. I couldn't care less how many knee high challenges we make in a game, if we don't have a winning mentality to back it up it means fuck all

Yes we do.

We beat the PL chumps Chelsea at home . Do they have a soft underbelly, they couldn't live with us that day but a game doesn't make a season.
