I don't think he's underpaid, I think the rest of them are grossly overpaid .... and I don't just mean our players. Yes I know that this is the world we live in now, but it still doesn't make it right that a footballer earns more in a week than the average joe earns in a year, no matter how good he is.

That's a bit harsh on Joe Clash Joe Clash , you can't just assume his yearly wage... :pochrolleyes:

To put it it in context, Ruben Loftus Cheek earns £60,000 a week while that bloke responsible for sealing the deal with our Korean tyre sponsors gets £84,000 a week (according to Her Majesty's Daily Express at any rate)

Welllllllllllll, if you're on that kind of level, here's one for you. In the olden days, when designing elevators here in Denmark, they didn't really take globalisation into account. Most elevators were fitted with a button to call it to your floor plus a light to indicate when it was in motion on its way. Which in Danish is this:

The story goes that when the British Queen visited Denmark, they'd ask for her itiniary and send someone around ahead of time to cover them all :lameladisgust:

While its crazy that anyone earns that sort of money, while people can earn that kind of money, why shouldn't footballers?

They are entertainers playing in the most watched sport in the world. Because it's the most watched sport there will always be crazy sponsor money and tv money flying around. The better the quality of football, the more fans.

If anyone could play top level, they would so it's clearly a very specialist skill with a very short lifespan.

Actors, actresses, musicians and athletes the world over are paid silly money, so are the best doctors and businessmen, it's the world we live in and we certainly wouldn't be turning it down if we were part of the elite.
 
As for the eriksen not signing a new contract, I don't think it matter. I don't see him being here in 2 years and I don't see him leaving us for nothing. He's too nice a bloke for that but he has said he wants to use football as a journey and he wants to play in other countries. He's been here a few seasons now and helped us immensely, but he wants to travel the world, I don't grudge him that. Some people want to live in new countries, some people don't.
