My sort of neighbors the NYPL posted a link today to a bunch of digitized cigarette cards from England from the early twentieth century that involve football:

I went through the collection and pulled all the stuff regarding Spurs. Note that, as with other material I've found from the time period, we are frequently referred to as "the Spurs". So if you ever hear someone say that, there is a good chance that they are either American or a century old.
