Maddison is done. He was already missing a big chunk of the season with injuries, and he relied on explosive movements to get away from players, and will be 31 by the time he's back.

The front 3 can't get the ball because we have no one on midfield to play through lines and get the ball. Gallagher does not change that. So a continuation of more hoof ball. Even if we make our own style, a player like Gallagher is not good enough to lead our midfield. Guarantee in a year, people will be calling him useless and a waste of money. There's absolutely no foresight with this transfer. We have Sarr, Bergvall and Bent who have that profile. We're blocking Berg's development, which is just stupid. If we'd loaned him, grand, but buying him is daft. Now we have to get rid of two players rather than one for the sake of adding a pretty meh player.

agree about wharton, but lets be real, we aint getting him.

maddison aint done yet, 31 is fine, hes slight too so them players are ok a little longer as they arent moving much weight about. maddison has the highest football I.Q at the club, even when he wanes physically hell still offer more than most.

if gallagher is replacing bentancur i dont see the problem, its a better player and one whos english. 35m is not big money.

I'm just saying that calibre and profile of player. I doubt we sign Wharton either.

Ah man, he needs that little quick turn and half yard. I've never seen a player like him recover from an injury like that that late in his career. And Maddison, for his good moments, goes missing in a lot of games as is.

I just wouldn't replace a player that shouldn't be playing anyway, on a 5.5 year contract as one of the highest earners at the club. It's very short sighted and solves no long term problems. It's opportunism and there's no logic to it.

when maddison comes back it will make a big difference to our play, he drops to pick up easy balls off the deeper players. when that happens, gallagher will add more weight.

theres no point teams like us copying the better sides, we dont have the players, we need our own style for what we have. 3 up front now is just dead, better off packing midfield and winning that battle, rather than two shit wingers who cant affect a game. stick 2 up top and and beef the midfield, try something different ffs, this shit aint working with poor technical footballers.

And that's exactly Franks problem , keeps doing the same shit and expecting it to change .
He lacks the courage to try something different and bring some vibrancy to our play .
It's the same with his subs , most of the time it's like for like or some obscure positional change that just unbalances the team more .

thats what we was told frank was, an adapter! been massively underwhelming. he was dealt a shit hand, but hes not even tried to play his way out of it.

I was all for TF when he was appointed but he has been a massive fail , in fact worse , he is sooo vanilla it's not funny .
That shite he spouted after the game today is bollocks , show some fucken fire man , get angry .
Imagine that was Ferguson , bodies would have been taken out of the dressing room to A &E .
The saddest thing about the whole club for me is that there is simply no evidence of any culture being shown , from top to bottom .
Just a whole bunch of human beings drawing massively inflated wages .

This was a signing where the just because you can doesn’t mean you should policy applies. Opportunism at its finest. He’s no better a footballer than even a Bentancur.
 
He was a body needed in midfield and the price wasn’t crazy , bentancur out for 3 months , Madison out for the season , Kulu out for another couple of months , we are probably offloading biss , Bergval seems to get injured every week , gray is like a mannequin . We had no choice but to go into the market for someone, I’m not annoyed we did that , I’ll be fuming if that’s our only signing though .

He’s a better footballer than current Bentacur - the first version pre injury when he first signed, maybe not
 
Watch the game again and see how Frank used him, plus how many times Conor was unhappy in & out of possession with what his teammates were (not) doing.

Ask a fireman to extinguish a blaze with a bucket of coal, see how he does.

Actually noticed that. He was asking players to move to receive the ball and they were like statues. Id say he now cant believe what he has let himself in for

To be clear: he’s not bad. But I thought he was very basic at Chelsea bar a good run. He was their better version of a Mason for Poch - an honest, very hard working player who you always felt they’d eventually upgrade.

It was groans all around when this guy started for England at the euros - including on here. And he was rubbish. I just don’t think for those wages he offers anything that many PL players can’t already offer.

I genuinely don’t think he’s a much better player than Sarr.

Frank does seem like a wet blanket, not someone who is going to light a fire under someone and really get them motivated.
