"The AXE convinced the forest to vote for him; since his handle was made of wood he told them he was one of them. "

The Super League is dead, but so also is Tottenham Hotspurs ambitions growth plans.

- A 1 billion pound loan to fund the worlds best stadium needs to be paid back. I expect the club thought this money was banked.
- Expectation that Mourinho would lead us into the next era - disastrous results.
- Covid has caused astronomical losses that could never have been planned for.
- Loaning Bale was clearly a sweetener for the deal.

Where do Spurs go from here? No Champions League, disastrous PR - who is going to sponsor the stadium after this?

The losers here will be the fans. Higher ticket prices. Higher TV subscriptions. More fixtures played in butt-fuck nowhere countries for bloated European competitions.

Massive failure to understand football economics - Spurs have just been elevated in front of the whole world as one of football's top twelve - advertisers, sponsors, players and managers will have all seen we are now considered as one of the big boys.

far from being "the end" this will be the launching pad for a massive increase in revenue, with Covid ending corporations sitting on piles of cash will want to remind the public they are still here, the stadium will finally be open as the multi-event cash cow it was designed to be.

We dipped out toes into the big time, we had no choice, that can only be a massive positive going forward

The Big Six - City, Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Woolwich and SPURS .... that's our marketing team's wet dream right there.

The REAL big teams (UNITED, CITY, LIVERPOOL) are going to do everything in their power to look for a scapegoat in this for people to direct their anger.

Who gives a shit? We play Southampton tomorrow in Mason's first ever game as manager.

Let Neville's mascara run for all I care. They hardly held us in the highest esteem in the first place. Fuck em.

And that scapegoat will be Perez and teams going forward with it.

Don't think that happens, talking to a West Ham fan, who hates Spurs, and even he openly agreed that Spurs had no choice, if WH had been offered a spot of course they'd have jumped at it.

100% he blames the Americans ... think that's the same with most neutral fans ... sure the big six acted like greedy bastards but that's nothing new ... it's those dastardly Americans (even though it was allegedly Chinese money) who are the nasty bad guys behind the devilish machinations.

Liverpool, Utd and Woolwich's owners can expect a real hard time .... doubt Levy will even notice all that much difference.

Bit dramatic this thread innit? Need a cwtch?

:dierpochhug:

Spurs will be fine. We'll all be fine.

Can't wait for this season to be over though. A fresh start in August with a new manager and some new players all being shouted at in the stadium and match thread will be lovely.

We’ll be fine? Agree re ESL but can’t ignore COVID impact on our finances as well as the cost of Jose (settlement plus players purchased).

Every empty home game is costing us c3M. No sign of concerts, boxing and NFL returning to WHL soon.

from CL money, to Europa to conference (or no Europe) will also be a massive loss

revenue dropped from 460M in 2019, to 400M in 2020, I imagine 2021 will be another 15% decrease to around 340M which is catastrophic. Yet still people think we are gonna be signing players 😂😂😂 We are absolutely fucked unless he brings in investment in the next month

Why? revenue is interesting but it's bottom line that counts ... worst case we may lose 100-150m across the pandemic, but our balance sheet can afford that comfortably. To say "we are absolutely fucked" is just hyperbole, we are probably one if not the best able clubs to survive a short term cash-flow loss, all our debt is covered with very long term bonds and our cash on hand is at a record high.

Whatever is wrong with DL's management (that's for another thread) handling our club finances is not one of them. We will come out of this pandemic far faster and far stronger than many of our rivals, it won't be pretty but it won't be 'catastrophic' either.

We are always fucked by these bent clowns running Spurs.
We ain't ever going to be competitive before or after this dirty money grab collapsed as those cunts don't give a toss .

Atlanta Falcons have already announced they are playing a game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season and there will be a second game announced soon. The Spurs stadium is going to be generating multi event income from September this year. Revenue may be down in the short term because of COVID-19 but there will be a massive bounce back next season. The only thing Levy has to worry about is keeping Kane and improving the squad. The ESL will be forgotten about in two weeks when there is a new headline to worry about.

This is not just a one off hit. Pivoting from CL to no Europe is a 100M year on year loss of revenue.

Agree re ESL. I would love to agree about bounce back / September but take a look at the anarchy in India. Are you certainly we stage events at anywhere near full capacity in just a few months? I’m not

there is also the huge annual 100M hit of no CL. We need to invest to try and get anywhere to returning to that level

Utter bollocks.

Spurs will still be here long after you and me pop our clogs.

Nope. It's precisely BECAUSE they're the 'real big teams' that clubs like Liverpool and Man Utd are going to take/are taking the main flack for this.
