It's better to use a player who fits your system, but has less talent, than a player with more talent, but who does not fit your system.

Sanchez can't pass. He is a good defender but lacks technique. Do we want to play out of defence or do we want to hoof it? Make your choice based on that.

But we can't keep buying players who don't fit our player profiles. Have a defined tactical plan and players who fit it. That's really all that matters. Are Huth and Morgan great defenders? Yes. Can they pass well? Nope. But they fit the tactic. Sanchez hasn't so far.

Well, that is rather one dimentional, isn't it.

OF COURSE in perfect world we would have well rounded players in the side who could have all the needed skills. But in real life it is tad more complex. Right now we are where we are. We have to compliment one player issues with how we use other players. E.g if Sanchez passing game is weak, we have to pair him with someone who is better at passing. Like Dier or Alderweireld. And order Winks do pick up ball from deeper positions.

And in current situation I don't think that we should freeze him out completely because his passing is below what we would expect. In long term, as I pointed out, we might look to upgrade on him. But life is not football manager, so we should not sell Rose, Jan, Foyth and Sanchez in one window and bring in 4 new defensive players. It has to go step by step.
