Look- I actually do respect your analysis in most other respects- I just very much disagree with your assessment of Kulu.

I would advise anyone who disagrees with my opinion of Kulusevski to peruse this excellent work by SeeSpotRun SeeSpotRun

It highlights why I do not share your admiration for Kulusevski.

xG Creation Index...

I started looking at this on the Maddison thread but have extended it. Basically it's the sum of the xG's of all of the shots that a player has been involved in, as shooter, assist or secondary assist. The only thing I don't count is the penalty taker for penalties, since they weren't involved in "creating" the chance. I do count whoever won the penalty, and whoever passed it to them.

All the underlying data is published on fbref but they don't do a total, so here it is:

When you consider how much harder Maddison works to make himself available to receive the ball (evidenced by how much more he sees the ball) and how much harder he works in defensive transitions ( tracking etc) it’s amazing how his thread is not full of acolytes praising him, but Kulusevski seems to have so many admirers.

People have an attachment to Kulusevski and to a lesser extent Bentancur , they were the first players that we brought in about 5 years that actually had a semblance of decent impact on the side , initially at least

They became the proof that our recruitment had been fixed

Anytime someone had the temerity to question our transfer operations, Kulusevski and Bentancur were parroted back at them

WALOB
Maddison does not work harder than Kulu.
I read those "stats" and could not make head nor tail of 'em.
I wish I could remember the game where you said Kulu had a stinker and I posted a clip showing him set up 5 gilt edged chances that were spurned.
If you wish to discuss Maddison why not do so in the Maddison thread?
If your sole contribution to this thread is to say that Kulu is shit just say so and spare us the XYZ tripe.
In fact I have had enough of you. On ignore you go.

This kid won the young player award in Serie A for all positions. Not just a defender award like Romero but all positions. Allegri wasn't his biggest fan but look how well is Allegri doing now? There should be no surprise that this kid a sensation. For some reason he still has haters. Why?

They are playing in different positions and have different roles.

Why would they have similar stats in terms of how often they get the ball and defensive transitions.

When you think about it, we have Kulu, Bissouma, Romero, Bentancur, Davies, Son, ALL captain material (and in some cases, have already Captained their Countries)
That HAS to be a good thing, no?

I don't think any of them are captain material personally.

Good energy, good players, probably respected but we are really missing an experienced leader to keep us honest on the pitch.

Brighton 2nd half, Palace, no one stepped up.

Maybe not, but a few of them ARE Captains or have captained their National Sides in their careers...

That's gotta count for something??
