It was painful watching Eriksen making manure tick on Sunday, even if the pain was significantly reduced by the stuffing of woolwich.
Peak Eriksen was our footballing brain, almost always making the right pass to keep the move flowing, and scoring a dozen or so goals a season.
I'm hoping Deki can grow into this role. His interplay & understanding with the likes of Kane is already evident, and he's at least as good an athlete as Eriksen. More aggressive too.
Gifted playmakers like Hoddle talk of how the game slows down as you get older & more experienced. A player with an exceptional footballing brain sees plays earlier.
I think this shows in Kane's game. You can literally see his brain seeking out the best attacking option and then he's technically good enough to execute, more often than not.
My hope is that Deki can also develop in this fashion.
Two proper footballing brains on the pitch are even better than one....
