they won penalties due to actually having players who get in the box and take people on instead of passing it round the box, you can’t ‘take away’ the penalties as if they were some sort of arbitrary award

They have some of the most egregious divers in history stockpiled into one squad. Sterling dived on so many of those penalties and he wasn't alone.

It was a tactic for them and tbh it's one we could learn from. Saying that there were a good chunk of decent shouts that we didn't get. Take the paranoia out and we were still very unlucky for penalties last season, especially in comparison to those cunts.

I don't think he's consistent enough. Very good player on his day but he's not going to be putting up Son/haaland/Palmer/watkins numbers imo.
The only reason Palmer put up Palmer numbers was cos he had about 20 penalties.

Also the experience of playing Firmino, Havertz, Gabriel Jesus & co up front shows you don't need a striker to be putting up huge numbers to finish with >90 points, so long as they're bringing other goalscorers into the game. Which Kulu does.

If we don't sign another striker, I could see Kulusevski taking Richarlison's spot as the preferred option for the CF role.

Then if the plan is to move Richy by next summer and bring a striker after that, I could also see Kulusevski making that decision a bit more challenging if he's had a good season there.

The problem is players like Firmino had salah and mane around him. Gabriel Jesus had aguero,David silva,de bruyne, mahrez around him. We don't have the squad for that. We need a goalscorer.

I thought he played really well vs Bayern. He created a number of threatening chances only really relieved by fantastic Bayern defending. He had a couple shots go close, and combined with his fellow attackers from a variety of positions- most notably appearing wide right at times to help combine with Johnson and Porro. He also had a crazy defensive action where he somehow tracked a runner back all the way from ST and made a goal saving challenge on their breakaway.

So according to Ange, he will not Play as a striker. We expect new RW will come, so i think Deki will mostly Play as one of 8s. He is strong workhorse but lacks speed, so interesting how he could handle Sarr role. Great goals today, but his positioning for their third goals was criminal. Against Leicester expect him starting as RW, since Johnson was average so far, and don't expect new RW integrated to team before season opening. Also - despite what Ange is saying, we know we cannot rely on Richy fitness, so its good to have a 2nd option in him there in case when we loan Will.

We are not signing another RW, we have Kulu, Johnson and Moore. I think Porro could be used there as well, in an emergency, with Spence or Gray sloting into the RB.

I would love to see Porro seriously tried at RW. Hopefully with the continued rehabilitation of Spence we can see such a scenario safely carried out to fruition.

Great to see Kulu bag 2 goals. Very good goals. You could argue that he took a mistouch on the first and didn't deserve the chance, but to react so quickly and accurately was a sign of genuine poaching instinct. The second was class as he had the keeper on the ground wrong-way.

Guess he's not fucking useless after all despite the lame jeering and bitchly protestations of some of our most loserly and regrettable posters! 2/3 of our goals vs Bayern starting as our ST! And to think I was laughed at on here for suggesting he could hit 12g/12a in 25g in the prem!

With absolutely no due respect whatsoever, fuck y'all bitch-ass haters- Kulu looks well-set to meaningfully contribute at 9, 10 or RW for us this year.
