Maybe - but he's clearly so far down Mourinho's list now. His value will only go down if he doesn't play. Surely we'd have been better off (and him too, frankly) with him playing for PSG.
He can play every Thursday , we have a hectic schedule coming up so he will get plenty of game time to prove to Jose he should be playing in the PL , if he doesn’t start Thursday then yeah I will agree he should have been loaned out

If PSG really wanted him then he would have gone, but they didn't.

Now he has one last opportunity to prove that he has a future here. Nobody on earth can deny that our attack exploded as soon as he was removed from the starting XI. Either he finds a role or he moves on.

So what do you do if you're Dele? Tricks and flicks to capture the hearts of the fans and pundits again or play it safe like Winks to escape attention for mistakes?
That’s the dilemma in these situations. If he plays it safe he’s just one of a number who can do an ok job. If he does the stuff that can hurt opposition, and it doesn’t come off, he will get cunted.

Dilemma? How about he does exactly what is needed in the situation it is called for while giving boundless effort in the areas of play that don't win you accolades ie the dirty work. And instead of trying to be the hero or center of attention with his play he instead decides to be a functional and reliable part of a team by doing the simple things and doing them repeatedly so that his teammates can do their jobs with the trust that he will do his. Do this and he will get back in good graces but 1 games' performance ain't gonna do it. He needs to do that ALL season to change minds of teammates and supporters.

But 2 losses of possession in our half of the MF with 1 leading to an attack and resulting corner (and considering our last outing this could have led to something we really didn't need) and delaying the simple ball to Sonny in order to try the more difficult hero cutback that was easily cut out is not what will change anyone's mind. And tonight he didn't have a nutmeg or penalty goal to bring the simple minded viewers out in his defense though they tried...right Guido 🇺🇦 Guido 🇺🇦 .

Surely he needs to do the things that elevated his career in the first place. There are 2 questions to that: i) does he now have the confidence to play that way with everything that's happened to him and ii) is that the way the current manager wants?

There's really no point in using him to play in a safe manner. There are others better equipped for that. If that's what the manager wants then Dele would be better elsewhere, for his sake and ours.

I think the main issue here is that no one is quite sure where Dele fits in the the Jose 4-3-3.
The front 3 is optimally Son Kane Bale, and Lucas Lamela Vinny to supplement (you can add distant Clarke). Dele is not really fit for that array, it's not the Poch type of play where we press most of the time so he can park closer to goal and have runs in.
The dynamo behind role is clearly for N'dombele or GLC and Dele seems a bit too indirect to take it.
We can play him deeper but we lose most of the best aspects of him as a player by doing so.

We all know he has ample talent, but this is not a system built for him to flourish here unless he changes substantial dimensions of his game.

Now the dilemma is:
- sell in Jan\Summer while he still has some market value and the contract isn't an issue yet
- be patient and try finding him a new role at the cost of maybe never really cashing in on him

either way we need to handle this differently then the Trip\Rose sagas

He also can’t play in a double pivot, though I will say that I’d rather him at 10 than Lamela. Still looked like a real misallocation of resource last night. Replace him with a Sissoko upgrade or another defensive midfield, spend some of the wages elsewhere.

The problem of holding a confirmation bias is you only see what you want to see. You focus purely on the pass that didn't complete, it manifests within, eating at your soul. We simply were more fluid and kept the ball higher up the pitch in part to him being on the pitch.

There is zero point going analytical on a Europa League group game as they are nearly always shit to watch on account of multiple factors both on and off the pitch. When he came on he played well, made some nice passes (a couple of poor ones too), should have scored following a beautifully timed run. Laid off a difficult 1st-time ball that was played behind him from Vinicius for Son to blast over the bar.

Not worth breaking down any more than that in what was a routine win, where we were kinda comfortable in slow tempo, unconvincing, not sure how we really played kinda way. Move onto the next EL game for no doubt more of the same.

Not sure what we can expect from him when he’s getting half an hour every so often. He’s obviously not showing enough I. Training to get much more than this though.

Thought he had a bloody decent showing yesterday. Popping up all over the midfield, Winning balls, keeping the ball pretty well and making some decent passes. Yeah he lost the ball a couple of times and didn't have 100% pass completion rate, but he definitely did more good than bad. Was part of the triple substitution that definitely lifted our performance.

Keep going Dele.

Sure, but then we also have others better equipped to 'create' than him as well. What was the stat about goals so far this season? 31 in 11 or something? And from reports the manager was more than happy for him to move on. It was those above him that have created this current situation it seems.

Save it, Guido. You've lost all credibility in this arena after going months upon months of pushing back with stats and other BS while defending yourself against the "shiny objects" charge. It's all about the goals with you and anyone else that backs this player that has been shit for 3+ seasons. He's no longer worth it while we have actual footballers available to do the footballing stuff. Hopefully the January TW will rid us of this distraction. 10 more caps.
