Here he is about to complain about the marshmallow injustice.

Probably trying to find the disagree button.

Because it's seen, rightly or wrongly, as antagonistic. If someone feels strongly enough to 'disagree', surely a few words of explanation aren't too much to expect. A 'disagree' invites further comment, an 'agree' doesn't.
Oh, I wasn't being serious. That was rhetorical nonsense on my part.

I just think that stripping away the rep system just because two or three people can't handle it is a misdiagnosis of the problem; they're the same people that can't go two weeks without spending a day or two in the bin. I really don't have a problem with someone ticking "disagree" for a post of mine. I'm a big boy and my feelings aren't going to get hurt if someone doesn't agree with me, and I really don't require an explanation either if they don't want to provide one. If that was all that was going on then I wouldn't have a problem, but it's not. This isn't about people disagreeing and failing to make up, it is about just a couple of people and one person in particular and their petty obsession to get one over on people, and it's spoiling the experience for everyone.

Hell, you and I have gotten into plenty of arguments, but we don't go around negging each other's posts just for good measure. Getting rid of the "dislike" button didn't fix anything, it just made the problem more cruelly mocking, and the board more patronizing in holding everyone to the standard of the lowest common denominator.

We could get rid of "disagree", but that's not going to solve the problem of this all simply resulting from a few shit-stirring drama queens.

If I post that woolwich are great and I get 1000 disagrees, I don't need an explanation, but in the Jennings thread (and I admit it made me laugh) Jayc1 said 'just saw a dog' and Arcy disagreed :dawsonlol:
I loved a couple of weeks ago when people were posting their top scores in Crossy Road and Arc was dishing out disagrees and mocking people for spending too much time playing games.

Can't believe how petty and meaningless some people's lives must be to make such a big deal of 'internet rep'

:kaboullol:
Firstly, when you disagree with a post, it does not mean you disagree with their very existence on this board. It means you disagree with that post. Of which, much of the time, you do not. Might I add this thread is not directly aimed at you - there appears to be several head-to-head battles taking place at the moment.

Petty is going through people's profiles disagreeing with everything they post. It's not the rep, it's the fact that good posts appear to be shit on the face of it, when they're not.

My biggest issue with the disagreeing is, when reading a thread of 40+ pages, sometimes I scroll through looking for more detailed posts, but when you see the disagrees at the bottom, it makes me think their just chatting shit and I don't bother - when in actual fact as I've seen the past few days some posters make a great point and just get neg rep for it - despite the rep having NOTHING to do with that post.

Doesn't change my life - I won't sleep any better for it - but this is the 'feedback' section for Admin Admin so letting him know my thoughts.

Personally seems a bit pointless to me to bother removing it. At the end of the day, it's just a little black x at the bottom of a post. Meh.
Got more important things to worry about. Like JayC1's inability to construct a decent argument.

Again, completely removing "disagree" simply because one person can't handle it is just patronizing to everyone else. If we go down that route then we might as well scrap rep entirely. Rep isn't the problem, it's really one person in particular.

Remove rep from him, dammit. Or make every rep from him something nonsensical like a balloon or a cookie.

Wikipedia Brown Wikipedia Brown So are you for, or against? I can't work it out. A clever satire on the pointlessness of internet rep, or outraged fury at the prospect of losing one your basic human rights?

Oh, you know me... a bit of both.

But in all seriousness, I barely use the thing. Do think it's unfair to take away, though... all it ever is is Arcy et all having a little fun. If people really get that bothered by it, then well... see: your point about the pointlessness of internet rep.
