I never understood it, people said 'Conte sees him in training' but I've never bought for a moment that he was so, so shit in training that he wasn't even worth 15/20 mins off the bench in games where Emerson was stinking it out.
Clearly there was something about him or the signing Conte didn't like.
I think he is a free spirit player by nature, quick, strong, skilful and unpredictable. To get the best out of him you just let him play, that’s not really how Conte operates. He must seem raw to Conte.
